When the good ol' Sir Syed Ahmed Khan was trying to uplift the Muslims through education and modernization ... there emerged in India the famous Jamal-ud-din Afghani who wrote long phillipics against Sir Syed.. going so far as to call him a dog. He described Sir Syed Ahmed Khan an elitist British stooge and a traitor to Islam.

For those of you unfamiliar with Afghani... in history he was known as a Modernist Muslim writer and philosopher from Iran who travelled all over the Islamic World promoting Pan-Islamic Unity and asking Muslims all over to unite behind Ottoman Empire to defeat the British Empire. In many ways he is considered the founding member of Jihad International...

Two years ago, I found a very interesting article in some kind of a journal of Intelligence studies (in the office of a very famous journalist-activist of Pakistan) published by a think tank in the UK. It was constantly referring to Afghani as an Iranian freemason and British agent in the Islamic world.

I would be very careful with some of the off base characters we find on here...

zee, obviously Pavo is not an Islamist like you, and he isn't a Hindu like me either (even though, a much despised Hindu among my brethren. LOL). So I wonder what he is going to say. Whatever it is, it is something to hear and consider. :)

well -it's already started happening... BB, elite of all elite,daughter of the east, was the first one to pay... the carnage has started already... others have escaped the fate a few times- mushy, shortcut aziz, and others... but not forever...

mohar11, let's stay out of personal comments. :) Both zee and yasser have more complex views and can agree/cooperate on a lot more than may be just casually visible. And they are both genuinely first-rate human beings who want Pakistan to succeed. A thumbs up for both.

Like I showed you that the use of Islam was started by the Congress and Gandhi to sideline Muslims like Jinnah (as you mentioned in one of your previous articles, jinnah could not make it in the congress despite his Indian nationalism because he was not Hindu.)

I was particularly surprised by your other claim. As if those like mufti mahmood, maududi and wali khan who formed the core of PNA in 1977 were not the same people deadly opposed to the creation of Pakistan.

Furthermore ...the major recruiters in Punjab were the unionists ... Like Fazli Hussain and sir sikandar etc. When push came to shove the Congress made a coalition government in 1946 with the same unionist muslim landlords to leaving the Muslim League and the Communists out in the cold.

I am sure you are an intelligent man... Check these facts again.

The same Mullahs you seem to admire were used first by the Congress and then by the military and civilian establishment to subvert the constitutional democratic process.

What do you think the ahmadi riots were about in 1953? They were fomented by the establishment by using the mullahs to bring down Nazim ud din's Muslim League government.

ur talk of ahmadi reminds of an incident of paki history.pakistan had an ahmadi foreign minister zafrullah and for his personal agenda to get to the International Justice Court and without consulting the Paki Govt he on his own signed the SEATO Pact !

Let's hope things turn out to the better for everyone. I guess, the first pre-requisite is stop thinking one is excessively smart and will continue to fool all the people all the time. And that applies to all of us, Indians, Pakistanis, Hindus, Muslims....:(
