[Also I have heard only of 3 states celebrating their stahpna divas with Gutso Karnatak, Andhra and Gujarat. Pls ask the average Bihari or UPite when did he last celebrate UP divas in UP or Bihar Divas in Bihar.]

That is because those were the only states to be separated from the erstwhile British-Indian Presidencies and Provinces to form new states in the early days of independent India. UP (United Province), CP (Central Province), Bihar, Punjab, Assam and Orissa already existed along with the Presidencies of Madras, Bombay and Bengal.

Andhra Pradesh was formed by separating the Telugu-speaking areas of Madras Presidency and joining it with Nizam's Hyderabad state. Same thing for Karnataka whch was formed with Kannada-speaking areas of Bombay and Madras being nerged with the kingdom of Mysore. Gujarat had to wait till 1960 to be carved out of Greater Maharashtra though Andhra, Kerala and Karnataka were formed in 1956.

But don't blame just the UP and Bihari bhaiyyas. Where the heck is the self-respect of Goltis? Instead of naming the new international airport at Hyderabad after Potti Sriramulu who fasted unto death demanding a separate Telugu-speaking state (yes, it took a Gandhian fast unto death before that idiot from UP Jwahirullah Nehru would concede the demand), the Congresswallahs of Goltland have declared that the airport would be named for Rajiv G@ndu.

I agree with Sanatani. Yeh saaley Bihari Samajwadi Janta walley have been trying to be aggresive in Mumbai for some time. Bihar itself is screwed by Biharis and they are going to other states to spread their idiotic caste based policies.

Sanatani Mahoday,

How can they play both cards (i.e.regional chauvunism and Indian patriotism at the same time)?

I disagree that north Indians are creating havoc in Bombay. They are economic migrants who want to work hard and make a living. Anybody working for a living is contributing to the economy of Maharastra (if u r aware of indirect taxes u'd understand what I am saying). They create demand for goods and services in Maharastra. Is that creating havoc there?
Btw, they dont beg there. They work hard.

If u go to any industrial estate in Gujarat u'll find none but UP+Biharis working in those factories. There's no such havoc in Gujarat but they had in Bombay? Take Calcutta. I hardly came across a Bengali-speaking cabbie in Calcutta. They are all Biharis. There's no havoc there! All the mosambi juice vendors in Hyd are Biharis. Nobody complains!

We have to accept that India is not Punjab, Rajahstan and Dehli. India also includes Manipur, Mizorm and other NE states. Calling them Chinks is very insulting, 2 say the least.

Re: # 9

VRV ji,

Where MNS erred was abusing Chath Puja and attacks on North Indians and stopping Bhojpuri films, thetare, music etc.

BUT the fundamental issue does not change.

North Indians are creating havoc in Mumbai esp Muslais from UP and Hindus from Bihar. There is no denying this fact. Also understand one fact if you are outsiders (and this happens all over India) do not mess with the locals on issues like getting together as toughs and terrorising those locals, because when the reverse happens it is very very dangerous, violent and because of that heart rending.

It has happened amongst the student community to Chinks in Delhi, Muslims in Bangalore and Sikhs in Bidar. It may happen to Biharis and UPites in Mumbai if they do not behave and remember karte kuch hai bharte sab hain.

Please see films made 20 yrs ago do you remember any body callen Naik, Sawant or Deshpande in a movie that time. Too long have the Marathas tolerated NI and Muslai non sense in Mumbai. The Muslais got a taste of what the sons of the Chatrapati can do when aroused (remeber Marathas are incredibly placid and calm normally, think of this as meekness at your own peril) to a fury. If the NI's wish to experience the same then the best of Bhartiya luck to them, though I would not count on it.

Also I have heard only of 3 states celebrating their stahpna divas with Gutso Karnatak, Andhra and Gujarat. Pls ask the average Bihari or UPite when did he last celebrate UP divas in UP or Bihar Divas in Bihar.

Afsand Mahoday,

India Chalo is yet another example of extremely high Indian patriotism. Very true Indians are a strange breed of extremely high patriotism one end end and completely none at another (They cannot vote in a Lok Sabha election on national issues unless something emotive like Indira raandee's assasanation when they actually started believing what they were sniffing or injecting namely the foreign hand. Indians are the only people with a consistent vote who caanot diffrentiate between a national and panchayat election. Even banglas and neps are better)

When Indians talk about India, they forget or somehow overlook ground realities. They actually do not. The ground realities are too painful to contemplate so they have again started believing what they they are sniffing or injecting. To quote Masadi these type are truly peons of the west and they are delirous with joy when they se good press a la Darlymple or Friedman.

A great nation needs to have several qualities, one of which is establishing Justice. I do not see Justice in India, Yes the courts are independent (unlike Pakland). Independent courts do not help with out a proper investigation or prosection mechanism even if we accept your comment as true.

but is there Justice? The plain and simple answer is a big fat NO (very much like Pakland). There is justice but you get it when you do not expect it. The conviction of a large number of Hindus in decades old riot cases where the victims were muslais, but truly I am yet to see the reverse.

Harry potter is poor quality fiction read John Grisham and you may like to migrate to US and spend time eating shrimp gumbo in Biloxi.

Asfand,

U r damn right.

This week we had this jerk called Raj Thakre whose goons attacked some hard-working migrants for no reason but the police of that state is feting him with extra security for his life.

It's like the aggressors are getting secutity but not the aggrieved. There's no respect for law and order in India.
Central govt washes off its hands by saying that law and order is a state subject.

No matter what we achieve economiclly would remain lipstick on our piggy lips.

Greetings Nadeem

I have not read the India Chalo nor have the intention of ever reading India Chalo, however I can say this without any hesitation:

India Chalo is yet another example of extremely high Indian patriotism. When Indians talk about India, they forget or somehow overlook ground realities. A great nation needs to have several qualities, one of which is establishing Justice. I do not see Justice in India, Yes the courts are independent (unlike Pakland) but is there Justice? The plain and simple answer is a big fat NO (very much like Pakland).

So India Chalo might be a good fictional novel but this is the extent of it. The true sign of India becoming great is when all Indians in USA and Canada start to go back to India for better future.

Till Then, I would rather watch Harry Potter for fiction than reading India Chalo.

India is a classic case of very inefficient governance and some very efficient business corporations; so if I were to invest in a country, I would choose China but if I were to invest in individual companies, I would pick Indian companies.

Naddeem:

What I meant to say was, "..few hundred MILLION unfortunate souls.." and not hundred.....

You see Many Indians usually mostly prone to boasting and forget that there are serious problems related to good governance, rule of law , communal harmony or say hygiene in public space, and makeing good water and health care available to hundreds of millions. Then they play with these stupid number game. Pretty disgusting. Agree with me.

The clarion call of 1857 i.e 'Dehli Chalo' is rehashed as India Chalo...well, India is far from being called a hot destination on par with China.

India as many said b4 is a whale or elaphant i.e big beast who takes its own sweet time to go its destination.

Is this a novel?????????????

I think the author is a finance/economics/investment guy, and out of customary ignorance about literature viz very usual among finance/economics/investment guys, he is calling it novel.........

Dear Kamath,

I agree. i spoke about this to the author. His opinions are that it would be wise to look at the positives of the economy now as being a democracy we wil have our share of issues, which even a developed nation like US has. But at the end of the day a GDP growth of around 9% is a beautiful indicator of where we are heading
