Some senior Chowky is saying these doctors are not armymen but these are the ppl who treat the armymen.
Well, every tradesman in army is trained to don army fatigues and carry the gun for battles. So, a painter, barber, drummer, sapper or doctor are all armymen who can participate in battles.
++
How these bombers go unchecked into these cantonment areas?

Bravo jayp what an explanation....
At least you have admitted that Tamil and Mokhti bahni were trained by India..
It seems that compared to Pakistani brand of terrorism you people were much more effective....
You see we trained and then those trained elements started to target us.....
You trained and those terrorists just targeted the targets not yourself...
Wow ....
brilliant....
And all that hue and cry over pakistan training terrorists....
Any how you have also missed the point....
terrorism is always an outcome of multitude of mutually reinforcing factors...
yes ideology may ignite it or even be the major cause of it but under particular circumstances...
If Russia had not invaded Afghanistan...
Perhaps this kind of TNT stuff would not have been happening with such frequency and intensity.....
It was the combination of that invasion, US money to actually set up such Madarrassas and yes the ideology...
You see I am not denying it.....
Merely pointing out that explanations are complicated....
Social sciences are not like natural sciences....
These are not exact....
Factors can be multiple...
And one has to at least maintain a less know all and arrogant tone.....
That is it......

India Today: Can you confidently say that the hijackers are not Pakistanis.
PAKISTAN HIGH COMMISSIONER IN DELHI ASHRAF JEHANGIR QAZI:
--------------------------------------------------------
The identity of the hijackers is unknown and India's assertion that they are Pakistani nationals is untrue. India says it has evidence they'll bring forth. So bring it. Whatever the identity of the hijackers, the Pakistan Government has nothing to do with them. If there are such people on our territory they will be apprehended. But how does India expect Pakistan to apprehend masked people whose identities are unknown to us?

Re: # 98
Five actual hijackers — Ibrahim Athar, who is a brother of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar, Sunny Ahmed Qazi, S. A. Sayed alias Doctor, Z. I. Mistri alias Bhola and R. G. Verma alias Shakir — commandeered the plane to Kandahar after it was refused landing request in Pakistan. Following tense negotiations with Indian officials the hijackers successfully got Azhar and two other terrorists released from Indian jails in exchange for the passengers and the plane. Indian foreign minister at the time Jaswant Singh and senior officials escorted the freed inmates to Kandahar where the exchange took place. The freed prisoners included Omar Sheikh, now in a Pakistan prison for the murder of Daniel Pearl. The third man released by India was Mushtaq Zargar, chief of Al-Umar Mujahideen militant outfit.
Ans: I can recall the event. Pakistan, after failing miserably in Kargil, wanted to do something deaparately. Even, heavy presence of Indian armed forces in the border caused casualty on the islamists/terrorists trying sneak into India. Then come this shock. The hijacking ocurred on the soil of Nepal. Pakistan, like true islamic nation, had started with lie and denied it's involvement. They even tried to project Taliban as very generous people and Mr. Jaswant Singh released these people on AFG soil. Then after 9/11/2001....
I don't blame Pakistan/Taliban for this episode. The Indian Govt. was fully responsible for it.

How can the state punish a “suicide bomber” ? who is already dead.
I guess the only way is to give the euivalent punishment to his family members. If a guy becomes a suicide bomber, execute sombody from his family… this can work as detteren t for people who plan to become “suicide bombers’… their families will try to stop thm

Kashmir day report,
What a sense of irony. The pakistanis released throigh hijacking, one is in prison for daniel pearl killing, the other is the leader of teh most dreaded jihadi outfit.
Real Kasmir day celebration material, something to celebrate.
From dawn of today. Very, funny, even dawn calls them terrorists.

Already a few suspects have been arrested. Can we have an eyewitness account of whether the blast area was washed clean with fire trucks, just like it was done for benazir.
Sabahat maam, can you report on that

hamidm,
Killing doctors is a favourite past time of pak jihadis. More than a hundred shia doctors were killed in Karachi.
Zeemax,
Why did the paki suicide bombers blow up underground in the UK. Why is the pak releaed hijacker from India a great religious leader in pakistan today. Why did anotehr pakistani released from india kill Danial pearl.
Tamil tigers have a political agenda, they are negotiating for peace with some identified entity. Jihadis want to kill any and all kafirs. Give some explanation for the involvement of pakistan in london bombings. Now in the spanish plot. Why they all come to pakistan for training.

majumdar/ijaz_gul/zee ,
zee bhai were you not told that when you were out of home for school: if you had died you would had been martyred as you were out for a noble cause (education).
Epitaph( in lawn of faisal mosque isb): Gen. M. Zia-ul-Haq Shaheed.
and most of the religious party leaders recall him so.
Was he fighting with US Amb. in plane?

Re: # 12 skeptical,
You asked why did the suicide bombings and the jihadis start in the 1970s in pakistan. The reason is simple, that is when the children of TNT became mature to carry out those acts. The entire US and afghan connection for the jihad is simple non-sense. That is probably the only immediate cause. The fact that now it is supported by the pakistanis is the proof of it. The pak society was ripe for the jihad, the transition for TNT to RDX is linear.
Take the case of mukti bahini, Indian supported them, now it is no where in India. Take the tigers of sri-lanks, india supported it, now they are no where. When some activity is inimical to the values of society, it cannot take deep roots.
Jihad took deep roots because it is in tune with the founding values of TNT. The afghan war was the sunshine that germinated the dorment jihadic values of pakistan. Take the bhumian budhas, they survived all the so called islamic invaders, could not survive the pak madrassa products, and that is TNT for you. Pakistan has created a new strain of islam, TNT-islam now morphed into RDX- islam. Pakistan has to take the credit for it.

i am hard pressed to understand why we focus on suicide bombing and not on human death. after all, death is a death regardless of whether it comes through a bomber exploding himself in a crowded market or through a pilot dropping a bomb on cluster of houses.
i think we focus on suicide bomber, and not on the pilot, because suicide bomber typically represents a marginalized segment of population that none of us elitist computer junkies can relate to. He kills people who are "one of us"
A telling evidence of my above claim is the simple fact that despite the thousands of bombing raids that have been carried out by the pakistani miliatry in tribal areas, i have yet to come across an "eye witness" account of any of those bombings.

majumdar/ijaz_gul,
I'm not making fun of the deceased. I'm criticizing the terminology used to refer to the deceased. When a brick layer in dungarees and a hard hat is hit on the head by a falling girder, is he 'martyred'?
Or perhaps you mean that every soldier who dies an untimely death on duty while in uniform is 'martyred', but if the same was off-duty in civvies, he would have been just plainly 'killed' like other mere mortals?
C'mon gimme a break.

But I find it amusing how the author says "One Colonel is confirmed dead (martyred)"
Ans: May be died for the sake of nation, not for personal cause. The actual event may be an accident.
