The ANP or NAPs politics is well covered in Juma Khan Sufi a longtime ANP member who also stayed in Kabul from 1978 till 1992 in Frontier Gandhi and his Politics published by Vanguard in 2005.

The ANP is the largest party in NWFP but it does not still represent the majority of the NWFP.It has no clout in tribals areas except may be parts of Khyber Agency and that too limited.

Its traditional modus operandi was to get financial support from India and USSR.Now as the situation is , it appears that the USA will back this party in the so called fight against terror.It will act as dog catcher of USA like Paki military junta.Lets see how far it can do this job.

The NWFP is a multi ethnic province and the ANP will have to moderate many of its chauvinist nationalistic policy may have to be reversed.

It is doubtful if it can do very well in Pakistan's dirty politics.

One thing is clear .The Pashtuns are junior partners of Punjabis.They have a share may be 25 % in the pie.

As for pakhtuns being "junior partners" of Panjabis - I really think you should try to take off these "ethnic sunglasses" that you wear. The reality is that "ethnic differences" are a very superficial and arbitrary thing - and in increasingly urbanized societies they are becoming meaningless.
