i cannot disagree with what you are saying but I fear that the USA still needs this mercenary army and the army in some form will continue to destabilise democracy in pakistan.

HP,
Nice read. "Na, na! mullah ghussa karega" says it all ... naughty, irreverant but a wee bit scared. By the way, what were eight girls serving? ... I mean how many hosts were there in all? .... jee! You guys are feudal if only food and drinks were served!

Nice read H P.
The Rani is no more.
May she rest in peace!
Pakistan has changed yet in some ways it remains the same.
The Bhutto legacy is back in front once again.
The watering hole in the basement of The Green Hotel of
Peshawar is probably no more.
You are right about Lahore!

GT,
Business owners in Pakistan always had more fun! And it is true for India too. In old age it is fun to have young girls around. Someone serving a glass or just a snack in the middle of the light hearted fun or a heated conversation, with a polite smile, just makes the day or shall I say makes the night! It is like the waitresses in any quality bar in the US nice and polite but hands off! Karachi is as much a western city as you can have in south Asia!
The old Pakistan that I knew of rarely had salesgirls, lady bus conductors, girl order takers in McDonalds and KFCs but that is pretty much a norm now!
Yasser and Asadi,
I don’t know what to say to you both. I never thought my comments could be misconstrued by you two but obviously they have been. I hope you will end this conversation involving me and go on with your differences.

You don't have to say anything to me, unlike the others on here, I didn't even mention our meeting until manto brought it up claiming that you implied that I was a "mouse"- I only retaliated to that comment by stating you had praise for my posts other than their sometimes irreverant nature which is no lie. He attacked that and then then rest is history...The blame for not maintaining people's privacy rests solely with that fool...

and then the rest is history..
I was deliberately dragged into this by Manto by his "I have met someone who met you" nonsense and his purpose as harish says quite correctly was to create a rift between HP and I regarding our friendship for social justice. If I was not mature enough not to give a damn about what Manto says or what others might think about me that rift would have been created...

Tahmed, it appears that Pakistan is on a roll. I took the superhighway from Karachi to Hyderabad in the middle of the night and the constant stream of trucks and other traffic on the highway just showed how much goods are moving to and from Karachi. Now you rarely see big trucks in Karachi they all take a bypass that has relieved the traffic so much in the city. Still, I am not sure constructing flyovers on every intersection is the answer. Flyovers are ugly and poor traffic management. Just think of flyovers in Manhattan on the fifth avenue and how ugly that would be.

Well it seems that you had a great time. On my part, I am a bit jealous because I am being forced to postpone my plans to visit Pakistan and India time and again. Anyway, nice to have you back.

rozaiba writes "...The latter have delusions of originality [ie living under the shadow of America etc.] but are the usual run-of-the-mill whinners "
When you produce something that can stand up in quality to the calibre of my writing then we can talk, until then your best bet is to promote censorship by thanking the Chowk staff and arguing against unpublished articles the contents of which you have not seen...The "conspiracy theory" label is your refuge that dimwits like you apply whenever they are stumped by facts

Manto writes "harish mian,
Did you bother to read Masadi's comments? He is the one who brought up my meeting with HP in #17"
More lies, on the Feb 18th election board Manto says that he "met someone who met me" who implied I was a "mouse", even before that comment Manto meeting HP was on Ijaz Gul's very public iLog, and now he says I bring that up on Feb 26th. BS

masadi,
.... you pathetic fool! .... how can you say stupid things like: "produce something that can stand up in quality to the calibre of my writing " ......... what quality? what writing? .... it is the same old rant about the big bad us elite doing this or that - all based on your reading one book by mills and boon
.....look mian ji, you can't even get your crap published and have to rely on paying for it to be 'published' by lulu.com .... any idiot can do that!
..... you have a highly exagerrated opinion of your abilities and need a reality check .... since i am not there to help you, just look in the mirror and slap yourself .... that should help ........

Look a-hole, lulu does not charge anything to "publish" stuff. I merely chose that avenue to give structure to my quite extensive writings. I am not in the "business" of writing stories that border on fiction or exciting tales of BS by people trapped in a pathetically narrow existance as in the US- those kinds of sh** sells and people who get "published" do so more for their books selling prospects than literary merit that is why the books you pick up marketed by corporate publishers are full of crap these days...

Hamid writes ".... any idiot can do that!"
Any idiot can get published by the mainstream corporate media as well, Musharraf did it, Hannity did it, even his a$$ wipe colmes got published, O'reilly is a bestseller as is Ann Coulter, Neil Cavuto who can scarce put paper to pen went to the top of the NY times bestsellers list as well. Any idiot might be able to do many things in this imperfect world but they sure as hell cannot write like me
