Nice write-up, although Makli is a total neglect.Anyhow, as a non-practicing deo-bandi, I still believe that our government needs to spend more on our heritage sites.

'Makli is believed to be the burial place of more than 125,000 saints or Sufis'
Sumera sweetpea,
What does it matter if the 125,000 buried there were saints or bastards. How does a dead saint different than a dead pimp?

I don't know what to say here. This article is a word for word copy from three articles that can be easily found on the Net.
Though it really does not matter as all the information in the article is in public domain already!
The whole necropolis is based on Persian architecture and it seems that Persian architects were involved in the initial construction but afterwards locals took over.
The talk about 125,000 saint was initially a joke. Now it has been repeated so many times that is just beyond ridiculous!
what the fk 125,000 saints were doing in Thatta, a smelly dusty town? Just remember there were only just under 125,000 prophets in the world. So Sindhi just one upped the number of Saints in Sindh and now people actually quote it as some kind of truth!
The Persian architect is everywhere in Sindh. The famous Sindhi tiles from Hala(amin Fahinm's hometown) are a poor copy of the Persian tiles. all major Mazar in Sindh are replica of something like that in Persia.
In Sindh, we either have 4000 years old cities or 600 year old necropolis and mazar. what happened in between? Someday someone has to write about that!

Apparently if you bury a 'dog' - and put a green cloth on it - people in Pakistan would start worshiping it!
