We have Dawrin (who questioned religious fundamentals) on ones side and Queen Elizabeth on the other (defender of the religion) side on £5 notes, whihc I think is the powerful way of suberting religion. We need to explore the world around us to seek the ultimte truth. We may not find but keep trying and refining our knowledge of this world.
Believers of all religions can keep believing in their books. We defend ur right to believe. Pl let us have our own right to believe in whichever we want to believe.

The article concludes: "..we are a complexity and permutation of millions of years of natural selection without a predestined or strategic plan."
Agreed - with the important exception of "without a predestined or strategic plan". The fact is that that we have no way of knowing whether or not there is a "strategic plan" to all this.
So, the kernel of truth is that there has been evolution - the evidence that humans have evolved from "lesser animals" is as irrefutable to any intellectually honest individual as the evidence that all humans were children and infants in the past.

The very idea of a strategic plan or predestined path is a flawed idea that our ancestors came up with before the discovery of germs and bacteria. It goes against the very nature of natural selection and the scientific method. If there is a plan, how is it easy enough for some individual to alter the plan? The reason why we can not prove that a plan "does not Exist" is because it is an illogical argument. One can not disprove the existence of something that does not exist. The same reason I can not disprove the existence of a tooth fairy.

What an author's introduction, what ignorance of faith, what blind allegiance to Darwinian thought!
Now may I suggest some reading Mr. Zarrar: The Qur'an, that categorically places man's creation at a very high pedestal. Man is neither an angel nor a baboon. And is NOT 'created by God in His own image' as the Bible states.
To live with the thought that one descened from the chimpanzees is fine, to act like one is very serious. May I suggest that you stop swinging for a while and start looking for proofs within yourself and in the cosmos. Stop measuring God with Vernier calipers or a test-tube.
The word Zarrar means: LOSS

Tahir mian, iam no scientist but have read a bit about Natural Selection. I can see Zarrar Sahib's POV and tend to agree with most.
I don't think you have the foggiest idea of what you are talking about. You seem to have to scientific background yet you feel so qualified to voice an opinion with no foundation to back it up.
May I suggest a good allround education perhaps?

interesting article.
Interestingly - there isnot much a difference between us, cows, pigs, weasles, and other mammals - int he genetic code there is a small difference in words and alphabet. There are a number which are very very close. A small mutation and we could be pigs!
What is also interesting, is that in the genetic code, there appears to be a number of genes which are dormant or not used (i.e in the human gene set). This is is a process of natural selection of the most viable set of genes fortheir prupose.
Religion has got nothing to do with it. Religion is man-made, GOD has been created by man to curb and control Man. Science is independent of religion.
I am looking forward to the super-collidors results from CERN in the coming months.

Dash,
(I am looking forward to the super-collidors results from CERN in the coming months.)
And what will that tell us?
Regards

Finding: By comparing portions of the human genome with those of other mammals, researchers have discovered almost 300 previously unidentified human genes, and found extensions of several hundred genes already known.

Tahir sahib,
i appreciate your concern. But ignorance will not get you anywhere. The religious script you talk about is also manmade and not descended from heavens. And to clarify, we are not descendants of apes, in fact we are quite the opposite. We are descendant of upright mammals who looked like apes. Apes... are a seperate species. May I suggest reading Richard Dawkins, Charles Darwin, and also you can read evolutionary biology and figure out how natural selection works. My attack is not on God but on the void that exists. We should learn about natural selection as it is essential for our being.
DashDot. Thank you for your appreciation also. In fact, Chimps and us have 99.98% similar genetic makeup. We have descended from common ancestors. The homosapien developed its brain due to heavy intakes of protein and the ability to hunt for its food. Later, this gave birth to civilization via agriculture. Any two species in the world (man, dog, cow, plant) have some similar genetic make up as these genes are immortal and have been passed on since the beginning of time... with the initial primeval soup.

majumdar - the the of article/references below are for the death of GOD (not god). And here is another which predicts the RISE OF GOD in a billion years from now (interpretation is a fun thing here)
