Majumdar,
Please stop hijacking this thread. I am expecting to see some quality interactions here. Its ugly that you post something not even tangential. Low esteem? Is that the only way, you think will make people speak to you?
Let the subject matter experts discuss and let's learn something new and not travel the beaten path again and again.
Start an iLog and write about your fetishes. You keep posting stuff without
knowing how illogical you are.
Regards,
(ofcourse only if you stop hijacking threads with imbecile claims)

Re: # 29majumdar, come now! for a person of your ability such twisting belittles your mind!
you:Even if Man had not been created still there may have been a God, have you thought of that possibility.
and here is what I said earlier in #24
:God exists in the primeval soup that made us all and hence god is in all of us. GOD didnot create the primeval soup and then extract the HUMAN being from it.

majumdar,
Nice question. As natural selection can show its good sides. There are many times genetic development leads to variation from the norm. That is why you will have alitter of black puppies and brown puppies. And sometimes albino pups. Homosexuality is common in almost all mamallian and sometimes bird species. Sometimes it is a natural imbalance of hormonal distribution and sometimes it is environmentally dependant. Like, sometimes you will notice little boys that tend to be a little feminine from birth and grow up to be gay. They didn't "turn" gay, they were born gay. Homosexuality has been a tabboo in our civilization like all minority alterations of genetic makeup. There was a time down syndrome kids were considered the devil's children.

Please! fellow seculars.. allow for the stupidest question to be asked and answered. Dont scare them away. Our point is to bring them to the truth not push them away. No one is hijacking anything. we are having healthy discussions.

majumdar for your question re: god before man type of thing...you are following in the foot steps of pascal, and I quote him here
If there is a God, He is infinitely incomprehensible, since, having, neither parts nor limits, He has no affinity to us. We are then incapable of knowing either what He is or if He is ... you must wager. It is not optional. You are embarked. Which will you choose then? Let us weigh the gain and the loss in wagering that God is. Let us estimate these two chances. If you gain, you gain all; if you lose, you lose nothing. Wager then without hesitation that he is

Re: # 20; Majumdar bhai
Unfortunately no time to enter into discussions here despite that this subject is very close to my heart.
I'd like to make the following points quickly though:
1 - God of the scientist/philosopher/poet is lightyears away from the interventionalist God of religion (any religion); I have written so much on this subject right here so I'd refer to my posts on the subject
2 - Evolution via Natural Selection IS a scientific reality; in my professional capacity, I see evidence to support it all the time; again my posts from before
3 - Those who oppose Natural Selection, have not understood the concept in my opinion; they should read about it before they rubbish it
4 - In the fields of medicine, surgery, transplantation, genetic engineering etc and many more, Natural Selection plays a role one way or the other (unfortunately, one has to read oneself; it is hard to convince anyone without the same level of background on the subject)
5 - I recommend that people who don't accept it should also stop relying upon modern medicine to save the day when God clearly has other plans for them
6 - Some books I'd recommend everyone reads with an open mind on the subject;
The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin (1st Ed 1859)
The Descent of Man by Charles Darwin
The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins
The Ancestor's Tale by Richatd Dawkins
Works of Carl Sagan and S J Gould
Details on "The Human Genome Project"
Originals from Francis Crick and James Watson (DNA)
Dawkins also gave lectures at Oxford University to School kids (1991; Faraday Christmas Lectures - compiled together in a DVD titiled "Growing Up in the Universe"; well worth watching, I reckon).
There is always opposition on these forums when there is a clash such as this; I call it "the Clash between Understanding and Ignorance". I'll take the joy of understanding any day! (this is going to be the starting point of Tahir's next interact!)
Just you wait when idiots like Tahir will return with their circular reasonings: "my god/allah told me this because it is written in the koran; and who wrote the koran? god did! who said so? god! how do you know its true? because god said so in the koran! and who told you god is the author of the koran? because god's prophet told us! and who said he was god's prophet? god did! how do you know that? god said in the koran!"
and Tahir, I use the spellings advisedly!
Also, in the most recent agreed classification of species etc., Humans ARE classed as one of the Great Apes (including the Orangutan, Mountain Gorrila, Human, Chimpanzee, Bonobo); so much as these guys run away from this concept, Humans ARE Apes!
For those with brains and a genuine interest, this wikipedia article is a good starting point (remember only a starting point!):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homonidae
Enjoy!!

Dash,
(you are following in the foot steps of pascal,)
Blush wala icon!!!
Vengat,
(Its ugly that you post something not even tangential.)
It was Zarrar sahib himself who brought MKG into discussions.
Regards
PS: And as I said I have no intention of hijacking this thread.

Cheema sahib,
I am no expert on either philosophy or science but I have never had a difficulty in reconciling the concept of evolution with existence of God. I dont see how evolution negates the concept of God.

Re: # 44
Read carefully what I said please; no one is negating/proving god; that is irrelevant.
Are you telling me that the god of religion on one hand and the collective word used to describe the forces of nature is one and the same thing? I have been shouting out that they are lightyears apart!
gotta go...

Re: # 45
PS: perhaps its best to look at what natural selection is as opposed to getting side-tracked as usual about god etc. I have already written and explained all the points before but I am sure people will play stupid and get in tothe same circular reasoning as always; perhaps because they have no scientific answer but 'circular reasoning' as their only defense!

Majumdar
please don't be disheartened in your search for the truth about natural selection. I understand your misconception lies in basic principle. To truly understand what the others are trying to say, you will need to read up on natural selection and see that it is a blind process free from any design. You will see that it is impossible that God would come up with a tedious process to make man. A process, which when learnt about, totally negates his existence. Again, I am not negating his existence, just saying you should learn how the process works and you will find that everything revolves around it. If you still choose to call this one-ness God (biblical or spiritual) it is your choice and no one will judge you.
