Dear brothers in faith,

Don't let CHOWK's new look fool you into thinking that some 'new management' has taken over and that things will suddenly improve. If they do at all, let it be known that I have repeatedly requested CHOWK editors to MODERATE and control the RAW-agents who have nothing better to do than analyse Pakistani news and then stoop to abusing Islam and the Prophets by pretending to be interacters!

There is deathly silence at the editor's desk. Surprised? Not only this, they are guilty of killing quite a few of my articles over the years! I beleive, they still have not received the 'security clearance' to publish them.

One door closes but many others will open. CHOWK is not the final frontier; that it has degenerated into a hate-site should not come as a surprise to those who have turned it into one.

One evening's worth of search reveals that these anti-Islam half-humans will not reform. They are nicely linked; most 'kufr' is anyway. That goodnes stands squabbling amongst itself is a sad situation and I expect that born-Muslim interacters here will remember who they are, where they come from, and where they might be headed if they join hands with 'highly-educated satans'.

Indeed, the Qur'an calls all such persons who lapse into utter unbelief 'monkeys' and 'pigs'. Why? Because the outward behaviour and moral decadence begins to resemble that of such animals.

I must thank those who stood up for me, and those who even thought of doing the same but were afraid of being ridiculed or abused.

There are three kinds of men in this world; fighters, collaborators, and traitors.

See where you fit!

Regards.

I was involved in student politics in Karachi. I remaind presedent of 2 associations at a time. still I was in top 5 students in my class. I even spent some time in jail because of it. big rallies and student programs were arranged at that time. infact the biggest rallies of that year were organized by my unit.
I think politics is important in student life. we learn from there, we can't learn from books and from our Teachers how to live in the world. poor teachers cannot find any better jobs than that. otherwise they would be doing something else.

So senna bhosri ka, sets aside his 'real life bravado', to fabricate student poltics success...

Abay senna ki jhaanT, the draft during the 60's was the reason of chicken-shit students shitting blood for breakfast, and not some altruistic grassroot awakening. And it fits in your theiving framework of either 'minister's job' or throwing tantrums to to avoid the draft. So now lunD choos.

As always, US involvement in Veitnam should be helped/hindered by voters/taxpayers. Leave the universities for schooling.

Dont be naive to think in real world Any body is accountable to voting public & tax payers.
Ministers govt servents infuential beurocrats those hussling in the govt spurlge all the money in luxury, travels ,goods, perks .Do you think ppl. living in 'DEFENCE' benefit voters and tax payers.

more than 50% dont vote in India (Pakistan just learning democracy)Vote cast on basis of religion caste ethnicity not on accountibility and benefit .

Add to that fact college is NOT only for churning out degrees learning by wrote & total living in vacum oblivious of society and social conditions.
Where else training for democracy will occur ..
oh i for got you have not had democracy
and Military has turned you in to obedient havildars.

Under which rock you have crawled out, smell the flowers of spring and change

senna,

The question is.. can the voting public and tax payers benefit from student participation in educational institutions.. and if not wouldn't it behoove them to vote to stop the funding to schools etc.

If you say that some of the students, who are also voting and tax paying public, benefit from doing politics and getting minister job... then kindly slide back under the rock you came from.

In the heirarchy of power
Power to change lies in any of the three segments ..legislative ,judiciary & Executive.

In a bad or immature democracy your scenerio may be true (Clashes institutions closed).Neverthe less the basic tenents holds good in any stage of democracy. What degrees? it will be good for JOBS doled out by the same non degree holder legislatures.
In fact the judiciary as we see is tools in the hand of netas
.As for the head of state how many of them have had DEGREES from any institution?
Add to that corrupt &lawless law enforce ment
unemployment of 'degree 'holders
corruption in 3rd world in large part causing chaos & anarchy .

What & how you bell the cat?

The revival of student unions will just be beneficial for those who want to progress in life on the basis of support from a political party.

Rest of the students will be facing problems in completing their degree in time.As the educational institutes may remain closed mostly , due to clashes between different unions

Re: # 12
agreed
but before this ravishing future we have a present too
which has to be taken care of

shall we forget it

or you think present is also brightened???

I have seen many students who have political affiliations

always runing for some place to hide

their parents dont see their faces for months

they are under the constant fear of loosing their lives

once they enter some party

cant leave it

only their dead bodies can escape from there

& u said right they get jobs at ministerial level etc

we dont want all of our students to become minister

do we

basically they learn to become criminals

To measure some ones success in life by how much he earns is not correct

What else can politics offer you.
Not a bad return for future
law makers ,apponted judges ,portfolio holder ministers and power yielding over all the geek scholars with blinders and & tunnel vision...

The leftists in colleges end up as capitalist ..The foot soldiers as in all sphears end up just as victimised for whom they bled.Promise of revolution is manipulative tool only
in the hand of leaders

Re: # 2

Bravo very well said.

Yeh sab kanjar aur harami hai. They follow a vile system called kaminism kamunism and they style themselves as "Progressives" well progressives they are they progressed from fascism which killed 10 million 35 if you include war casulaties to communism that killed 60 million excluding war casualties but including POW's etc killed and created things like the boat people.

Scum bastaaards all.

Where Pak has clearly scored over India is that it has not tolerated them the way we have and seen at least a milion of our people killed by their kind.

May Shrim Ram and Shri Krisha and Shri Vaman an all the 33 crore Devis and Devtas damn them and rot them in hell.

Those who do not participate in student union are fools. My friends who did more union politics affiliated with major parities (than just preparing for Exam )are now in high position including Ministers. Also in real life if you remain politically naive no matter how good engineer or doctor or professor you are you will always remain just a 'peon'as Masadi derogatarily refers to,
politics is essential part of our survival in this dog eat dog fight for promotion ,higher pay, name & fame!

students must concentrate on their studies.Instead , on the basis of these unions they learn to become terrorists. They threaten their fellow students .Force them to join their groups ,other wise make their lives a living hell.

why are u people so much in favor of student unions ????

Dont you think all these student unions are just means of destroying the youth of a country .Politicians just use them for their own selfish reasons. They need blood to be shed & for that they destroy hopes of many of the parents.

Thanks for article.
It entered my mind how is state of student unions in India. I had not read much about in news before they were at forefront of troubles/good deeds you name it. Are they dead ? Or democratisation of education lead to demise of need of student Unions.

My feeling is in both countries earlier only high income students were coming to colleges and who had plentiful financial support to have surplus time ( similar to surplus value as termed in marxian diction) and sureity, security of future of jobs and economic future. The middle class are restive people or locomotives for such organization. They had good instincts and innocent thinking of helping poor and use to feel obligation to better. Knowledge and half knowledge give self confidence and urge to do some thing positive and repay society. So helping means finding ways on idealogical basis sopolitics enters. Unfortunate part of this process was scholorship and learning became elite.
In recent years there is explosion of colleges allover subcontinent. Majority entering is not well to do economic class. Most poor students and backward class will get finaNCIAL HELP FROM GOVT AND OTHER SOURCES. sO THIS CLASS OF STUDENTS want to do good to society by helping themselves as theseare avenues were never available to this new strata of students. Their priorities are different have no great interest. This will doom rise of strong Unions. Practically all reasonable demands are met or accepted in principle.

Are student Unions in search of MISSION ?

I had gone to college for 2 years and had interest and speed in mathematics and did not use to like this students as use to feel them as romantic fools and they use stop college by forcefulways.

Then and now also ,it is not clear what they want , what are goals , no reasonabale program. No organization can become strong with out goal. ( I think student union should not be extension of political parties , college not compulsory main aim should be educational)

Student Unions are in seach of mission and no aim seems in site.

Good day.

These litany of falaana persident and dhimkaana treasurer is indeed heart-warming but can someone explain to an O, A & non-desi graduate how students doing non-academic work on campus is the best use of taxpayers' money.

So the choice is UNINTERRUPTABLE discussion over scientific theories, sociological paradigms & literary equations..

A N D

.. students' demanding separate bathrooms for hijaabi and non-hijaabi women. Voicing their opinion about the dismissal of assemblies or publication of Satanic Verses in Swahili.

Why would you choose the second option..

If nothing, kindly list some of the best uses student activity has brought to taxpayers' money..

I wonder there is no mention in this article either about the first leftist student movement, named Democratic Student Federation, established in Lahore in the late 40's immediately after establishment of Pakistan under the presidentship of Zuhair Naqvi. Abid Hassan Manto was also its office bearer. On another board I had learnt Dr. Sarwar also knew Zuhair Naqvi and his fate. I however wanted to know more about him. Can any body help me in this respet?
