Tahir and us have discussed details before but we would be happy to go over them again if the need arises.

tahmed, 'Paindoo' is not a derogatory term, though you use it in a derogatory manner, and insist it means 'Jahil'.
A rural village in Punjab is called a 'Pind' just as a village in Urdu is called 'Deyhat'. A villager in Punjabi is called a 'Paindoo', just as a villager in Urdu is called a 'Deyhati'. That's all it means. I'm sure you are aware of that.
Of-course if you're equating the other Urdu name for a village 'Gaon' with 'Gunwar', I don't know if Gunwar is a derivative of Gaon (I doubt it). Perhaps some expert could help us.

lol salim bro, those were some interesting analogies and we could have played with them a little, but then as both of us realize, that would take more time and draw greater interest than we would like to set aside for one issue on chowk. :)

This is a usual hit piece from Salim Shehzad. There are so many things wrong in this piece that I seriously doubt the rest of the information. This is just another stupid story penned by a person who writes as Salim Shehzad. Like his political stories, he has certainly made up this story too.
Faryal Gouahar. Read about her here.
http://pakistaniat.com/2007/03/20/feryal-gauhar-faryal-gohar-pakistan-j amal-shah-novelist-tibbi-galli-space-further-burials/
“Feryal is the youngest child of dynamic, accomplished parents. Her late mother, Khadija Gauhar, was a leading intellectual in Lahore who came to the city from South Africa after marrying her father, Sayyid was a military man from the NWFP who later retired from the army and took to farming. Her elder sister, Madiha Gauhar, is a talented theatre personality who founded the Ajoka theatre group and has managed it for over two decades. Feryal was initially associated with Ajoka as its first female actor. The sisters also have an older brother, Aamir, an industrial engineer who operates a business in alternative energy products.”
Only ignorant and low class people say bad things about many girls who try to make a name for themselves in our society.
“The hero of many Urdu films, Kamal Haasan, has also announced that he will re-enter politics..”
The actor’s name is not Kamal Hassan. His name is Syed Kamal. Kamal Hassan is an Indian actor. Syed Kamal is now past 80 and suffers from Alzheimer. He can’t even stand on his own. This is another bogus story by Salim Shehzad, the liar.
“Zeba, had been seen running semi-naked out of Bhutto's room.”
I am not sure this again is a right. However, Zeba married three times and Mohammed Ali was her last husband.
“The Zeba-Bhutto friendship bore fruit for Mohammed Ali, and by the early 1970s he was said to be the richest and most socially elevated person in the country.”
That is pure BS. He did have a big house but was never the richest man in Pakistan. He was not even with Bhutto in the 70s election. He knew Bhutto though Mustafa Quershi and that happened in mid 70s. That can never be called friendship. There was no Zeba connection there.
“It was just a blessing of nature that Zia ul-Haq's child Zain Zia was a fan of Mohammed Ali, and so the actor was able to become close to the dictator.”
This is another BS story. Mohammad Ali was arrested for leading a procession in Lahore after Bhutto was murdered. He remained in jail for about six months. His contact with Zia was thru Nawaz Sharif. Mohd Ali was also a state minister during Nawaz’s last cabinet in 1999.
“When Bhutto was removed and imprisoned by General Zia ul-Haq in 1977, Mohammed Ali sent him food in Hyderabad jail.”
Nonsense! Bhutto was never in Hyderabad jail. Mohammad Ali might have sent him food when Bhutto was in Lahore jail.
“Noor Jehan is also accused in the report of being an Indian spy.”
That is again nonsense. I doubt that Rao Rashid would say anything like this. Noor Jehan was not bright enough to be a spy. The woman had many chances to go to India and make tons of money but she never did. Hamood urRehman commission report had no such story. Report just Accused Yahya of inviting singers to the President House.
Gen. Yahya Khan used to invite singers and Noor Jehan was a performer. She got paid for singing. Similarly, Musharaf too invites singers to his parties and that does not mean that he has affairs with all the singers. Recently, after a dinner at the PM house, they had some singers performing for the audience.
Gen Yhaya’s friend was Gen. Rani. She is the grandmother Adnan Sami.

Anil Bhai,
Regardless of how gentle a person you are, I must disagree with you about your characterization of Islam as a "multinational corporation" and then using the words "greedy" and "pyramid scheme." How could you make such an idiotic comparison? No wonder Masadi Sahib was after your dhoti. LOL
Now that we have gotten that out of the way, please allow me to express my severe opposition to the concept of tableegh or missionary efforts. While I agree that most of the time the missionary position is quite appropriate, it is not always recommended. One of the easiest ways to piss off the natives is to go and try to convert some or many of them to your own way of thinking, doing, praying, washing, singing, and living. No wonder the cannibals always boiled the missionary first and then ate his daughter later.
People should be allowed to change their religions and viewpoints as often as they freely choose to - I for one am not known for my consistent views. OTOH, there should be no compulsion of force, swords, sticks, or bags of rice to motivate people to change their views. Thanks for putting up with my stupid analogies and taking the heat for the fires I start.

LOL!
The hatemongers I have been reading are mostly at chowk.com. You are right that those were not the only reasons for the fall of the Mughals; the one you did not mention was your favourite Maharaj Aurangzeb turning away from the policies adopted by his great grandfather, Akbar which turned a loyal subject into a rebellious one.
But fatricisal wars among Mughals were nothing new, they had been fighting against their siblings even before they came to India (wasn't that one of the reasons why Babar came to India?); what was new was that a pusilanimous (sp?) hindu population had developed some spine of resistance.

I don't blame ya. Every nation creates myths alongside truths to justify its past behaviors. We have our own myths. A discussion on myths is usually futile. So lets move on.

Sorry, you had referred to my post#850 and that is the post I was referring to, the erring finger turned 8 into a 3.

I never said that the point you raised was irrelevant, it was that whether or not I agreed with urstruly's view of islam is irrelevant to what I had said in my post#850.
It is not my place to consider your view of islam as legitimate or not, that belongs to the ullema of islam and I am not one. I may have my views about what Islam is but those are my views and mine alone.

DM Sahib,
Just as all is not "India Shining"" in India, you oversimplify the fall of the Mughal Empire? LOL
The unnecessary devastation of the kingdoms of Ahmadnagar, Bijapur, and Golconda; Nadir Shah's invasion in 1739; the constant fratricidal wars of succession (especially the ones following Aurangzeb's death in 1707); the lack of having a strong Navy; and a number of other more important setbacks had more to do with the downfall of the Mughals than simple rebellions by a couple of native warlords. You have been reading too much one-sided propaganda from the BJP/RSS/VHP/JS/BD/SS/SP/MNC hate-mongrels.
