Naeem, you seem to be judging people about their personal habits. Did they force you to drink with them or did they force you to join the party? If yes, then that would be imprudent and rude. If no, then you have no right to comment on what is essentially what is their private matter.
How are these people to work with? Are they honest? Do they do their job sincerely? Do they work as a good team player. And most importantly, do you succeed as team? If yes, then the rest are trivial issues.
However, I agree with your observation of wastage of food in restaurants, especially when food is scarce in that country.

{"I will try, as I think most people do, hide my vices. I'm ashamed of them, I try to do them incognito. But here in front of me, is a man, named after the prophet, a director with the firm, toasting to the group, and to my right is another Muslim from Iran, also a director, and the young Pakistani who invited me, all enjoined in the delight of drink. The first director who is from Egypt, is now mimicking a belly dancer, and the women around the table are giggling. He's re-enacting a dance from another recent dinner, where he apparently displayed this skill for the group. He's shaking his pretend breasts, it's all a great big laugh. I'm mustering a half smile, and sick to my stomach....
I don't want to be here, I want to be with the local Afghani's I had dinner with last night, the ones who talked about their families, and of the provinces they came from."]
Naeem,
Thanks for sharing your disgust at the situation and how you felt says a lot about you. You are among the many Muslims, who, while very educated, prosperous, and even "westernized," do not easily succumb to kissing gora rump just to emphasize their "modernity." One of the easiest ways, these kaala angraaiz, that you encountered even in Kabul, choose to demonstate their ass kissing is by drinking to excess and then wanting everyone else to join them in their behavior as aping buffoons lest they themselves look bad. Good for you and your genuinely disgusted feeling and disappointment. I share your views.

Its not just about drinking or dancing but more significant is the hypocrisy that exists within the Muslim societies and across different social strata.

You might want to PM Kaalchakra aka Eklavya, he too loves to talk with muslims that only drink aab-e-zamzam, and eat dates.
