BJKumar,
(A bit of racial prejudice and hypocrisy (saying one thing and doing another) is a part of our desi culture, unfortunately. It is just not admitted openly.)
But didn't she just say the term "desi" had nothing to do with her and should only be used by Indians for Indians?
As far as I know, we all refer to each other in Pakistan as "desis". Even to the point of calling our products like Desi KapRa, Desi murghi and the like.
Why do we need these "overseas Pakistanis's" patronage when we have all we need? We need to work on our problems OURSELVES without any overseas interference, be it the Americans, British or self riteous overseas Pakistanis!
Just keep them where they are please

Pakistan3 dear, do not underestimate my little sis' commitment to your land of birth - to the extent that she volunteers her time at a trauma center in that country.
She is genuinely grieved when she encounters slights to that land, although at times she has heaped the same aplenty!
You guys are lucky to have a well-wisher like her, too bad you all do not realize it!

The Zeena is at least open with her prejudices. Take it or leave it - those are what those are!

Re: # 630; bjk
...point taken...
Zeena, I wouldn't mind referring to you as little sis; I just didn't know how little you were. I hope you don't find this patronising.
Despite what you might think, I am not quite the 'monster' as portrayed at times by some here
what bjk said makes some sense though, don't you think?

Zeena,
(And with that I am not going to respond to you or to anyone there with their irrational mindsets.....forcing me to give up my identity and start telling people that I am Indian....wawawawa...great logic... )
Are you sure you are not completely ga..ga..?
I am a Pakistani and live there (Lahore). I have only been overseas once or twice, generally can't afford to.
You seem to live in USA and feel qualified to rant on about "identity"!
Ajeeb baat hai bhai!
Take care behen ji

Cheema sahib, please be gentle!
My little sis lives in many places.
Some right, some less so.
Some concrete, some less so.
Some real, some less so!
But rest assured - there is at least one thing about her which is always in the RIGHT place!
The heart, that is!
And from my point of view - that is the only identity which matters!

Re: # 626; Zeena bibi,
Sorry to butt in here. This cast/hindu thing you just mentioned got me intrigued.
My last name is Cheema; reason that I am a jatt from the Cheema clan. I am from Muslim Pakistani background (both parents).
We have a famous Indian newsreader and anchor-woman in Australia called Amrita Cheema (from Sikh background; Indian born and bred).
Would you be kind enough to comment on my IDENTITY?
Thanks.

And talking of identities….
Remember, little sis! You live in America and have taken an oath of allegiance to that country!
Remember, it is your solemn duty to keep your oath!
And if indeed the USA goes ahead and bombs Pakistan – like the Obama hinted (rather not so subtly) – remember, it is your sacred duty as an American to side with the Americans!
Anything less will be a disservice to your American identity!

So,if I say that I am absolutely the same as Indians as one race and I don't have any right to preserve my own identity then I have confidence....wawawa..
What a logic....
So, If I wish to preserve my identity separate than Indians and If I don't feel closer to and don't feel ANY affiliation with Indians then howcome I say so????
And what's wrong with that if I wish to preserve my own identity???
If I am noit Indian, how can I say I am? If I am not Hidnu, how can I say I am? If I am not any Hindu cast, how can I say I am? I don't feel any sense of belonging with Indians....So, why does it make me bitter and with lack of confidence?
You on the other hand lack any rationality and also lack confidence with some sort of inferior complex or some sort of identity complex....tsk, tsk, tsk....
And with that I am not going to respond to you or to anyone there with their irrational mindsets.....forcing me to give up my identity and start telling people that I am Indian....wawawawa...great logic...

#Little sis
The kindness of heart knows no boundaries of race – and it should not!
Let the milk of your kindness flow and encompass one and all – why should you restrict your milk of kindness to Pakistanis alone? Let the whole world be saturated with that milk – and watch in wonder as those faces – even jamoon-colored faces – light up in delight!
Let your milk flow in abundance, little sis! Do not hold back!
It will make you a bigger person - at heart!

(Yes, I am bitter when it comes to my identity....It is absolutely NOT bitterness if I hold my identity dear to me.)
In my humble experience, those who use the word 'identity' so often in their conversation are unsure about the whole concept. You,however, may be an exception. Like I said, I don't know you
(Why it makes me bitter to preserve my separate identity? than Indians....)
who is threatening your 'identity'? pray tell?
(Why should I be unified? Pakistan and India can do much better by preserving their separate identities and still can be good neighbors.)
who said anything about unification or disagreed with the idea of peaceful neighbourliness?
You didn't say anything about the "identity" of the 160 million Indian Muslims. Why?

Even my next door neighbor is from a different background and we still respect and get along with eachother......

Zeena,
I don't know you but from this interact alone you sound like a very bitter woman to me who lacks self confidence.
Would you care to comment on the "identity", separate or otherwise, of the 16 crore Indian Muslims (almost the same as the total Pakistani population)?
Good luck and kindest regards.

Mr.Writer
Your point is that when Blacks are given equal opportunities they do better???
Well, I hold my views based strictly upon my own observations of many many years.....
My observations is totally opposite...I have observed hundreds of times where blacks are given more than equal opportunities in day to day life and in other professions, but, they couldn't shine and rather stumble in USA.
Also, those who are professionals and others lack what is needed to be at the top of any career........Well, that's my own observation, we sure agree to disagree here....

First of all AS ALWAYS your mind is confused and screwed up , nothing new from your side(sorry about that), I feel sorry about your seemlingly defected genes which make you unable to understand my simple and straightforward posts. My posts are so easy that even 4 years old kid will comprehend and will respond with dignity and more understanding which you totally screwed up....
Anyway, I am not here to convince you or anyone else that I am NOT Indian by any chance.....by nationality, by genes, by features, by religion, by rituals, by language and also by cast and gestures and my identity remains my own....
No one here can change this fact and that's the biggest fact. And by NO means I am ashamed of me being who I am....rather I am extremely proud of my IDENTITY and My patriotism that if anyone will try to humiliate or will threaten my IDENTITY AND MY country I will never ever affiliate with that moron....period.
Pakistan's base is a separate IDENTITY than India and that was the main reason we got freedom.....
And also my family and friends in Pakistan don't call themselves DESIS, this word desi is specific for Indians. And I don't like to be called desis because I don't wish to be assimilated with Indians as some sort of same race or same nation.....And again this doesn't make me racist, if I wish to preserve my IDENTITY....
If you're Hindu, Indian with your own specific rituals and traditional customs ,then you have every right to preserve your identity and be proud of.
I respect your right and same is for me to have a right to my RIGHT of sticking to my pride.....
And all others who are trying intentionally or unintentionally to misinterpret my simple posts then they should better get a quick treatment for their confused minds......If I don't think like you guys, then why even try to change my views which I hold dearly????
