Approx 10,000 active card-carrying fighters is the correct number. Though he could probably call upon any number of volunteers if needed.

I am glad you are aware of what’s happening in the Khyber agency. My concern is that this man (as Pavocavalry said) whether fifth columnist or acting independently should be kept under check before he becomes another Mehsud or Fazullah.
I am against all the vices as well the war lord type commanders of extremist religious groups taking actions in the settled areas. We need to raise our voice against deteriorating law and order situation in NWFP as well as rapid Talibanization.

When you allow a vast area to become lawless and outside any rules, you encourage people to become criminals. Along with the Taliban and other jihadis, he too appears to be a creation of the Pakistani and the US agencies.

If our government ever was sincere in kicking these vermin out then it would support the local opposition to baitullah and mangal bagh. These wahabi BCs are challenging the already established hierarchy in these lands, and because of that face opposition from all the bigwigs in the system.

But instead of providing support to the tribal maliks our government barges in and in doing so strengthens the taliban. It seems like getting FC jawans killed is the only way to prove our loyalty with the Bush administration.

But lets not blame everything on the Americans, anyone who still thinks that the Pakistan military is sincere in fighting these pube faced BCs should look up the Sara Rogha fort incident where about 30 brave jawans of the FC held their own against 1000 of these wannabe arabs in a small colonial fort. They fought for hours asking for air support and artillery shelling, but alas the bharvas aka our generals had other things on their mind.

There was no support of any sort, considering that the pak army is in a war ready state in that area, this is beyond a conspiracy theory and ample proof that our generals still havent given up on the idea of the "strategic depth" and want their hand fed dogs to be calling shots in pushtoon areas.
