In addition to #270, I'd like to add that the only consistent one-voice pro democracy (while understanding the issues) and pro-people and country leader that emerged with the new Pakistan (that coincided with my return to Pakistan in 1/2007, coincidence or providence, your guess!) is Imran Khan. Nevermind his bs in the old times and I wrote against his immaturity and not amounting to anything, but this has changed fully with this new Pakistan. As other so called democrats like Zardari, NS and others have fallen one by one, the latest fall was by AA, he has remained firm and consistent in the call for justice. In this new Pakistan he is leader #1 in sincerity and truth, the only trusted anti establishment voice, regardless of what that miserable swine rf420 (the establishment pusher) says

HP writes "Aitazaz is a true leader. He is taking the hits because he was the only one in the Lawyers movement who could have taken the tough decisions and he did!"
As a supporter of the movement, I differ with this estimate of AA. As I said, compromise that results in an establishment victory is bad for every movement that wants to achieve more than incremental change. They (the establishment) using AA even managed to fragment their alliance with the APDM. The lawyer's movement needs regime change, this person is no good, compromise with the dominant forces always results in their victory and further weakning of the contrarians.
We also differ regarding your assertion that the US was not the aggressor in Afghanistan, rather it was effectively able to sell its bs regarding its invasion of Afghanistan to be just when it was anything but, which was accepted by other major players because they don't give a damn about Afghanistan unlike Iraq and the wider middle east where even though the US is king, they want their respective shares of the pie so they make noise...
Our major point of contention is your belief that somehow tahmed might not be the spineless moron, white worshipping, sellout that his posts prove that he is. If you think using the kind hearted diplomacy with his kind will show him the follies of his ways, you are sadly mistaken. His kind will sell his own mama just to push the US pov, in this disease he suffers from, the white man who employed him and "saved" him from a Pakistani existance can never be talked against even when he is butchering his own countryfolk, thus his call for US troops to enter at will Pakistan to "finish the job" that drones wont accomplish...

Hamid,
can you be serious for once?
{..... i paid the man the money and quitely walked away with the cans wondering about my father .......} what were you wondering?
But Hamid, if I remember correctly your father was a pathan.
Were you not able to ask this guy to say {'is mulk wich peiyo asli nahin milda! ....} in pushto?
{..... i hope that answers your question ....} nope.
what has all this got to do with the NRO and FIR business?

bubba,
... let me answer your question with an anecdote:
... mmany years ago i had the radiator on my car repaired at a mechanic's shop in lalkurti ..... when the repairs were done, i walked over to the auto parts store and asked the guy to give me the best coolant he had available .... he handed me a couple of sealed cans with all sorts of japanese writing on them ...... when i asked him if the coolant was 'genuine' the man lost his temper and yelled, 'is mulk wich peiyo asli nahin milda! .... all i can tell you is that this is the coolant that i put in my own car' ..... i paid the man the money and quitely walked away with the cans wondering about my father .......
..... i hope that answers your question ....

Hamid mian,
Why is it not possible to cut an FIR against Musharraf? My friends have asked me this question. They say that if it was possible to get an FIR against ZAB, then it should be equally easy to get an FIR against Musharraf. It appears that recently Law Minister Farooq Ahmed Naik (PPP) has said that it is not possible for such an FIR. Why?
Is it because of the NRO? Did that agreement between the Pakistan military dictator and PPP has something to do with it? It is a real tragedy that this NRO brought BB back into the rough politics of Pakistan, and gave her young life for the masses. But the political beneficiaries of her death can not file FIR against the military dictator?
It is real strange that BB, who herself, before her death had written to her friend and confidant Mark Seguel, alleging individuals in the Musharraf administration, as those who wanted her killed.
By forgetting the sacrifices of the Bhutto family, one was killed due to the nefarious plot of an FIR lodged against ZAB, and the other was killed recently by the agreement with a dictator under the guise of NRO
How convenient it is for those PPP jiyalas who got elected by getting sympathy votes of this tragedy, to forget about bringing justice to Shaheed BB killers?
Any comment in this regard is appreciated?

#261 hamidm: i am glad you took HPs advice (and no doubt my poor presentation was responsible for your not taking the same advice from me) and promised to stay away from applauding rashid in future.
In taking that advice, you set yourself up for further self-improvement: you say we dont need heroes. and yet the past year you have been singing hoasannas to our hosni mubarak-wannabe among others!!
perhaps HP can explain this better to you, but clearly the rule of law (even if you have difficulty understanding the concept other than in the persona of the cj, who unfortunately does not meet your stringent requirements regarding placement of eyelids) is about cleaning up Murree Road as well as the rest of Pakistan. whereas singing hassanas for hosni mubarak-wannabe is about hero worship.

hp,
... we don't need heroes ... all we need are some ordinary men and women, with faults and warts, who will do what they are supposed to do ...... this desire for heroes and heroics is what is killing us ....
... anyway, if you say sheik rashid is a false hero, i will accept it as long as his replacement picks up the garbage on benazir road .......

"all politics was local, it was tip o'neill "
O'Neill also said that Reagan was "Herbert Hoover with a smile" and "a cheerleader for selfishness" and "am amiable dunce." Tip ran out of Gas!
Btw, Did you watch the vid posted by Tahmed?
I love the line: "ShaikhRashid kutta da patar, isdi na maan di khaber na pio di. Khusra a behnchod."
False heroes Hamid!

#255 hamdim: that still does not change what i wrote about your contradicting yourself (quoting "all politics is local" and ignoring the fact that rashid was kicked out by the locals of Pindi, and now claiming the voters are stupid).
To be consistent, you should be quoting not from someone from a democracy but from a dictatorship - mao tse tung e.g. ("power comes from the barrel of a gun") would be more in tune with your thinking than tip o'neill.
