tahmed (#149, #151),

All too easily you turn a blind eye towards Nawza Shariff’s political sins. You come across as a wishful thinker who continuously fails to grasp political realities.

Recently, while cheering NS on … you suggested that he has made his wealth, supposedly honestly, by setting up industrial units! Now, that’s a load of crap ... and you should know better!

Not too long ago you were cheering the onset of democracy in Iraq (rolling my eyes). It is plain to see what a fiasco that has been. But don’t let ground realities disrupt your feel-good experiments with democracy.

… or perhaps it is you who needs to wake up …

Re: # 152

Absolutely Correct.

We want Musharraf to be hanged for disrupting the Constitution - yet we are not willing to punish the LOOTERS AND PLUNDERERES OF PAKISTAN who become prime ministers TWICE and did NOTHING for the country.

The Stock Market PLUMMETS when someone says anything about Musharraf. That's the hallmark of a great leader. The ENTIRE WORLD TRUSTS MUSHARRAF and FOREIGN INVESTORS TRUST MUSHARRAF.

Who trusts Nawaz Sharif? The innocent public who are being duped again....

How NAWAZ would like to be remembered in the history of Pakistan???Well thats not rocket science, lets face the reallity,he is not an ANGEL but as corrupt as anyother paki politician is.We all know how he made money, how he got to the corriders of power, what he did to supreme court and attacked judges, put lives of over 300 people in danger by hijacking MUSHY BOY airpalbne and not allowing it s landing. You can develop pakistan only by spreading education to each and every children in the country and by brining new generation of politicians, pakistan needs to get rid of these tested politicians and lets also not forget pakistan was declared failed state when he was PM.Mr. Nawaz Sharif is totally bent upon taking revenge from Musharraf at the cost of this country’s stability. He is the only one bragging about the judiciary because he knows he cannot deliver, he can’t cut prices, construct dams or do anything for the common man. He goes to an Indian channel and talks about the setting up of a Kargil Commission. How low can you get? Your soldiers died in that battle while you were in the warmth of the White House. I wonder what Mr. Sharif has to say about the setting up of a commission to probe into the ‘karz utaro mulk sawaro’ funds, the plans of buying hundreds of acres of land up north with Indian companies to extract profits from mineral resources, the attack on Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah etc.? And lets not forget his connections with OSAMA BIN LADDEN,,who paid him millions of ruppes to run elections aginst BENAZIR.Nawaz Sharif’s only agenda was to make money. In order to achieve this goal, he formed/changed laws and policies for his personal benefit and expanded his business empire by misusing his authority as Prime Minister.Nawaz Sharif is widely acknowledged to be a highly incompetent person, with a mediocre I.Q. level. The brain behind him was that of his late “Abba Jee” (‘daddy’) - the mastermind and the main decision maker behind the scene. In order to consolidate and attain more power, N. Sharif attacked every individual and institutions he felt could get in the way challenge his authority. In order to get rid of the then Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, who was despised by Sharif, the later created divisions among the judges to make life difficult for the Chief Justice. A group of judges refused to acknowledge Shah as the Chief Justice and things got so bad that a number of junior judges put hurdles in the way of the Chief Justice in order to make it difficult for him to carry out his duties. Eventually, Sharif ordered his thugs to attack the Supreme Court in order to prevent the Chief Justice from giving a ruling against him. There is probably no institution in Pakistan which Nawaz Sharif did not aggressively confront in order make them comply to his wishes. Besides picking on a fight with the President, the Judiciary and the already restricted/limited media, Sharif also decided to have a confrontation with the army, the only viable institution left in Pakistan. Chief of Army Staff, General Jehangir Karamat, and Nawaz Sharif had a conflict over an issue pertaining to the national security council and both entered into a heated discussion, after which Gen. Karamat had to offer his resignation. Jehangir Karamat thus became the first Chief of Army Staff in the history of Pakistan to have left the army in this prematurely in this manner.Last...he cant stay in jail and was so coward made a deal with MUSHY boy and ran to SAUDI ARABIA,so what kind of leader he is who dont know about sacrifice.

hassansiddiqi #148 'Musharraf is a sincere politician who actually cares about the country. "

If he cares for the country, why doesnt he surrender to the police and acknowledge his crimes? which include - sabotaging peace talks between two elected prime ministers with his kargill mischief, and which also resulted in the loss of hundreds of soldiers on both sides for no reason.

That crime alone should get him fined at least Rs. 10, dont you think?

Attacking the Constitution of Pakistan on November 3 he has already admitted to as being a crime. So, why doesnt he demand that he be arrested, tried and given the punishment due to traitors?

Then there is that little matter of kidnapping 800 Pakistanis (also proudly noted in his book) and "disappearing" them without producing them in court. What is the punishment for kidnapping even one person? Multiply that with 800 and what does he get?

The crimes dont end here, but these are enough for now.

Thanks in advance for your considered response.

Re: # 147

NS seems to have learnt his lesson??

He has been Prime Minister TWICE. He knows EXACTLY what he is doing.

Musharraf is a sincere politician who actually cares about the country.

NS is nothing more than a bully politician willing to do whatever it takes to get in power.

If you remember - NS admitted during ARD Meeting in London that he created false charges against PPP. Is that a mark of a sincere leader??

try to remove your blinders for a change and WAKE UP!!!

#145 and who did musharraf owe his job too? NS!! and who ultimately should both NS and musharraf have seen as owing their jobs too? the Pakistani nation. NS seems to have learnt his lesson. Musharraf has not.

so, save such endless beating around the bush while ignoring the obvious issues to corrupt politicians. try and use your brains a bit.

"That the ‘honourable’ justices who handed down this crassly partisan verdict against a man who has twice been PM of Pakistan owe their jobs to Pervez Musharraf"

Iftikhar Choudry is also a PCO Judge and owed his job to Musharraf.

Now that another PCO judge is giving a verdict against Sharif - his judgement becomes "crassly" and "partisan"??

How do you sleep at night??

Goldfinger #144: So, aside from the solution being supported by PMLN (i.e. restoration of the judiciary) what realistic solution do you have to offer? (sending in agent 007 to get rid of all the bad guys is not one of them).

on the question of self-preservation: you are right that there is a great difference between that of an "ordinary" person and a crook. But what is this difference? it basically that the former works within a generally accepted legal framework and the latter does not. Which brings me back to the paramount importance of a proper legal framework and governance structure for any society. Which is being supported by only one party in Pakistan today, the PMLN.

Re: # 142

tahmed32, difference between the property of self preservation of an ordinary being trying to preserve its existence, and a crook trying to preserve his life of crookedness and thuggery is great, even though it ultimately might be kind of the same urge of preservation.

As for the rest of your opinion on NS, I only say that this goof's past two terms in office were thuggish, horrific and shameful, and he left the nation in dire financial straits. Ditto BB and AZ. It is amazing that despite all of this these clowns were allowed to participate yet once again in elections! And what a shame that all these parties and people clamor for democracy and themselves operate on the premise of monarchies.
