MKG's fault was that he brought bad apples in the Muslim community to the fore rather than supporting the more progressive elements.
Turns out that the "bad apples" turned out to be less harmless than the supposedly good apples. While the bad apples may have succeeded in killing a few hundred Hindus, the good applies surpassed the bad apples by killing hundreds and thousands of Hindus and Sikhs.

Harishbhai,
No, MAJ (pbuh) was not pure as driven snow. He was a man, warts and all. I am only asking you to be reasonable.

Pakistan had given right to entry to IMs till 1950s so theoretically if any IM felt aggrieved, he could have migrated.
So what do you make of his comment that Indian Muslims weren't his problem?
Secondly, MAJ (pbuh) never contemplated that either India or Pakistan would maltreat their minorities or there would be such cast iron boundaries between two countries.
This is so laughable. Why then was Jinnah just a few years ago shouting from the rooftops that yoking a Muslim minority permanently under a Hindu majority was a recipe for disaster and that the subcontinent would plunge into civil war?
You can accuse MAJ of being naive but not callous.
Sure Majumdar bhai! Jinnah was as pure as fresh snow. Happy now?

Ajeya babu,
MKG's fault was that he brought bad apples in the Muslim community to the fore rather than supporting the more progressive elements. And he began the pandering to minority fundamentalists (Moplahs) a policy which has been adopted by GOI/INC as well. And which in turn strengthens majority communalism.
Hope that clarifies.

Masadi sahib,
ML had been gaining ground even before 1939. And QIM was a strategic blunder on part of INC. India was already gradually moving towards self-rule and nothing much was to be achieved by QIM. OTOH, if Brits had been beaten we would have ended up with Japanese masters, which wudnt have done us any good either. All you can say is that ML behaved somewhat oppourtunistically but that is true for all political parties.

Once this was achieved, it was relatively easy to take the divide and rule to its logical conclusion and ignore the franchise of a large chunk that had been made to "trust" in him.
Masadi sahib, what you say appears to be true. When Jinnah was asked about what would happen to Muslims left behind in India (by MC Chagla I think), he is reported to have said that it wasn't his problem. How callous can one be about the people who blindly trusted him!!

Majumdar sahib, you should read the history of how using WW2 MAJ got into the pants of the British to monopolize the Muslim vote, pressure Congress to be presented as a Hindu only party and the coersive techniques he used to use a Zia ul Haq like technique where a vote against him would render someone a non-Muslim....

Masadi sahib,
Muslims in India did not trust his judgment.
They did. They voted for him almost en masse.
take the divide and rule to its logical conclusion
The divide started long before MAJ (pbuh) took up the TNT demand. It is false to blame him for it.
I would make some of my other feelings about him explicit in words
You should.
We lament it when you (or anyone else) makes an attack on another chowkie but MAJ (pbuh) or any other political personality cannot be given the same protection. He had an impact on the lives of millions and if you have any criticism, however harsh, it must be made. It will be upto his defenders to defend him.

#496 Harish sahib,
Good morning to you. Muslims in India did not trust his judgment. Unfortunately he used the British to manipulate representation of the Muslim vote, and even used coersive techniques to get them to consider it the only Muslim voice and for Congress to declare itself a Hindu only party. Once this was achieved, it was relatively easy to take the divide and rule to its logical conclusion and ignore the franchise of a large chunk that had been made to "trust" in him. I would make some of my other feelings about him explicit in words but I am restrained....
Have a good day,

Majumdar sahib if Jinnah believed in the "Brits fairness", then he was even more ignorant than I had previously assumed.
Masadi sahib, this is an argument that has come to the fore time and again. If Jinnah was this foolish, millions of Indian Muslims made a fatal mistake by trusting his judgment and putting their lives at grave risk by moving to the nation he founded. In the process, hundreds of thousands lost their lives unnecessarily.

Soysauce #417: ``Romair, would you revisit your prediction that t-shirt with pak flags would be popular in the US?``
Most definitely.....As I said, I am ready to revisit anything......Of all the comments I have made on Chowk, I would rank this one as one of the most far-sighted. And accurate.
My prediction was that, the relations between USA and Pakistan would go through a sea-change. T-shirts, with a Pakistani flag on them, being a symbol of rising popularity of Pakistan in the USA. Much like Ghalib uses symbols in his poetry to make a point.......
And that is exactly what happened. Pakistani and USA relations have exponentially improved, since then. Pakistan is now one of the closest allies with the USA. While before then, Pakistan was one of the most sanctioned countries by the USA. Pakistan is now a non-NATO ally.
Bill Clinton refused to meet Musharraf before then. Now the President of Pakistan is one of the most sought after individuals in the USA. He is the only South Asian leader who was invited to Camp David. He was ranked as the 21st most influential leaders in the world. Even the Ambassador of Pakistan to the USA was ranked amongst the top 70.
The relations between the USA and Pakistan, and the popularity of Pakistan in the USA is the highest it has been in many decades. It will never be as popular as UK and Israel. But it is still a sea-change. So what I stated proved correct, even beyond my own wildest imagination............
The amount of interest in Pakistan, from the USA, has gone up manifold. If you don`t believe me, then just read the President of USA`s own remarks, which he delivers so many times......the average Pakistani`s importance is far higher for USA, then ever before......
``US President George W. Bush rewarded Pakistan with ``major non-NATO ally`` status,....
``I hereby designate the Islamic Republic of Pakistan as a major non-NATO ally of the United States``
The above is from the leader of the USA`s mouth......So you shoudl believe it.....

fissures in the middle...fissures in the backside..
Reserves left only for 45 days import requirement
“Pakistan reserves at present stand at $10.487 billion out of which Commercial Banks have $3 billion meaning by that State Bank of Pakistan has only $7 billion with forward liability of $1.2 billion. Foreign reserves are depleting by $250 million to $300 million a week,” the official said.
“The dismal foreign reserves situation has prompted the government to tow the line of previous regime of floating bonds in the international market to arrange financial support to maintain foreign reserves at reasonable level.
Rupee nears record low

KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee slipped closer to record lows on Wednesday due to pressure from import payments and outflows from the stock market, due to mounting fear of a showdown between the new civilian government and President Pervez Musharraf.

Chowk denizens please note:
Under the new Tahmed guidelines, terms like "wuss" are abusive. However, terms like "Indian clown" and "half brained loser" are polite.

[In acknowledging and correcting himself, Masadi has put himself head and shoulders above these indian clowns or hamidm or others i could name who have been coming to chowk for years and are still the same abusive, half-brained losers they were years ago.]
Chowk denizens please take note of this latest IMPORTANT tahmed transmission. Don't be an abusive "half-brained loser". Use polite language like tahmed. Then you can be a "winner" like tahmed.
