pakistan is not afghanistan or lebabnon and India is not US, US has huge and most advanced military on which it speands nearly trillion dollars every year in one way or another, more than Inia's entire gdp. And US may have remained attack free even without war.

but around 5000 US soldiers have died and 10s of thousands wounded and disabled, plus US is isolated by two oceans and yet US citizens are not safe anywehere in the asia or africa

"Attempts to "do a Lebanon" always backfire like they did for Israel. Instead of ending terror, such attempts give rise to more "911s"

Not necessarily, the US has not been attacked for 7 years now. Who would have thought that possible just after Sep 11.

Re: # 51 kaal

you are wasting bandwidth on people like Riaz - they count for nothing in muslim scheme of things... "secular" type like him have no voice or standing in pakistan... in fact, people like him will executed first thing by the jihadis, as soon as they get a chance...

I congratulate Gnani Sankaran for his voice of reason in the cacophony demanding that India "do a Lebanon" in Pakistan. Attempts to "do a Lebanon" always backfire like they did for Israel. Instead of ending terror, such attempts give rise to more "911s". This vicious cycle can only be stopped if the terrorists of all kind, irrespective of religion or nationality, are brought to justice and the roots of the problem addressed calmly. A wholistic is necessary.

Cheema ji has two great errors of mind, IMO :)

(1) He thinks every religions is metaphysically, spiritually, or whatever is the SAME.

(2) People belonging to all religions have the SAME political identity as Muslims.

It is going to be hard to convince him of that. It is part of the unique-unique same-same aspect of Islam I once wrote about. It's very hard to get over it. LOL

sure, cheema ji.

(didn't understand your point though. I think people like gnani sankaran - a new hamid-gul hindu pops up on chowk every other day so it's hard to recall their names - are a mortal threat to India and everything India should stand for if it has to exist as India (which may not be important to these hamid-gul Hindus).

Later.

Publius, who is sankrant sanu?

Re: # 40; publius

I wasn't referring to the 'essence' of anything ... but the 'politics' of it ... the identity we were speaking of is 'politically' defined ... 'essence' and 'belief' don't come into it ... more to do with group dynamics

really gotta go .. khuda hafiz

To the author, you seem to suggest Indian Muslims' support for their country is a lot more conditional than that of Hindus. Why do you feel this?
