Urstruly writes "If in pre-historic times Hindustan was a great culture, then how come none of the religious nuts we come accross knows the basic ettiquets to behave"
Truly sahib, do a spell check first and then note that your point is extremely weak and can be made regarding any group. Further your sample is biased, based on selective observation and ignores the long history between the preceived civilization, the period of incivility of the British and the end result....
In other words, get an education, and refrain from childishly looking at everything through your value system or the morality you consider to be "natural", otherwise you'll remain an ignoramus and quite un-Islamic I should add...
Have a nice day,

Hamid writes "it seems that some good has come out of the time masadi, urstruly and zeemax have spent in the civilized world.."
Yes my time in Pakistan before going to the US helped me deal with the barbarism of an inhumanity and impersonality of a bureaucratized society, that is plastic through and through. Had I not spent time in the "civilized" Pakistan, I would have lost all hope in humanity....

tahmed writes "What masadi means by Freedom of Speech..."
How would you know what I mean by freedom of speech? I sure as hell don't mean that the corporations can reach tens of millions and sway entire populations by the BS while the common joe gets to reach 10 or 12- that is no freedom of speech, the kind that is practiced by your beloved masters. On the other hand arguiing with points against your opponent and being banned for that by the miserable chowk staff is a clear violation of that "freedom", and your desire to get me banned by terming that "putting down others" is similar BS and censorship.
Now take a hike,

Anil writes "Poverty is all over to be lived, have you ever tried to work in those slums with slum dog"
Anil mian learn some English, this Hindlish just doesn't make any goddamned sense. Poverty cannot be dealt with through private solutions, by working in the slums when you leave the slum producing factory in tact. Those that commandeer the machinery that produces slums, your "entrepreneurs" are the "dogs" in the equation.
I told you to keep away from my posts, now look what a damn fool you have made of yourself again...

I must have passed over his posts, they are worthless which post are you referring to?

For sake of argument lets assume the writer is correct in his analysis, state of Pakistan is giving these people official recognition so they can become part of the system and be neutralized, then we also have to accept the reality that those who monopolize violence can veto the ballot results, which again justifies military operations may that be against insurgents or elected people. Using the same standard, American and NATO use of violence is justified. Where does it end, there s no end to this cycle of violence.I agree with u, this article has malafide interest.

As I have admitted - I used the wrong words. It was a mistake, not trying to be 'overclever'. Now that we have this behind us (hopefully), I don't think that you have addressed Dost Mittar's comments adequately.
For one, when you ask Dost to, 'practice in Hinduism or Sikhism what you preach for Muslims to do. Namely, define religion based on the views/actions of the most uneducated and criminal elements in society' is not really a fair comparison. Why?
Because whatever ills are ascribed (rightly or wrongly) to Hinduism are outlawed in India (sati, caste discrimination, etc). This is not to say that this does not still happen - it does. But it does so illegally and without sanction from the will of the majority. I am not aware of any similar 'ills' stemming from Sikhism. This is in CONTRAST to the legal sanction given to the Objectives Resolution, Sharia Courts, and now strict Taliban rule in Swat. The key difference is of official sanction. And before you say that these were passed by 'mullahs, thugs, generals, etc.' bear in mind that the Objectives Resolution was passed by a duly elected and legitimate Constituent Assembly. The strict Islamist law being brought into force is under the name of an elected President. The Shariat Bill was being passed by a popularly elected civil government (Nawaz Sharif). It cannot be argued that these did not have the will of the majority.
Ciao.

"...exchange of insults and belittling..."
Did I insult or belittle you by pointing out seeming contradictions or seeking clarifications? If so, it speaks more about you than it does about me.

hamidm #450 What masadi means by Freedom of Speech, like most childish posters on chowk, is Freedom of Speech by Masadi. His use of ridicule and putdowns for anyone who similarly exercises his freedom is clearly designed to curb others' freedom.
What you say about Urstruly is more accurate (to his credit, despite his unfortunate inclination towards the adoration of the terrorist mullahs), although even in his case he can resort once in a while to the "mullah defense" of declaring those of the opposing viewpoint to be mirzais.

#453 By no reasonable stretch can what I wrote in #436 about the objectives resolution be considered an "apology" for it. If you wish to have a serious discussion on anything (as opposed to trivial persuits of exchange of insults and belittling), please make an effort to stay within the bounds of reason rather than trying to put me on the defensive on everything I write. Thanks.

Re: # 452 Tahmed
Sahib:
I chose the wrong words. I should have written, 'As long as apologists like you for the Objectives Resolution....'
The reason that I use word 'apologist' is because you appear to be defending the Objectives Resolution in #436 when you state, "You refer to the objectives resolution (yes, surprise, pakistan was formed as a separate nation for muslims in the subcontinent!!)"
Was that your intent?
What does Kashmir have to do with this? (You don't have to answer it because the answer is obvious. I ask this only to address one issue at a time).

#448 "apologize"?? where do you see me apologizing for the fact the objectives resolution? why do you think any pakistani owes indians any apology for anything?? for calling the bogus claims on kashmir and the shameless indian attempts at holding on to a people who are even more antagonized than ever towards india after 60 years of indian occupation??
