"India," Zardari has said categorically, "is not our enemy."
Let me explain this in simple terms so pakis can understand...
after the soviet withdrawal, the paki army could have rolled back the jihadi adventure...but it chose to continue it and give it a boost..the islamic warriors were going to win strategic depth in afghanistan..which is fancy way of saying pakiland was planning to use the talipakis to control afghanistan and force the taliban rule down the throats of the hapless afghans...
the islamic warriors were also going to win kashmir for the land of the pure...
in short, the whole strategy was akin to breeding a poisonous snake in your pocket hoping to use it against your enemies...
then 9/11 happened and the whole strategy became unglued...uncle sam leaned on pakiland and the army, the real rulers, had to put the poisonous snake in back in their pockets...then they thought they could continue to feed the snake in their pocket hoping to use it later...
now they're finding out that their pants aren't snakebite proof...
the funniest part is the paki liberals who want everyone to look upon pakiland as the victim...completely disregarding the fact that the vast majority of the paki junta was on board with the jihadi strategy when they thought they had a chance at getting kashmir from the hindoos....
blowback is the female of the canine species....

I second arjun's comments.
The whole Paki army plus the same liberal leftist elite who have now started singing like canaries, were hell bent upon liberating kashmir from the hindu banya.
Things back fired and the same snake which was supposed to bite India started biting Paki army plus paki elites.
So now paki elite plus paki army needs to get rid of the snake and all its efforts have failed to get rid of it.
So what is the solution? God help Pakistan!

Naqvi criticised the Indian media for its self-absorbed, blinkered view of Pakistan, "happy to show repeated looped shots of a mullah on a Pakistani channel ranting that India be destroyed, if necessary with nuclear weapons" (‘Peace activists are great folks, so why are we still in trouble?’, Dawn, Jan. 26, 2009).
]]
And who does it help to portray Pakistan something else than what it is? Does it help Pakistan? How many Mullahs and military generals in Pakistan are hell bent in destroying India even if they themselves get destroyed in that pursuit?
Most Indian's would not like to see religion as a dividing line between India and Pakistan, as India has equal number of muslims (moreover Hindus have been more liberal than any other religion). But Pakistan got created on that basis and worked towards disintegrating India further on religious basis.
India with all its flaws has much more at stake than Pakistan, 9 times more population, much diverse people, much diverse ideas, so while dealing with a country like Pakistan where diplomacy/open-deception/religious-fundamentalism, all fall in same place, India must be extra cautious, else just in order to please some journalists like Javed Naqvi, they may endanger over 1 billion people. Pakistan has enough military generals who will like to bomb India with nuclear bomb just in a hope that it will destabilize India and will create better place for Islamic conquest (taliban style).

So bad.
Over here we have a Shariah law in Swat only. Across the border people live under a combination of Hindutva and Bhajang-raj, with a illusion of democracy and secularism.
Sad-sad situation hai yaar ye tu! :(

#10 surely things in swat cant be as bad as in india!! to compare the sad, sad indian situation to any other country on earth is to trivialize it!! it is like comparing the holocaust to a mere street brawl!

Re: # 1
arjun...
this was supposed to be, after formation of islamic country of Pakistan...
when brits, punjus and sindhis left, they left some institutions, which helps to maintain human civilisation...
now, it may take another 30/40 years or little more to make pakistan a real islamic state......
