I dont think this article was about people not wanting to talk with others nor child abuse as an issue was the topic.
I think this was about the indifference that we have towards our society and our surroundings. We all are happy or sad in our own domains, giving a damn to ANYTHING that doesnt bother us directly.

I think it was a great idea to not include your own actions in the article since the article is not about you but about your observation of the society. It reminds me of a photographer taking a picture of an event. Obviously the photographer would not want to be in the picture themselves ;)

read the title "phantom passengers" meaning nothing moved them even a child getting beat up mercilessly.

I did what I could to make the bus conductor realize what he had done and comforted the boy compassionately. I even encouraged him to leave the 'job' and come with me. He not only refused to come with me but also requested me not to proceed against his 'ustad'(senior in that profession). I understood his difficult situation.
I intentionally avoided to mention it for fear of missing the point I had in mind while writing this article.

A lot of people just don't feel like talking to strangers. That is an entirely different topic from the widespread acceptance of child abuse in India, and obviously also in Pakistan. You're conflating two different topics.
