we need to stop thinking that we are awaiting our messiah. we have no other spirit than ourselves. need to invest in us from within. no leader here is the answer. the are the solutions we do not need any more.

Re: # 17: I wish you could be true.

What you write is the controlled situation as of today. If Paskistan goes Somalia way, that is uncontrolled and unpredictable, but there is enough history starting much earlier than 60 years to make an educated guess. And boy they take pride in it.

Re: # 17
Pakistans descent into Somalia could let a flood of refugees into India. Migrants in Delhi and Mumbai are not welcome, we all know.

Re: # 8
Rasid...
"Pakistans descent into a Somalia like situation could have a damaging effect on the Indian economic growth...."
May not be....India-Pakistan do not share good trade and industrial relationship....Pakistan imports auto components from Thailand and Malaysia with higher cost than that from India....Neither India uses Pakistani logistics to propagate trade....A Pakistan under military dictator, is beneficial for China....they will ensure that the real power of Pakistani administration lies in the hand of army officers...

Re: # 2
Riaz Haq....
Malayasia houses healthy population of Chinku and Indians, which provide the backbone of the eduation and industrial reform....If dictatorship is so good model, African and South Amreican countries would have progressed more than US and Europe (keeping aside the conspiracy theory)....

It makes sense if you read the bhmasur story from Hindu scriptures. The asur that Jinna has created is out to get you now. The end is in end itself. Kinda like the self exploding jihadi, the idea has adopted diabolically self destructive path.

Re: # 13, "in fact a failed pakiland where pakis keep killing each other is good for india - keep jihadis busy on their side..."

Only to some extent. Imagine if Pak descends, economically, politically and loses control over its population as well as the umpteen Jihadi/Lashkar groups. Many more Abduls would get tempted to riches/prosperity of India (a la bangladeshi infiltrators) or many Kasabs easily brain washed for waging Jihad in India. That is natural progression. The long porus borders and local support makes it all the more difficult to handle such migrations.

With Pakistan surviving, its population has all the reasons to feel blessed in pure land and would stay put there itself.

[...Pakistans descent into a Somalia like situation could have a damaging effect on the Indian economic growth." Yes you are right...]

Like what? looks like this has become a self-fulfilling prophecy without any explanation...

Pakiland being somalia or whatever else has minimal impact on india - there is minimal trade relations with these india and pakistan... in fact a failed pakiland where pakis keep killing each other is good for india - keep jihadis busy on their side...

Re: # 10:
A hearty round of applause to you for your remarkable candid observation, "..Alas! As it turned out she too was more than a feudal lady ..." I can't think of arrival of a redemer in Pakistan. Chances are that Pakistan might implode with disastrous ramifications to the country and surrounding region. All this F16 fighters and boast "possessor of Atom Bumb" will not protect any one in the country. So let us keep our finger crosses and wait. Kamath

Re:#9
I spy through the corner of my eye, India taking on the job of a US watchdog in the region. The work that the Pakistan establishment performed over the years of cold war.

Is there a Redeemer in Pakistan?
One had hoped that BB the Beautiful Benazeer would be one.
Alas! As it turned out she too was more than a feudal lady in nominating her baby son for chairmanship of “Peoples Party, so that her form of DEMOCRACY and wealth stayed in the Zardari-Bhutto family!
Shareef brothers? The recycled -aazmaye huye- jaagirdar.
Similarly the “wuklaa movement too turned out to be ‘one issue’ vested interest movement. Ch. Iftikhar’s – feudal lord of the Judiciary--reinstatement of, and nothing else.
For democracy to establish itself in South & Sth. East Asia, there needs to be October 17 type revolution to dislodge family-inherited democracy. The sooner the better.
Rashid

Re: # 8 Malik:

"I find it hard to believe that India could gladly accomodate 170million muslims of Pakistan." Never....it will rob India of the benefits that accrued as a result of the TNT, though unknowingly.

"Pakistans descent into a Somalia like situation could have a damaging effect on the Indian economic growth." Yes you are right, that is why we wish that pakistan should survive at all costs.

There is no doubt that Pakistan is in a turmoil. But I do not see it disintegrating. The turbulence in Afghanistan, FATA, NWFP and Baluchistan has attracted international response and worlds best equipped forces are out there to take it on. If the US can deliver on the 5 year aid for democracy and the political power could be shifted from the military to civilian rule, Pakistan could see some resolution to its provincial and governance issues. The biggest threat to Pakistan comes from its military which has seen itself as the omnipotent ruler of the country. If there is a military takeover, Pakistan could descent into becoming a Somalia. I find it hard to believe that India could gladly accomodate 170million muslims of Pakistan. Pakistans descent into a Somalia like situation could have a damaging effect on the Indian economic growth.

Mubarakein ! the freedom struggle is moving forward in your homeland. Please do not condemn these misguided youth - first think of the root cause that is leading them to jihad.

A suicide bomber struck in an upper-class neighborhood of the capital on Saturday night, killing at least eight paramilitary security officers posted at a camp set up on a main road for the protection of the area’s foreign diplomats and well-to-do residents.

Re: # 2 Altaf Hussain can fit conditions led by Prof Riaz Haq. But Altaf does not believe in dicttorship. So that is no option. Still man is to be born who can touch fredual land owneship of existing order. It is very difficult even to talk of paying taxes reasonably. This anarchic landlords and serf system will keep country downwards it is hard to escape gravity the burden placed by fedualand ownership. This probably excludes the country rising out of clutches where existing system is less productive and creates tiny wealth.
Good day.
