Loop: No body is asking for americans to land any where.
It is not MQM leadership but Army which is slave army hope you real Ustruely. I do not agree with many points. But he has correctly characterized as mercenary Napak army, brave in bombing own people and Haramkhor and have no shame to surrender to Indians or Talibs. It is basically Punjabi beast army a parasite on national life.
Please do not bring in Altafbhai. His moving to UK is strategic protective succesful defensive action as in chase wise people start with Sicilian or indian defence moves. They are prudent. You know that just like BB was killed he will be killed , too many guns floating and lots of enemies and game is either kill or get killed. From Fortrified castle he is guiding aganst Talibans and sympathisers.Kindly support Altaf than all those Punjabi and sindhi professional coward politicians. For your kind consideration Talib will slaughter all so called educated liberals. Please do not support Talibs.
Now stop ditribe against mr Hussain and study his lecturers they are quite didatics. About longivity Altaf bhai will be there for long time, can you give garanttee for any of your punjabi and sindhi politicians ?

MR. FREE HUSSAINI KARACHI IS NOT ONLY MADE OF MQM PPL. THEY JUST MAKE UP A MINORITY.
IF YOU ARE SO CONCERED TELL MR. ALTAF HUSSAIN TO SEND YOU PLANES AND TAKE YOU ALL TO UK. IT WILL ALSO CUT HIS TELE BILLS IN HALF.
PAKISTANI PPL (EXCEPT FOR THE THE MQM) HAVE THEIR DIGNITY AND THEY WILL NEVER ACCEPT A KAFIR ARMY LANIDN ON ITS SOIL AND MAKING DECISIONS FOR THEM.
YOU ARE A TRAITOR OF MASSIVE PROPOTIONS!!!
90% PPL IN THE COUNTRY WILL OPT FOR ISLAMIC RULE AND WILL HELP THE TALIBAN (INFACT I SAY ISLAM BECAUSE I THINK ISLAM IS BEING IGNORED UNDER THE UMBRELLA WORD OF TALIBAN, WE SUPPORT ANYONE WHO BRINGS ISLAM) SHOULD THEY LAND IN THEIR CITIES.. AND IF THE TALIBAN COME AND ENFORCE SHARIAH LAW AND THEN ASK US TO SWEEP THE ROADS DAY AND NIGHT, BY ALLAH WE WILL DO IT!!!

The Taliban leaders have announced their Capture-Karachi Plan.
It is time Mr. Altaf Hussain asks the United States to land in Karachi, as soon as possible.
The U.S. is the only ally the 17 million people of Karachi are left with to seek protection from against the onslaught of the Taliban.
The people of Karachi are in the same situation the Bengalis were in 1971. The Bengalis had to seek help from India. Now, Mr. Altaf Hussain has to do the same and seek military protection from the U.S. for Karachi, right away.
It is time Mr. Altaf Hussain picks up the phone and lets President Barack Obama that the people of Karachi would welcome the American troops as their saviors, as their friends.
A delay would be lethal for Karachi.

Have you heard about due process in any democratic setup? Do you know how your right-wing bigots have been intimidating any lawyer willing to represent Qasab? Do you know that, if Indian democracy and judiciary wish to maintain any semblance of respectability, the judges must throw Qasab's confession out because it was extracted through torture?

dear muslim brothers and sisters
these are difficult times and do not get swayed by what the media is saying or some narrow minded kafirs are saying.
at this point it is crucial that you save your faith.
the slightest hint of sarcasm on the taliban or the laws of islam and you can step out of the boundary of islam.
all opinions must be weighed in the light of Quran and Sunnah and we must consult leading imam;s and follow their principles, and most agree on the taliban rule and deem them worthy people.
Insha-Allah if Islamic Law is adopted we will see things improve. because Allah helps those who help his religion.
(this comment is only for muslims and non muslims are welcome to read and ponder on the wonders of Islam and are encouraged to join Islam; but please do not comment.)

"stop getting worked up guyz. the article makes a valid point. violent upheavels have always been part of human history. there is no reason to believe they will disappear from the historical scene. neither have these upheavels been carried out by intellectually or morally superior people; rather always the opposite. witness the visigoths, the vandals, the huns, the mongols. none of these were in any sense an advanced race;..."
with huns.... missed muslas under Muhammed.....
All were barbarians...and the answer is there with the writings of Homer...Basic defference of perception about purpose of life (between Spartans and Athenians)...
How it cools down? When they reach civilised place and get influenced by it...Muslas living in India are not that barbaric like middle eastern or central asians muslas of that time...Huns got taste of human civilisation in India and settled and even some of their descendents are now jains....when you isolate these violent groups, you exposed their real behaviour....Creation of Pakistan, exposed the muslas much more than anything in modern age......

Re: # 25 ellora: "How about drones and daisycutters ? Disruptive forces for change ? Creative destruction ? And what about Guantanamo ? Institute for higher education and retraining ?"
Drones and Daisycutters and Guantanamo are not likely to "disrupt" and "change" anything. What will "disrupt" and "change" events on the ground is a strategy that succeeds in persuading the unwashed masses and the military to resist the growing Taliban onslaught.

Re: # 22 banjara:
A very eloquent recognition and articulate defense of the ideas presented in the article and my comments. Let's just hope the "hard reset" is not too long or too hard on the people of the region as the events unfold. Let's also hope that after the agents of change "ruthlessly cleanse the body of the toxic wastes", there is a healthy and balanced society in Pakistan and the entire region where "new generation may be able to start with a clean slate."

stop getting worked up guyz. the article makes a valid point. violent upheavels have always been part of human history. there is no reason to believe they will disappear from the historical scene. neither have these upheavels been carried out by intellectually or morally superior people; rather always the opposite. witness the visigoths, the vandals, the huns, the mongols. none of these were in any sense an advanced race; they were all quarrelsome and bloodthirsty marauders; yet they excelled with ruthless warfare for any of their hapless victims to be able to stand up to them; and they took no prisoners.
a more philosophical view should make us realize that nature uses these agents of destruction for destruction's sake, for a purpose. and that is to do a violent and hard reset, so things can start afresh, when they have deteriorated beyond all acceptable limits in human affairs. don't u think that a case can be made that the region that we are talking about may be ripe for such an upheavel?
wise sages in eastern medicine do it on purpose by administering very potent and violent cleaning agents (call it jullab or mus-hill or whatever) to ruthlessly cleanse the body of the toxic wastes lest they destroy the body itself. there may indeed be some method to all this madness after all.
there is a horrible violent mess out there; of that there is no doubt. but for many (like me also), there is no dog in this fight. the animals, be they white, brown, unshaven and uncouth or supposedly civilized, will do their job and disappear from the scene. a lot of us would have gotten our just desserts because our inaction and decadence led to this. as chengiz khan told the weeping notables of bokhara "i am god's punishment sent forth to destroy you". those who fail to learn from history are condemned to re-live it over and over again.
new generation may be able to start with a clean slate. here is to that future ...

Taliban are not the problem. The real problem are the english educated robber. It is the enlightened moderates who are the problem. they are like little lizards which change colour. Today one colour tomorrow one colour.
This crying like a wolve should be stopped immediately. The EMs should do something about it if they are bothered so much by the taliban, and stop asking others for help. Taliban are a reality, they are here to stay, so they need to deal with it.
The first question the EMs should ask themselves is this are they real muslims?. If yes, then they should stand up and fight injustice. If no, then they should be scared.
Otherwise, like the lizard which changes colours they should start wearing Black Turbans, and get their women into a burkha.
The problem is not the taliban. The problem is the enlightened moderates and the english educated robbers.

Miyan,
Isn'tit an article in full admiration of the 'effective' violent and mafiaso like techniques of Talibanis??
Instrad of intellectualizing , it should be treated as a band of mafiasos out to subvert and capture power using religion and weapons!!!
Period!!
Once you are in agreement with their political aims you have already allowed them to rule over you.

I do not have any love for the narrow, corrupt elite that continues to rule Pakistan to the detriment of its people, nor do I like the Taliban or their brand of intolerant Islam.
But this is not an opinion piece in support of any particular group...Taliban or Hizbullah, nor does it endorse their violent methods and abhorrent tactics. Instead, it is focused on understanding how these groups operate to achieve their ends. They are clearly able tap into the deep discontent in Pakistan with the status quo, especially among the youth. As I say in conclusion of the piece: "To master this new world, it is important for us to learn from the revolutionaries. Whether we see them as the good guys or the bad guys, they do understand the new laws of power in this new world."
