Humay Manzil Nahi Rehnuma Chahyay was a slogan in honor of Quaid-e-Tahreek, Altaf Husssain Bhai. It’s obvious that the manzil (destination) was very much decided which was / is to
I) Eliminate Feudalism
II) Give out Full Provincial Autonomy to All Provinces (check out MQM’s 18th Amendment)
III) Re-structure the unjust NFC Award Distribution based on population

you forgot the one when MQM boycotted the election. popular graffiti which still exists on some walls of Karachi

"vote do, maut lo" implying "if you vote, you deserve death"

I think MQM has been most media savvy. Does anyone remember the song

"saathi, mazloomon ka saathi Altaf hussain
jo zulm say dat kar larhta hai
jo kehta hai wo karta hai
har mushkil say hans hans kar takraanay wala hai
saathi,....."

then there was another one

"mighty,......Superman!!!!
Altaf Hussain!!!"

there was another on the tune of Indian film Maachis song "chappa chappa charkha chalay"

it was

"chappa chappa caravan chalay
jahan mere quaid k qadam para kartay thay
jahan us k karkunon k naray utha kartay thay..

and so on.

something along similar lines

Dear writer

Slogans from the past

"Tara Masih ayega Bhutto ko latkyega" with young men from ISLAMI JAMIAT E TULABA running around the campus with an effigy of Bhutto hanging on a bamboo stick.

Then there was the infamous PML (N) or Punjab Muslim Leagues slogan:

"JAAG PUNJABI JAAG, THERI PUGG NU LAGEE LAATH"

Or, the doctored photo images of BB and Begum Nusrat B spread across Punjab by the PML-N, yet that did not get your kind attention.

Or, the multitude of anti Shia slogans written across the country, Jihadi slogans YET all you could point out was the MQM slogans.

I can sit here and defend MQM sloganeering but that would be futile for many people like yourself have no capacity to understand or comprehend that there could be a very good reason for such sloganeering.

Then there was the PUNJABI-PUSHTOON ITTEHAD (PPI) in Karachi, all very well armed and supported by their brothers from the north whose leadership comprised of thugs and drug barons. Yet, that is not visible to the wannabe liberals.

Please note, MQM is not going away no matter what people like yourself promote for the MQM voter will always vote MQM. And do us a favor, change the title to I HATE MQM.

For mullahs from secular student federations,
''chine chine guth sa sah'' means mullah get lost.

spending half of the article over 'hum ko manzil nahi rahnuma chaihyee' while not saying a thing about others slogans is clearly a sign of the biased view of the author. Does she think 'Mard-e-momin mard-e-haq' slogan means no one is murd in pakistan besides the mardood zia-ul-haq? :)

oh and she missed few more

'MaareiN Goli kar deiN Charyyaa - Lines area lines area'
'Pahlay goli baad may baat - Azizabad Azizabad'
'Aiwaanu kay chaaru taraf - haq parast haq parast'
'Sab say kah do saaf saaf, apna quadi hay altaf'

What about "Zaalimo jawab do, khoon ka hisaab do", "Na Klashan na tee-tee, Haqiqui Haqiqui", "Qarz utaro, mulk sanwaaro", "Benazir aayaygi, roazgar layaygi", 'Sindh main jis ko rehna hay to jiyay mahajir kehna hay", etc.

By the way, your take on MQM has its valid points; but do refrain from thinly disguising it as a balanced political anlysis of all parties. Come out bravely and say it like it is. You will find your supporters.

When are we going to move from political parties which are nothing more then cult worship of their founders to actual political parties? Parties that are based upon political ideologies, of manifestos, of philosophies and leaders who attain their position because they are best suited to achieve those goals. They all scream about and participate in elections but never have elections within their ranks.

We can dismiss this too as just another thing that is wrong with the system, but this one is entirely doable. With enough questions in the media and embarrassing the leadership in public especially if the able rank and file decides to demand accountability it could be forced on the Rehnuma.

Re: # 12
We will move to a actual political party culture when...

1. The leaders start from grass roots, such as councilors, and work their way to the top rather than having their spouse/dad murdered ;

2. When the sons/daughters/nephews of a leader will not wait in the wings to assume daddy's seat;

3. When the administration has the right (and balls) to analyze the accounts of parties and their donors;

4. When leaders talk about issues rather than personality clashes;

5. When the electorate is educated enough to read the names and credentials of the candidates rather than mere symbols of the parties;

6. When...okay, I can't type so much...it will happen when hell freezes over.

That is imminent, isn't it?
