Words are the currency of a discourse, presently underway in Pakistan, and the nature of this discourse is to differentiate the confusion that prevails anongst the Pakistani public and its' opinion makers. In order to understand this campaign or any other campaign in history, a simple question needs to be answered: which is the "right side" in any particular war or conflict?
Each side will use words to convince itself that it is on the "right side" of a war and interestingly enough; such words are not meant to convince the general public at large, but to reinforce one's own sense of believe in the cause one is fighting.

Islam has been hijacked by radical extremeist who use the teaching of the Holy Quaran as an excuse to commit terrorist acts. Daily terror attacks across the country give abundant proof that religious extremism has streamed down the mountains into the plains. Through abductions, beheadings and suicide bombings, Taliban insurgents are destabilising Pakistan, damaging its economy and spreading despondency. the extremists have high-profile cheerleaders like Imran Khan, Qazi Hussain Ahmad and Hamid Gul who rush to justify every attack on Pakistan’s people and culture. Islamic clerics who praise the Taliban are also Satan's followers

Ibrahim:
Manipulating words is nothing new. It has been part of the propaganda for a long time. I remember during the peace loving US president Carter's time when the term " Enhanced Radiation device" was used for a nuclear bomb. Soon critics rediculed the name. It is now known as " Neutron Bomb".
How about precision air-strikes ,!
Lastly, how about the Pakistani President using the word, --Non-state actors who were engaged in Terrorist activities.
-They are not Pakistanis-!! Even if a bird walks like a duck, quacks like a duck- it is a duck right?
How about moderate Talibani and middle-of-the road Nazi?

and of course you forgot that by adopting the label "taliban" and burning schools and throwing acid on school-teachers, the "taliban" and their supporters are a bunch of liars. As are the treacherous supporters like yourself who seek to make the US and the democratic government of Pakistan the issue while giving a pass to those who have been attacking civilized society around the world the past 10 years and butchering tens of thousands of innocent people in the process.
Chowk staff can now ban me again, as it had till now for the crime of pointing out another traitor (pavocavalry) who uses chowk to promote the cause of these animals and to vent his ethnic and anti-Pakistan spite.

You ignored the biggest label of all - the label of "Islam" used by the "taliban" and their treacherous supporters - to cover-up their criminal actions.

Ibrahim,
I think you are giving Pakistan's inept and inarticulate government leaders too much credit for "inventing" a new language to make war palatable. The language they are using is as "foreign" as the inspiration for Taliban and Al Qaeda.

Nice reading. Pakistan military is not so much into words but they have practically blocked any news of collateral damage or pictures of flattened structures. US army has failed to do this in Afghanistan.
