Indeed! I absolutely love the use of the word 'phoenix' in your article. 'Rising from the ashes' I am so fond of that expression in my poetry!
Definitely Team Pakistan rocked the grounds at Lords! & well put Ghazanfar with Imran Khan's 'cornered tigers'. Indeed, the tigers have risen!
The men in green have actually proved themselves against two hardcore teams! The Proteas and the Lankans and Afridi's comeback is heart warming!
All in all ... three cheers!

It was a great win! Afridi played exceptionally well and overall the team played with self-belief and gusto and they're a talented bunch...especially Afridi, Gul and that new 17 year old Ameer--a great prospect for the future.
What we need now is consistency. If Shoaib comes back too--he's still a match-winner--and Muhammad Yusuf we could have a very good side in the making. We must concentrate on test cricket.

Forget the analysis. Lets be happy that we have something to cheer for! For that one night and indeed for a long time to come, it was heartwarming and confidence inducing in our won abilities. We forgot our differences and our problems and celebrated like anything. It was a good day to be a proud Paki :)
Having said that, you wrote a splendid article, Ghazanfar. Great job. :)

The whole aura of victory, of success, of jubilation, of festivity has been inducive. Alhamdolillah :)
I was sure that having seen the live and thrice the recorded version ball to ball, no black and white narration could do justice to the ecstasy it brought, I am glad you proved me wrong :)
Very well written Ghazanfar.

Pakistan's rise from underdogs to champions is an extraordinary display for a team that had to beat Netherlands by a huge margin to even stay in the event during the group stages. However, Pakistanis have peaked at the right time and couldn't have produced a more complete performance for a final. Pakistan fell five runs short two years ago at Johannesburg when they lost to India, but this time there was no mistake.
While this win is not likely to bring international cricket to Pakistan's soil any time soon, it will still provide great encouragement to budding cricket talent in Pakistan to pursue their dreams. It will also be a great morale booster for a nation under siege from the ongoing insurgency in the north west and its devastating effects in the major cities and towns.

Full credit to team Pakistan.
Having watched their games, they deserved to win.
Somebody made an observation that 3 great Pathans gave the nation a tremendous morale boost--Gul, Y Khan & Afridi...(no discredit to the rest of the team).
I really wish Pakistani players will be able to play in IPL. I'm sure I'm speaking on behalf of millions of Indian fans.

Pakistani team fully deserved the title as well as the hero's welcome that they received at home. If any nation needed to be cheered at this time it is Pakistan. Congrats!
