Re: # 24, continuing the discussion of defense mechanism: for a social group to adopt the Mature mechanisms at least two things need to exist within it, (a) ability to listen to alternative discourse, basically openness of communication without fear of persecution for the speaker, and (b)high level of interaction with other social groups. In both these areas, Pakistanis lag behind. Even Pakistani communities living abroad tend to be quite closed and inward looking. Consequently it becomes very difficult to get out of the internally developed phobias.

Re: # 24 Good analysis Shankar particularly regarding the types of defence mechanisms. This article of mine is all about the need for eliminating this immature defense mechanism

Goldfinger,

China has repeatedly kicked our ass. When it comes to China, we Indians use the same immature defense mechanisms.

{{Nobel laureate Ernest Hemingway used to say, "Every damn thing is your own fault, if you're any good."

Do you know what happened to him? He ended up killing himself.}}

Hemingway had Major Depression. Its caused by recurrent shortages of serotonin & nor epinephrine in the brain. It has a biochemical & genetic basis. Other members of his family have succumbed to that illness as well. Suicide is a complication of depression.

He did not kill himself because he looked inward & hated what he saw of himself.

{{Does this offer any lessons to you and to Pakistanis as a nation? Don't we all, as humans, frequently engage in denial for our own mental health and self-preservation?}}

We use defense mechanisms for self preservation. Defense mechanisms are broadly categorized into
1)psychotic
2)neurotic
3)immature
4)mature.

Conspiracy theorists use defense mechanisms like "rationalization" & "denial" are IMMATURE defense mechanisms. Conspiracy theorists like Zaid Hamid & spin doctors like you use "intellectualization"--another IMMATURE defense mechanism.

Its no wonder that you have created an "alternate universe" or "matrix".

Skeptical is absolutely right: ""An open and intellectually honest society should have the moral courage to look into itself also rather than blaming each and everything to grand conspiracies. The enemy may be within.""

WELL SAID! It was Pakistan that primarily created & nurtured these militants. They started off as "freedom fighters" & "strategic assets", then were referred to us "miscreants", now they are "Indian agents"....

GET REAL!!

Re: # 13

nkg...why must you worry about Pakistan...I heard China is interested in talking to you about Arunachal Pradesh...maybe now Bollywood could create a character...(well unfortunately I can't think of a character like Mahmud Ghaznavi who could come even their dreams to the rescue of the Hinjians)...so as someone said somewhere else...abb tera kia hoga kaliya...

Riaz Haq...
Pakistani and Indian defence forces have their own specific needs. Indian need is far bigger than that of Pakistan. Handling Pakistan is minor portion of concern for Indian defence forces.
At least, India do not beg for helicopter gunships from USA to kill it's own people...
Rest of the matter; let it be handled by the experts in that domain....

Re: # 17

LOL!! And what is the ratio to the GDP ??

How much is the amount of military aid?

How much is the figure juggled to exclude the Paki Jernail, mamu and chachu jaan's salaries, perks , band baaja that is pilfered from "civilian" accounts??

This $30 million figure itself is an eye wash.

Pakistan is infact an Islami military state where most of the resources are used by its military either directly or indirectly.

Pakistan total 2009-10 budget of $30 billion is smaller than India's 2009-10 military budget of $40 billion.

Re: # 11
dude....
If you repeat the same stuff, it turns into perversion...
A lot of teens are addicted to porn and that does not make prono creative or entertainer....
If Pakistanis are addicted to this, then, they are more pervert than porn addicted teens....

Mumbai ardoo movies are turning smart, now a days. No more mockery :-)

I have nice solution for Pakistanis...After Vietnam War Hollywood created a character called Rambo ( John Rambo)....

Talibs/Pakis should sponsor to create such a character, who will attack India and destroy India single handedly ( Ghajhnavi-I, Then He will be busy on another mission in Israel and destroy all F15s, Merkeva with Korun in one hand and Pakistani made Nuke Missile in another hand....the next mission will be UK, then France, then USA...)
I am sure, there will more movies on this ( fighting Jihad) than RAMBO or James Bond. That will take out little poison from Pakistani/Musla mind and reduce jihad induced violences accross the globe....
