Gazzali, the renowned Islamic thinker summed up the 18 pains that had been visited on Muslim women as a punishment for Eve's transgression in paradise. The list eloquently shows the position of women in Islam and how the social customs were backed up by Islam. Here Islam goes to the extent of saying that even pregnancy and childbirth are punishments from God. Such is the nature of the all merciful Allah!!!

The 18 punishments are:


Menstruation
Childbirth
Separation from father and mother and marriage to a stranger
Pregnancy
Not having control over her own person
A lesser share in inheritance.
Her liability to be divorced and inability to divorce.
It being lawful for man to have 4 wives but for a woman to have only 1 husband.
The fact that she must stay secluded in the house
The fact that she must keep her head covered inside the house.
The fact that 2 women's testimonies have to be set against the testimony of one man.
The fact that she must not go out of the house unless accompanied by a near relative.
The fact that men take part in Friday and feast day funerals while women do not.
Disqualification for rulership and judgeship.
The fact that merit has 100 components, only one of which is attributable to women while 999 are attributed to men.
The fact that if women are profligate they will be given only half as much torment as the rest of the community at the ressurection day.
The fact that if their husbands die they must observe a waiting period of 4 months and 10 days before they remarry.
The fact that if their husbands divorce them , they must observe a waiting period of 3 months or 3 menstrual periods before remarrying.

To change the men-oriented societies, the Muslim world should accept the flexibility of the Quran and Islamic thoughts......but its not coming at all.....old (islamic) traditions are hard to die.......

GCC heads and other shaikhs in the Gulf have violated Quran and hadeeths by adding more than 4 wives in their wedlock and thus made a mockery of Islam.......but why is Ummah silent on this? but instead for couple of cartoons published in denmark the hell is let loose? Is there no respect for a woman in Islamic world? why is she portrayed as mobile prisnor in Burqa? why is she portrayed as walking trash bags or black ninja? its a shame.....

You vent out your frustration by finding editing mistakes in every article contributed by female authors whom you treat as inferior to males and also because you are trying to use them as a proxy for Saima Shah. I know you think that she is responsible for blocking your "immense” talent.
Get a life and grow up.
Since you have a rather fragile and over inflated ego, I know that you will become desperate to come up with a self proclaimed" witty" answer.
So start working on it. But please do not exert yourself too much. At your age one can damage one’s heart by over loading it with spiteful stuff. I see a little bit of Gibran, some Iqbal, a bit of Pamuk, with a lot of homoeroticism (your reference to Qutab Minar tells a lot about your suppressed sexuality) mixed with some Quranic versus and erotic yerning present in your writing. I assume that you are a die hard male hater.

However, I reiterate that I am only trying to bring about awareness of anti-men violence - which DOES NOT GET ANY PUBLICITY, partially because men are quieter, and partially because women have far better propaganda apparatus.

What I find Abhoring however, is the attempt to show case 'DV against women' as a need to get sympathy for even more draconian anti-male laws, This cycle will only result in more MISUSE and more families broken - something that womens groups are striving to achieve.

Domestic violence, it is violence perpetuated by close relatives within the confines of a family, mostly spouse. From you comments it appears that a significant proportion of male population in Pakistan is being beaten by their wives. If you are one of those men, I would advise you contact a lawyer right away.

Another example of the result of brainwashing : It is amazing how many people think Women are the 'Worst' sufferers in Afghanistan, when it is clear that many many more men are killed routinely there, without a tear shed for them. While whenever a Women is violated, the blood begins to boil. Womens groups have powerful apparatus used for propaganda.

This must be result of years of BRAINWASHING. Much brainwashing is carried out by the media. The reportage of rape, for eg., is so extensive, that the public is lead to believe that rape is so widespread, and that false convictions do not exist!

People are seeing injustice to women, even where it does NOT exist ( like seeing God ) - at the same time becoming blind to MALES being violated ( for eg., DV against Men).

generally, we are an ignorent nation sorry to say, few voices here and there and that is all but on a wider scale, it's just "personal", if it is not bothering me why should I bother making a noise about it or try to intervene.

I have witnessed women getting beaten up in streets and no one bothered to help, instead they all get on thier balconys & watch the "show" with no guilt whatsoever.

when you ask them come help, they escape with a readymade excuse, "konsa hamara masla hay", today them, tomorrow could be your house burning !! socha hay kabhi?
