Yo Sangeeta,

Learn about the meaning of secularism while you are abroad.

It is NOT pandering to Muslim/Christian vote-banks, as they do in India.

Re: # 10
Pharma companies patented million of things.
I don't know why are making a big deal of neem and haldi.
"Ayurveda is from natural extract and so far more receptive to animal body, specialy human body than any industrial chemical"
Have you done any clinical study to back your claims.
Next time you have an infection don't use chemical like anti-biotics use neem. Let see how days you will survive.

Re: # 3
raj71...
You mean to say, science started only in Europe after 16th/17th century? Before that, what indian, chinese people did is not science?

The basics of "science" is
1 identification of problem
2 analyzing the cause of the problem
3 narrrowing down to the best set of the solutions

Human societies following this practice for 1000s of years....

Re: # 5
raj71...
Do you have basic sense of nature?
Whether USA accepts Ayuveda or not, that is their problem, but saying that Ayurveda has no basis of science is hilarious...It evolved for more than 1000s of years through varius experiments. The method of identification of ingredient for formulating a medicine has not changed. Only the equipments and technology changed.

BTW, why pharma companies are eager to patent Neem and Haldi? Just for fun!!!!!

Ayurveda is from natural extract and so far more receptive to animal body, specialy human body than any industrial chemical....

Modern antibiotics created drug resistant strains, which sometimes complicate situation....

Re: # 7
"raj71, there is a world beyond USA"
That must be world of ignorance where you can practice Ayurveda as medicine. Have you even read about Ayurveda.

In modern medicine, ayurveda is nothing but placebo.

raj71, there is a world beyond USA.

While I cannot see ayurveda come up with a recent wonder drug, it does have healing powers beyond what the general public admits, and well, waving it aside as outdated is also kind of nerdy.

I do believe that " spreading good messages" about one's own country ultimately starts with oneself, propagation and absorbing works both ways - excess in any one direction is kind of a disaster. :-)

Re: # 2
Ayurveda had it days before the discovery of modern medicine.
Ayurveda has no scientific basis. You might get sued in US, if you try to pass Ayurveda as medicine.

This article makes no sense at all. The author appears to be in a confused state of mind. Other than "big words" it has nothing.
Can you tell us where is your home and where are you now?

Sangeeta, the correct way to show one's patriotism is not through a barrage of bombastic and meaningless platitudes like "unity in diversity" (which in reality is mere propaganda), but through positive actions like contributing efforts to alleviate poverty, illiteracy, etc.

There is nothing united about the Indian subcontinent -- in fact there is so much selfishness, so much contempt for the rule of law and worst of all so much a desire to take advantage of others for individual profit that the country is likely to stay mired in poverty and backwardness in the foreseeable future.

Sometimes I feel that the only reasons India does not break apart into a bunch of powerless entities is because Indians are just too lazy.

csg...
while absorbing local culture, it is our duty to spread our valuable contribution to humanity, which is not spread properly...
Yoga and Ayurveda are definitely such stuff...
