#314 hamidm2: what is irritating? that i chose not to respond to unprovoked personal insults by strangers on chowk?
#314 Posted by hamidm2 on October 9, 2009 7:17:34 am
tahmed,
.... you are an obnoxious and irritating old man! .... what is wrong with you? .... you are scaring the heck out of me ... is this what i have to look forward to in a few years ? ...... i hope they shoot me before i get to this point ! ........ get a grip on yourself - change your diaper, eat some prunes, do a couple of sudoku puzzles and make sure you take at least a thousand milligrams of ginko biloba every day .....
#313 Posted by tahmed32 on October 8, 2009 3:14:25 pm
SR: in other words, you have no rational response to my question.
#312 Posted by sattar2 on October 8, 2009 3:14:01 pm
tahmed miaN,
I think the problem is not in disagreeing with Gore Vidal … but dismissing, and dissing him due to his old age. It was a low blow and an intellectually shallow way of handling an argument; you did not do very well, I am afraid.

Re: # 310 T32 ["... Did I say something incorrect? ..."]
T2, you are ALWAYS right, in EVERYTHING. You see all, you hear all, you know all... How can anyone here dare say otherwise?
Not only do you not need to read his books to know all about him (and everyhting else), you don't need to read any books.
You, of course, have read The Book and it contains ALL knowledge. Thus, obviously, you are all knowledgable.
Any other book is totally unnecessary. Those that disagree with The Book are obviously wrong, and those that agree with The Book are simply redundand.
I bow before your superior knowledge in all humility.

#309 SR: Did I say something incorrect? Is he not predicting doom for the US in the article? Does one need to read his books before having the right to disagree?

[Re: # 305 by T2 ["... Gore Vidal is ... ready to be ... in a grave, ... everything will look like doom to him...]
T2 you've obviously never read the man. But of course, that won't stop you from 'knowing' everyhing about him.

#307 When paper pushing babus (aka insurance companies) get revenues from the health care that are as little earned as the revenues of oil-rich sheikhs, and when they use part of these revenues to prevent repeated attempts at reform over a period of decades, then it is fraud with a capital F.

But Dost Ji, everyone is cared for in the US, and Healthcare is Healthcare, it is neither an issue of human rights nor is it a privilege. Providing it is a zero-sum game (and not a charitable deed) in which someone foots the bill. The debate here is how to fight fraud and abuse within the existing framework to make the healthcare function more efficiently.

We are a modest people. We don't claim to be best in anything except, maybe, hockey. And once your recognize basic healthcare as a human right and not a privilege, we won't even claim to have a better healthcare system.

Given that Gore Vidal is a vegetable getting ready to be planted in a grave, it is obvious that everything will look like doom to him.
PS: Cant even get his first name and last name right - he has them backwards. Maybe cousin Al Gore could help unconfuse this man.

Gore Vidal the sexual liberator of the USA. Would have had his neck chopped in any number of Islami countries for being a practicing bi-sexual. His views on Islam are not that flattering either.

"...the American experiment has been "a failure". It was all for nothing. Soon the country will be ranked "somewhere between Brazil and Argentina, where it belongs." The Empire will collapse militarily in Afghanistan; the nation will collapse internally when Obama is broken "by the madhouse" and the Chinese call in the country's debts. A ruined United States will then be "the Yellow Man's Burden", ..."
