#15 "The medicine is worse than the disease."
you must be joking. you would rather see terrorism continued unchecked than suffer these security checks.

Life in Islamabad is becoming cumbersome. Moving around town is a pain as 'security checks' and traffic road blocks are literally everywhere. You cannot get anywhere from anywhere else without negotiating a security road block. Moronic law enforcement personnel go through the motions of 'checking' everyone with fixed expressions of boredom on their stoned faces. The terrorists were not able to dampen our spirits for a long time but this new security crap is beginning to get real old, real fast. The medicine is worse than the disease.
The latest security toll taken on society is the closure of all schools and colleges ... until an unknown future date, which could be as early as tomorrow or as late as kingdom come... No one seems to know what's going on.
Supposedly, 'security arrangements' need to be beefed up before they can re-open. But what security arrangements can you put in place? None... It's all a big show... good for nothing. All security here seems to be 'scare-crow' security. They hope that by pretending to be extra vigilent they can deter some militant actions. Fortunately the militants are just as stupid and incompetent as is the government, that is why even worse damage doesn't occur. If I was Osama bin Laden (or whoever is the big bad boss now a days) I could have created far worse havoc, given how utterly inept the 'security' apparatus really is...
I was in Lahore last week and it isn't much better there either. All cities have become open air prisons. If you even so much as smile, they want to count your teeth. It is disgusting and all to no avail.
I am actually looking forward to my field visit to the NWFP where I'll be studying health facilities in Swat, Buner, Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Peshawar and Charsada districts. The 'in-security' situation in those areas, as best I can gather, is no worse than anywhere else in the country, but at least, the air will be less polluted.
It may all sound scary from a distance, but in reality it is just inconvenient. As for something really scary, let me tell you what that is, because I saw it last night. We had a dozen little witches, zombies, ghosts and gobblins running around the house making lots and lots of noise last night. I almost thought I was going to die.

It seems like all the RAW agents are having a field day...what with their having committed monumental mayhem in Peshawar the other day, while their cheer-leaders are gloating here to kingdom come...
Oh yes!! the pure-as-snow Pakis are incapable of doing such a thing, so what if they slaughtered 3 million of their own in E.Pakistan just because they were a shade darker?!
...they seem not to know that those who live in glass houses must not pelt stones at others...
Thank God you guys seem to have finally realized this! But it is unfortunate that so many innocents had to die over the last three decades in India and now in Pakistan for you to realize this simple fact.

Pakistan as envisioned by Jinnah is dead.
The day Mushraff joined GWOT was the beginning of the end.
I still remember Mushraff saying that he joined GWOT to save the Kashmir cause. That was a high risk low return move. While trying to save Kashmir, he lost Pakistan.
Before when civil administation used to fail military used to step in. That option will not work any more. Most institutions have colapsed. US will not let Taliban take over pakistan, Taliban will not let any adminstration to function. Pakistan is starting to look more and more like Afganistan.

Madani sb
All three should come together and become friends and embrace each other forgive and forget.
Had such spirits existed, or even take place now, then Pakistan will become a Muslim's nation for real.

"Lobbying is very important business and india was taken out of infmous troublesome Trinity Af-Pak-india".
Please do not forget that Pakistan has all the time considered Afghanistan its backyard and even today does not want India's presence anywhere in that country. In 2001 when Musharraf turned his tail between his legs and lay prostrate before Bush when the Americans threatened to bomb Pakistan into stone age if it refused to join the American war against Al Qaeda and Taliban , he readily agreed to betray the Taliban and join the American led coalition, but his only condition to cooperate was that India should be kept out of the arrangement.
So why the fuss if India has been left out of the Af-Pak-India combo?
