Tariq saab,
Please calm yourself. I know situation is quite tough. For the time being I suggest you to concentrate on your family. Give time to them and have fun with them. For couple of week, stop watching TV. This will help bring BP down.
Now coming to the situation in Pakistan, once there was a german writer called Clausewhitz. He said that every act to be performed needs a minimum time to complete. So, in Pakistan's case the gestation period of these Jihadis started when General Zia and his bast-ards offered Pakistan's Uterus as place to breed Jihadis to all the world, and we stood by it. Now they have been delivered. Now to take this virus out of the system, you also need the same time frame. It took 20 years to reach here, and it will need at least that much time, and the first step to cleanse it would be to accept that it is our war and our fault that we are screwed. To blame US for them is wrong. They paid in US$. when they were fukking us. To say that they should take care of the bastard is wrong because this was not marriage. It was adultery and to make sure that no baby is born was the responsibility of the prostitute here (Army and Pakistani Establishment).
And in your article the concept of state's writ is all screwed up. A state is an entity within whose geographical boundary it has the "monopoly of violence" i.e. no one else has this right. If you go against this monopoly then you are challenging the writ....
Khair.. take good care of yourself....
cheers...

This is news to me. Which Pakistan are we talking about?

I don't want play the blame game, but only hope the delicacy of the situation be grasped, we are not not fighting just for our existence, but also for stability of the whole region, and the peace of the free world, and thus the whole world should give the people of Pakistan moral support, the establishment in Pakistan is paying very dearly for believing in the concept of a democratic, tolerant, and free society.

Re: # 8 an interesting way of looking at things. I must admit, you are the first to provide this first hand description below (in #8). Yes, everyone is worhty of this term - those who encouraged it, those who perpetrate it, those who provided the wherewithall - everyone is culpable. Dont you think

Re: # 5
I live with high intensity rdx explosions breaking my windows, the sound of gunfire keeping me awake, and my children telling me about the daily body count, and you ask me not to write foul articles, have some heart, and don't be so insensitive. My very life which I worked so hard for, is falling apart because some lunatics think that the only way to salvation is through rivers of blood of innocent civilians, I am only expressing my outrage which I share with most educated Pakistanis. I think you have no idea what we are going through.

Muhammad Tariq
In your para titled "Weakness", you wrote:
"Religion became the first source of discord,"
This is not true. Language became the first source of discord during Jinnah's life. When Jinnah announced that Urdu will be the only national language in Dacca, the crowd peotested. There was lathi-charge and Bengali leader of Muslim League, A.K.Fazlul Haq ended up with a broken arm. You could argue that East Pakistan seceded and that chapter has come to an end. But the ruling clique that constituted of British army officers, bureaucrats and Zamindars morphed into the present ruling elite and accomodated the maulvis while repressed all other voices raising issues for the public at large and minority nations. Bengalis were a majority but these rulers denied their democratic rights. This was the state governance and it will continue until democratic process churns out real representation at the top. Respect. Peace.
