Re: # 6& & 7
I agree 100%. These people are animals and there can be no peace as long as they are not uprooted completely. Taliban philosophy is an irrational one.

#6 rhusain: exactly right. those who call for "deals" with the taliban are traitors - since no one can be so stupid as to not see what the taliban are all about.

Peace talks and negotiations is a viable tool when the parties involved are rational entities. Peace talk, in my opinion, will NEVER be a winning move with Taliban because their leadership is irrational, their goals are irrational and their followers are irrational. Unless Taliban and their sympathizers find their goals unachievable and lose support among general public, they will continue to fight for the reward hereafter..I am quite convinced that majority of the leaders are not interested in the "hereafter reward" and prefer the power in this life, but their follower base is definitely fueled by the promise of heaven.

I agree with your comments and now so much more needs to be done for this problem.

brilliant analysis.
pity the naieve , opportunistic , chacha fauji that creates such characters to get dirty US and saudi dollars and then gooes on to destroy them to get US dollars.
neither taliban nor pakistan army victory is inevitable.this is going to be a long drawn war

I am not suggesting peace talks at this stage, that would be outright stupid, negotiations is beneficial once the immediate goals have been achieved. Pakistan army has to win the battle first, but subsequently it has to negotiate with the local population (which would include the local Talibans also) to ensure continued cessation of violence.

Taji io appreciate this suggestion but the issue is that "peace talks" with taliban has historically provent o mere enhance the conducive environment in which they breed. Since this philosophy is completely irrational, it may be better to up root them in de nazification style.
i know the argument that military action may enhance the conducive enviromwent also but peace talks are even more dangerous.
