Re Afrasiyab
Please can we refrain from making personal comments? If you do not like someone`s writing, then please make constructive criticism or express your opinion about the work NOT about the author. It is not very constructive and puts other readers and possible contributors off.
Thank you.

Re Shahbano and the Whirling Dervish.

Talk about creative criticism! I think I may give up writing pomes...:-(. Of course, that is a remote possibility so don`t get too happy!

To the Dervish: sorry to have endangered your psychological health. It was not my intention at all. I must say, though, that it was a clever way to get out of revealing your identity :)

PS Sorry, Saima. This is the last email I am going to post that is not related to the poem.

Dervish: Since you have your answer, will you tell me who you are? or at least tell me if I knew you? Hey, you write good poetry, why not ``come out`` in the chowk?

for the Dervish: Do you think its fair to ask someone who they are if you are identified only by your pseudonym?

Re: Whirling Dervish, ``... Monsieur Chaudry, je n`ai pas savoir que tu parle le francais aussi. J`espere voir plus poems en francais ou anglais``.

Oui, mon amie Whirling Dervish. Je parle beaucoup de langues. Ma mere est une Francaise-Canadienne de Quebec. Ma pere est courent de Kashmere. Pas seulement je parle francais et anglais, mais je parle aussi Swahili comment de ``ebonics``. Viva Le Quebec! Viva Le Kashmere!

Re: Moe Chaudry
Thanks for the compliment on imagery. No, I can`t/don`t, `parlez vous francaise` and may never will! I did, however, manage to understand your gentle and sweet poem thanks to the transliteration and felt I owed you a reply:

The Spirit of Life

Silent sorrows scream
from the porthole of the mind
the world offers platitudes
to set me free
They tell me to compromise
to turn the other cheek to give up
to stop somehow somewhere
for like a cornered rat
there is no space for escape
They tell me I cannot
change
what I did not make
that no-one has ever done it
that I have to believe what they call Reality
they say I have a long way to go
and there is hope for my `sanity`
they say rebellion is always false
that life is a breath on the winds of
despair;
a breath one has to take
shudderingly
and smile;
while the lie
twists in the
soul

Bonjour Monsieur Dervish of Swirling Heights, here is an attempt at transliteration :)-

Youth

Youth is like Heaven!
As the winner of a duel ...
It always has a triumphant air
And the innocence of a child.

Have you been happy?
Is sky emanating warmth from Heaven?
Heavenly radiant lights at pearly gates
Are showing me but no sorrow.

Why must time fly ...
So much so that memories can`t die?
Yet I`ve understood my fate ...
By shedding tears in the night
and putting my troubles to sleep.

Saima, from one budding poet to another: Bravo! What an excellent use of imagery, such as ``lump of cloth`` and ``fingers glide``
o`er that ``little imperfection``. That`s what separates a writer from a poet ... short imageries ... leaving it to the reader to interpret or transliterate the meaning to their own lives or situations.
This one is for you ...
