FREINDS,
Somehow as an INDIAN who is sitting here in his room seeing all the replies that have been sent by the PAKISTANI readers one gets the feeling that pakistan needs to follow suit to anything india does and blame the entire arms race on india.
A couple of letters in fact have sought to create the impression that however strong india may be militarily it has a poor economy and will not be able to sustain the arms race.
Let me bring it to the notice of my pakistani freinds that 51% literacy rate in a country of 900 million people is a significant number added to which is an immensely skilled urban india labour population..We are among the ten most ``stable``economies in the world and growing stronger everyday.Yes i agre that our defense forces spend a lot but somehow atleast in india and as an indian i can justify very safely that it is intended more at the west and not pakistan centric as it seems from all the replies that i havegone through. Not wanting to sound very harsh i must say that the pakistani economy does not compare wuth ours and it is a fact that we have more to achieve by contributing than by needlessly trying to outdo one another
