As usual, MOST of you, are being pretty defensive, about the whole idea of , ``Oh how could he put pakistan down`` and come across, being mounted on your ``horses``, as if there is absolutely nothing wrong with the land of the pure, instead there is something wrong with Ahmad`s head...:). It has yet once more changed into a personal attack diatribe...instead of droping your heads in shame on the ``mess`` we call home you pick on him, or his job, or his social life, etc...:)

Only thing I found to be a bit harsh on myself was Ahsan`s point that there are no opportunities for the disabled. Well, there are opportunities for each and everyone in Pakistan not only for the disabled, and that is the opportunity to come to the United States, Middle East, England, France, Japan etc etc etc.

It is surprising that you call Ahmed an AHSAN FRAMOSH. I have read your posts on this forum and it is clear you have turned your back on India despite having grown up there. Didnt you ever say, good or bad, this is my own, my native land and it is for me to make it better? AA was only born in Pakistan, you grew up and were educated in India. You owed it a little more than your hatred. You owed it your compassion. You are an AHSAN FRAMOSH.

The mistake is made in the article of taking some of the bad characteristics found in a people, and then assuming that the people have no other behavior except that mentioned.

For example, behind the clannishness observed by the writer, there is often a warmth and closeness of family ties. If one is into comparisons, one may note that that commodity often appears to be missing in America.

As a person exposed to two cultures, the author and readers of the article should take the opportunity to absorb the best of both, instead of reviling one or the other.

Mr Solitude, You and Ahmad did more or less the same thing. I am sorry to say that you disappointed me as much as Ahmad did. Why are you being so judgemental. Religion and beliefs should be a personal issue and one should not try to impose them on others. If my sister or mother wants to go out with anybody it should not be anybody`s business. Similarly, if I have a girlfriend why should it bother anybody. Even if it is a ``sin``, I`ll answer to my god and nobody should worry about it. I think all this hate arises when we start judging people and comparing our beliefs with their`s.

The feeling is mutual dear. I think the Pakistanis don?t care about you either. I am surprised that after making your point about Pakistan there are some Pakistani who still want to socialize with you even just to give you a dose of patriotism.

Yes we do. Faith is what keeps you from sleeping with your mother. I don?t think you can remove faith so easily from your life. You did not acquire this faith because you never belonged to a country. I love America and I love pakistan. One of the many faiths is the ?love of a country? - wanting to build and protect it, not because it gives us something but just because it is our country. Your mother is now old and is not as much use to you as she was when you were a baby and she may or may not be as bright as you are or have as much social skills as you do or as educated as you are or she may still talk longingly about her country but you may still want to love her. Love does not have prerequisites - yes it is faith. Now don?t get offended - my country is also sacred to me.

The more important thing though is the changing face of the world allows people to pursue happiness in different parts of the world and the boundaries of nation are not as sacred as they were. The faith is growing weaker. You tell me more about the future generations. I remember a girl whose parents took her to her home country somewhere in Latin America - when she came back she said ?it was terrible man - no public rest rooms?.
