A touching article. I lost my father some six years back. I agree with you, you don`t realize the loss unless you lose something important, be it your parents, brothers or sisters, friends, or even your own health.

I read this article an hour ago and still had the urge to write my comments before I shut Internet Explorer 4.?.

It was a beautiful narrative. And reminded me of many childhood memories that I had with my ancestor`s home. I really liked the way the author has expressed the minute details of his house.

Though it brings sadness at the end but still the sadness did not stay very long after reading the fact that

``And I was thankful that I had been of some use to my father, and that I had now realised this.``

I am not sure whether if it was only ``UN PLEASENT FACET OF MYSELF`` or domineering role of father in the choices of his son ,so prevalent in that culture or just teen rebellion(only it should not be long term,like yours)ONE thing is sure teens dislike there father(parents)temporarily during that period neither because they see unpleasent facet of themselves,nor that they lack freedom to choose career or wife but it is a normal part of growing everywhere,whether or not they are ``free``! I can say because i did spend my teen years in Calcutta & now have Teen sons in College & my father died in the midst of my turbulent years both personally as well as politically in Calcutta.

P.S. by teens i mean state of mind from 13 to ...?Some people choose to stay there as long as possible.
