I think it is written beaufifully!

In a way it is about the universe and us.

The same as when a child is born, grows up,has children then dies... becomes a part of everything it had interacted with... and then maybe joins the ocean...God!

Please dont think i am a non believer....I am a believer and this is what i think

Erum, i am glad u bothered to read it... but u ask...y bother?

did u not see a difference of attitude to life while a torrent and a river?

did u not see that the destiny of each drop that was so lovinging teased out

of the glacier was to learn, to grow deep and heavy with love, wisdom and

appreciation of God`s gifts before falling into the embrace of Forever?

think about it!...:)

WHY BOTHER?

Granted as individuals we are but specks of sand on the shores of ocean of life.

But in the finer scheme of things we do matter.

Consciously or unconsciously we progress to a higher level. We all do.

Perhaps that is what elevates us from animals.

The individual journey from dust to dust inches forward and lightens up the passage of enlightenment. For you, me and others that will surely follow.

i registered so to complement you on your story but if people read it they will feel like me that if after all that struggle and sacrifice if we all are going to end up in the same ocean why bother

love erum

Nice job, Zeejah. I read this to be an allegory on life. Reminds me of a short poem I saw in a calendar (complete with a picture of a small river rushing down a wooded area) when I was a child which has stuck in my head, as follows:

Why hurry, little river?

Why hurry to the sea?

There is nothing there to do

but to sink into the blue

And all forgotten be!

I have always wondered who the poet was. Your piece is on a grander scale, as befits the fact that there is only this one life we humans will ever experience on earth.

Or, the River of Life?

Ghista hai jabeeN khak maiN Dariya méré aagé

Enjoyed it. I have experienced both life, and the river.

Zeenat:

Enjoyed the metaphorical and allegorical journey.

Reminded me of a quote I read in today`s dawn. In a column Lahori writes, ``THE Karachi Theosophist is the journal of the Karachi Theosophical Society..... the May-June issue of the journal gives the following ...quotations.``

``I discovered the secret of the sea in meditation upon the dewdrop.`` - Khalil Gibran.

love,

t

PS: Pls re-write that article on Aslam Khattak with emphasis added on ``Now or Never`` and Chaudhary Rehmat Ali.
