Dear Shandana Minhas:
Your reply was not a riled one at all.In fact it was pretty genial.
1)Since the /Name ``problem`` has been cleared except that you want me to separate the personna of the writer from the subject of the story/essay.Now this may hold true in your case whose identity is more or less known,I still feel that I have nothing personal for/against anyone here.Similarly I do not take anything personally myself. This is the greatest inter-net boon.It is the personality of the writer reflected in his/her story/essay that always really comes under review. The two are sympatric.
(Another time perhaps I could discuss with you the political/agenda aspect of any `fiction`).
2)I agree with you that maybe I could be more acceptable and effective if I glow like a cinder rather than burst into flames.I promise I`ll try.
3)A writer from anywhere never strays from the right path.Such is the peril of this vocation.Only those who are the crazed ones who choose to go into these alleys where scorn and abuse are the fringe benefits---but without these a writer is not doing the right thing. In Pakistan, where the parameters of progress are quite `name-brand` such `no-frills` endeavours are nothing short of frivolous........except to the practitioners.
4)I rather quite `enjoyed` that you called me a liar(``Chul jhoota kaheen kaa--;-)).Are you still not convinced that I am a novice writer? If my assurance means something then please understand thet I have not written anything for public consumption except for CHOWK since last year. Then again how can replies/posts be called /writing anyway.I did write some songs(english) during my adolescent years & some company wanted to get them musically published but I could not negotiate the royalties--being bit more naive then than now.All were written for the one who is now the resident-godess and she has been paying the best dividends-----so really I`m not so naive after all!!!!!.
4)You really said too much when you talked about my writing skills.I would have just smiled away at that except that if you,an english language teacher,is saying so then I must be really upto something. Thanks a lot anyway.I`ll definitely try to channel this rage in a better direction.May Allah give me the ability.
I hope I have covered most of the points.I found this board,Your board, more appropriate and I hope you will concur with this.Personally,I do NOT want to turn it into a ``Discussion`` board and a one-to-one talk is fine if you want.I do not intend to reply to anyone else here. They,if they choose to do so,do not need my blessing.
PS:Please by all means call me frangi-cushion.Anything is fair----etc etc.

Great job once again. Somehow you succeed in
getting getting under the skin of readers. I hope that someday ``Ayesha`` is able to outrun all
forces of cuelty in Pakistan AND win a gold
medal.

Dear slink,
A joy as always. Very rich.
I concur with t, loved the whole spice angle.... our land has been `spice centrale` for ages... if it wasn`t for spices, Columbus wouldn`t have `discovered` the Americas and Vasco wouldn`t have shown up at Ajuna beach. Makes me think of Midnight`s Children & God of Small Things.
One comment about the whole `chasing` thing. Would love to find out what Ayesha `thinks` of being chased around. What happens when she does get caught? Is there an element of real fear in the chase?
Last year, 5 miles from where I live... two kids... Eric Harris & Dylan Klebold shot up their library & cafeteria. All said & done 15 kids & one adult died. The reason for this incredulously violent reaction? They were `bullied` all their lives!

RE: AKBAR Reply# 3
I think Chowk is implying the phrase ``visit here at The Other Side`` in its popular sense.

Shandana, this has to be one of your best works, which I have read on Chowk. You seemed to have captured a slice of a society, which was really a joy to read.
Keep up the good work....!
Ciao!

Very creative! Almost experimentally creative.
Guava and garlic. Quite a smell trip.
Ayesha cannot run from her destiny. Or may be she can. There is always hope.
This is worth more than two. Explanation emailed separately.
