RE: Celebrity

So you are interested in the personal life of celebrities - evidenced by your curiosity about Italian girlfriends - but do not want to use print journalism as a resource? How rude!

RE: The Sixth Sense: The Joy of Cooking/Sex

Gives new meaning to the mahavra: seenay pay daal galnaa...

maTha: I hate nothing more than watching programs about celebrity lives and reading stories and articles about celebrity lives. I have one of my own that keeps me busy.

Cooking and sex are one in the same for me. Taste, touch, smell, feel and sight are equally important in both as far as I`m concerned.

RR: I missed some of your response before but I edited out a piece of the OJ drinkers on the side. I made quips about them that were harsher than yours. I thought I was nitpicking on a situation but I guess they were just as obviously milling around and not really doing anything constructive or even what looked like fun, to you too. Good to know that I`m not heartless.

RE: hint of hardness into softness

Reminds one that sex can be culinary and cooking erotic.

RE: Rumors

Mohsin Hamid himself spread the rumor through his article International Relations in the `Lives` section of The New York Times Magazine, August 6, 2000. You have been slacking, City Girl!

I personally believe the rumor as one of my Italian friends claims to have met Mohsin Hamid at the Italian girl friend`s place in Manhattan (or is it ``their``), who happens to be a close friend of hers (the elite society small world syndrome).

Hey now city girl

On the album. It is fantastic. Aptly called `adventures in electro acoustic hypercussion`. For that matter, pick up any record on teh AXIOM label (Bill Laswell`s ie) and it is a pretty good musical tripp.
The tabla is here to dominate, out of the shadows of its `accompanying instrument` status. Tabla bols with their 16 beat rhythm cycles will stay with us forever no matter how music genres in general morph and evolve. Truly the only INSTRUMENT that can `keep up` in this age of electroniscists. Anyway, electroniscists or not, I bet Amir Khusrau would still just smile and say ``maine kaha thaa na, TAB bhi boLA``

A little disturbed, though, since I was at the said release party and was, as ususal, dancing or rather putting on a show for this `invisible audience` (the kind Milan Kundera talks about). The dance is meant for audiences like yourself (sit in a corner, stare and sip on OJ types), but yet I failed to get a `review` from you. ;-)

`till next time

regards

Dear All:

Thank you.

Harpreet: I think i will take a rain check on that one :-) (but don`t hold your breath)

Satyavadi: Tell me about it. I hate coming here, waiting with baited breath to see is anyone has responded. Kind of nerve wracking if you ask me. Its been nice to see positive responses. This is a departure from my normal style of writing and its got more of my persona in there ( good observation mr. dust).

Scout &Lubna: I wanted the reader to really feel the beat and the mood there. I wrote this as I sat there (quite an oddity, I promise), and I let the words take on the rhythm...or I tried to. Glad it translated for you.

So, I suppose I will send in the other stuff I have. :-)

Writer made (it may be intentional or otherwise) it a point to entangle her own persona in every observation that she made in every scene she ventured to describe ( just a mere superficial account of those ``Scenes``????)...but then i agree as writer put it ``...These are my chronicles. The way I live it, the way I see it..``

all in all, this piece was quite an interesting read....

hope to c this chronicling going in future...

Hey nice article. It has an almost tangible feel to it. I liked this part,

``There is something about the beat of the tabla that just grabs one from the inside out. The low beat of it, the rhythm and the way it snakes around the sound, the sensuous thumping, the

mood manipulations that are possible with it, really intrigue me when I stop to think and not just feel the beat. Try it out.``

Keep writing about the City. It`s an endless conversation piece.

City Girl:

Finally made my way to your piece and have to say it was worth the mouse-click. You`ve written this very well - like your style. Am looking forward to reading more from your chronicles.

[The music leaves my body and becomes an independent soul as if I`m dreaming and it hovers above me. It returns with heart thumping reassurance and I pray that the next change over doesn`t leave me as bereft and empty as the last. When the floor, the chairs and my bones don`t resonate with the beat I feel the aftershocks, the tremors left over. My body tenses waiting for the beat, my pulse to begin again, a slow wave, cresting and crescendoing, one in another.]

--I could ``feel`` the music as I read this. You`ve delivered the ``vibes`` very well. Loved this.

Hey City Girl.. How you Doin.

Partying Desi Chics. Now thats something a bit odd but encouraging to see. I haven`t been in Desi parties yet, but what the hey... where`re they at. Long Island Area... I lived in Queens for a while but not much there except Guyannese/South Indian (Very swarthy) girls... scary... Are there any bouncing places in Chicago or NYC where nice looking Desi girls come around. If anyone can post it, it`ll be awesome. I`m in Michigan, mostly Arab/Lebanese chics here, gorgeouse beauties mostly into digging Arab or American counterparts.

No intention to buffup anyone here but after being with many girls the world has to offer, I think Pak chics, if they drop hard to get attitude(Nakhra Baazi), are the godesses.

American chics are o`right but they bounce around alot. Personally, Pakistani girls are fav.

On a vacation back to PK, I encountered several rude uplandish chics. One day in Jinnah Super Market in Islamabad, a chic drove past me splashing all the rain water over my nice Gucci outfit, now that pissed me off.

That giggle thing one dude mentioned earlier... That`s just plain nuts. I`ve had several giggle encounters which I now think were rather cute. Atleast I wasn`t scolded like some of my buddies. EEk that ``SHUTTTTT UP`` or

``SHODA KAHIN KA`` from a nice looking chic can ruin your day.

Paisley is a nice relaxing place. A change from the boom boom house parties like they have in Centro Fly, Twilo etc. I think the artwork/furniture and size gives it, its chill feel. Although its predominately a desi hangout, many non-desis frequent as well.

In general, mixed parties are the most fun. In desi parties people get too hung up on their perceptions of desiness of the dancing, the desi guys staring, and the desi girls acting cool or whatever. I have Filipino and Korean co-workers who sometimes go to Korean/Filipino parties and they say that in general they s uck too.

All in all, NYC has a great party scene. Every so often theres a new place and the music is just so varied and hypnotic. Theres an abundance of eye-candy, mind-candy, what you want-candy. A truly debaucherous, decadent, hedonistic city for those who have a sense of adventure :)

Peace and pArtay!
