Re: tahmed#71; scout, #74; hamidm, #77

I`m in complete agreement with scout and tahmed321, and vehemently disagree with hamidm re mocking religion and God.

Belief in God is too deep seated in human psyche. It is the foundation on which, for a vast majority of people, their entire emotional being rests. To mock it and shake it, for me at least, is cardinal sin.

One would not mock a person`s race in an open forum such as Chowk. This is, if nothing else, sheer out of respect, and not to hurt one`s feelings.

Why, then, one would choose to mock another`s deep seated and scared beliefs? Not a wise one, indeed.

One last one, promise.

Since there is no place of individual judgement and understanding in a perfectly religious society(apparently) reason and rationality would be controlled substances. Their production would be nationalized and centralized (global tenders not permitted). Citizens would be supplied through pipes to every home like electricty and water with metering. The use of reason and rationality would be heavily regulated. Theft would be strongly punished. In times of shortage or war, supply would be subject to outages ...

So the music of today is liberty and justice rather than Kafir and Hypocrite.

But the Indians are rewarded for demolishing Babri Mosque with millions of Muslim minorities and later bloodshed of them.......and Afghans are threatened for demolishing Buddha statue with no minority and no bloodshed.

Israel is rewarded for Sabra and Shatila massacre and attack on US and UN forces in Lebanon (To the point of not re electing Batrous Ghali for ordering and releasing the report)...... While Libya and Iraq are threatened and bombed.

UN resolutions are for East Timur, Afghanistan and Iraq...... and not for India and Israel.

Let me dance... Tut...Turu...Turu liberty justice.

hamidm:

I expect no less from ppl. like urself.

How conveniently u have equated the well deserved fate of the jews at khandaq to the inquisition.

I would really like to believe that this is simply due to a lack of study of history and having the incorrect set of facts, unfortunately having read ur previous postings i tend to think otherwise.

This is simply the filth in ur mind accumulated over some time.

My friend the jews at khandaq were guilty of treachery at a time of war. Their case was decided by Saad Bin Maaz (who had ties with these jews) in accordance with the torah.

The last time i read abt the inquisition i found nothing as such.

Maybe u and ur like have yet again rewritten history to suit ur aims.

Abt the ahmadies again u twist the facts to fit the conclusion u would like.

During the anti ahmadi movement all i repeat all sects of the muslims were united in declaring them non-muslims. This is not the case with the shite muslims.

I hope u will not stoop to blatant lies just to make a point.

Furthermore ur study of the quran seems rather poor and limited so i would suggest u read the following:

For a correct view on Islamic History

1. The Spirit of Islam Ameer Ali

2. Tareek e Tabari Tabari

3. Tareekh ul Khulafa Sayuti

For understanding the quran

1. Towards Understanding the Quran Maudoodi

2. In the Shade of the Quran Syed Qutub

Hopefully these will clear ur confusion

(But only if u want to ie)

May Allah Shower His blessings on the believers

Adnan

``what the mullahs say is the opposite of the Quran``

........ there are at least twenty five refrences in the koran which clearly state the fate of the hypocrite and hundreds which damn the kafir to hellfire .... so are you saying that all these have been misinterpreted by the mullahs ? ........ i am sure that the hypocrites and kafirs and ahmedis and bahais will be delighted.

I am sure you see the irony in your statement about tolerance and regard for other people`s ``feelings``. As much as we would like it to be otherwise - there is no allowance for such niceties in the great religions. History is replete with examples of ``religious tolerance`` from the inquisition to the execution of jews at khandaq to the pogrom of the ahmedis and now shias. So let us call a spade a spade - we have to admit the flaws before they can be fixed.

........ i can`t believe i went a whole undotted paragraph ........ i told you - religion is bad for you

hamidm #77 I guess nothing is sacred and beyond reproach, as you explain at length. The only thing you take seriously appears to be yourself and your posts. This is the second time you have demonstrated this by loosing your cool when I have criticized your oh-so-cool posts.

I provided you two reasons for my request: you reject what I said in (a) and ignore what I said in (b). Fine. The first was an appeal for some decency, i.e. to your sense of consideration for other people`s feelings. You chose to misinterpret what I said and started explaining why God can take it (I am sure he can, but I was appealing for some consideration for other posters, not God). (b) was a request not to start confusing an ongoing discussion with your attempts at being funny by presenting Quranic verses as if they were at par with the ridiculous claims made by the mullahs, when the entire point of my earlier post was that what the mullahs say is the opposite of the Quran (I guess you dont believe that either - this is not the only thing you have in common with the mullahs whom your sophisticated self despises).

Anyways, the hell with it and you can go on posting your monotonous dotted posts and the mullahs can go on pretending they speak for Islam. Dont let me stop you geniuses.

concerned #79 ``i think it is very inappropriate to quote from the quran/gita/bible/whatever in a nonjoking or noncynical manner as lot of you do.``

Who is the ``lot of you``? Except for a few individuals on chowk, most people stay away from throwing dirt on each other`s religion. In fact in previous posts on the chowk, I have more than once called for treating all religions with the same respect. But I guess you dont let facts like this come in your way when making accusations.

``i say this since (a) out of considertation for those of us who do NOT take it seriously...

;O)``

I suppose this is your miserable attempt to demonstrate humor (with the weird smiley added in case someone misses the subtlety). I have seen funerals that are more funny.

A beautiful poem. It would have even more meaning if I could be told how to get my hands on the urdu version. Would anyone know where to find it?

``I think it is very inappropriate to quote from the Quran in a joking or cynical manner as you have done. I say this since (a) out of consideration for those of us who take it seriously``

..........out of consideration ! ..... why ? .... that is the problem with religion and the silly notion that it is sacred, above reproach and should not be made fun of ..... we can make fun of ``real people`` like democrats and republicans, jefferson and clinton, gays and eunuchs, short people and ugly people, freud and kant, shakespeare and iqbal, keith richards and einstein, ............. but heaven forbid if we say anything that might be construed to be ``derogatory`` against real or imagined characters such as gabriel, moses, jesus, muhammad, jonah or the tooth-fairy and joe pesci ......

.... the notion that we should tippy-toe around religion and go along with what the popes, ayatollas and pundits tell us is extremely dangerous - it leads to tyranny ........``Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell.`` ....this kind of kaka aimed at folks who did not agree with the son of god and mary led to death and misery for many.....and according to the author`s last masterpiece, our book, the same fate awaits those who do not agree with everything the last prophet had to say ........ any way you read the scriptures, you cannot abrogate the many verses that promise hell and damnation for the hypocrites and kafirs ..... maybe ylh can

........``Whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven him neither in this world nor in the world to come.`` ....... i think i will take my chances .... i really find it hard to believe that god, who is more powerful than bill gates, would be concerned with what i say about him or his son or his prophets and their farm animals .......

....... i do agree that it is futile picking on god for all the misery we see around us because as simone de beauvior said: ``I cannot be angry at God, in whom I do not believe`` ........ actually, i prefer what george carlin said : ``I would never want to be a member of a group whose symbol was a guy nailed to two pieces of wood``
