The Mullah had to go a long way before he could successfully hijack God. Scholars have pointed out the trials and travails of the mullah in various forms of literature over the past centuries. From being ignored as an ignorant imbecile unworthy of any recognition whatsoever to one being conspicuously ridiculed, the mullah can finally stand up and not be ashamed of his many shortcomings in life while at the same time is now capable of retaliating with force against those who may choose to point out the shortcomings.

JR #95 You write:

``You are peeved because Hamidm has thrown open the doors to reveal the utter hypocracy of organized religion, Islam included!``

There is no concept of an organized religion in Islam - the Quran stresses that it is something between the individual and God and it is the individual`s responsibility to distinguish between right and wrong and to act accordingly. And actions and intents behind those actions (the latter being known only to the individual and to God) are what is important in Islam. It is the mullahs who seek to form a priesthood and an organized religion and try to mix Church and State when there is no Church to begin with in Islam. It is against this hypocrisy that I protest. As for hamidm, he (like you and most other Pakistanis) confuses Islam with Maudoodism - the latter is for organized religion and power to the priests, the former placed responsibility on the individual and is not concerned with how individual organize themselves in society as long as it is done in a fair and just manner.

aikrinnd #98 ``the mullah can finally stand up and not be ashamed of his many shortcomings in life while at the same time is now capable of retaliating with force against those who may choose to point out the shortcomings. ``

Physical force is the weapon of the pharaohs and the followers of the devil. The mullahs in Pakistan kill people while they worship, they roam around the countryside like bandits, with guns and intimidate people. The muslim fights with the power of the Quran and by convincing people in their hearts of the great wisdom that it provides. Muslims and all other good people will win - the mullah will lose.

hamidm #97 ``The Inquisition set out to purge the chowk of all those who did not have pure quraish or islamic blood during a time of merry-making by the apostate hamidm ( may he burn in eternal fire) and his heathen companions.``

I never said anything like this, and have in previous posts spoken out against people who think such talk has any basis in Islam - indeed, talk about Islamic blood and the superiority of the syeds or quraish over ordinary people (muslim or non-muslim) is a travesty of Islam.

You aim is confused and misdirected when you attack Islam when you should attack maudoodism (those who seek to gain absolute political power by exploiting the name of Islam). It is just as misdirected as that of the Taliban when they fire at harmless relics from the past rather than attacking the real problems - of hunger and civil conflict and refugees - that the poor people of that country fact.

PS: A Qari is someone whose focus is on reciting the Quran, not on understanding its meaning and far less on acting accordingly. My focus is on the meaning of the Quran as opposed to the dysfunctional traditions that have been built up over the years in contradiction to the Quran - with the mullahs being the driving force behind the emergence of these traditions that all too often in violation of Islam.

Godot #92 ``I`m in complete agreement with scout and tahmed321, and vehemently disagree with hamidm re mocking religion and God.``

Nice to have some expression on support on a point which no one would have a problem if only they gave it some thought. But thinking (as Professor Higgins says) is something some folks (these in our case being the mullahs on the one hand and Pakistani ``elite`` on the other) never do.

I will go join Kurt Cobain in hell before I ever, ever do such a thing. I can`t imagine a worse thing.

a classic example of `peer pressure` where no one had the guts to tell hamidm sahab (chowks very own charlie chaplin) to take his budtameez ramblings up the tail pipe..tahmed sahab..more power to you...

Peer pressure:
`` Authors note: Anwar Iqbal was threatened with death by an unidentified group after reciting the Urdu original of this poem in Islamabad in late July 2000.``

Tahmed:

Congrats on your very sensible and straight-forward posts!

Personally, I find it very strange that the merlot-lovers will openly go and insult what is very sacred and close to other human beings, but will become defensive about their own mental illness. And these fools[I am withholding my urge to use a strong adjective]will have the nerve to boast about their mental filth; thinking others should religiously accept that. Simply, disgusting!

An FYI:
If there are religious hypocrites, then there are non-religious and merlot-loving hypocrites as well!!! Nature has a pretty weird sense of humor, I guess.

Take Care!

Please spare us the sermon. Every major religion preaches something on the same lines as you did. I am sorry if you are still delusional about Islam not being an organized religion. Are you saying madrassahs and jihadi outfits are not organized around the Islamic religion. Please spare us!

I know you feel compelled to believe in the infallibility of your own religion and being a decent person wish that it is true.

I am sorry to burst your bubble. Man made religions based on religious books written by men are bound to end up in the same bin.

If it is all about just God and Man, why have a book and Prophet Mohamed, why even call it Islam? Every man should have his own name for it and call his own God the way he wants to.

I know it is really hard to get free of the fetters of religious indoctrination because fear is the basis of most religious teachings.

You can have a rules book or a penal code to deal with what is right and wrong based on the society and times, but don`t call it religion.

True religion is universal and nameless. It is about the individual human spirit and one universal God.

[All posts that I have read or I haven`t read]

Please do care to state your perspective, whether someone likes it or not. After all, when we can hear the woes of chunnoo munnoo, dot dot, merlot-lovers, jehadis, fanatics, liberals, seculars, fundamentalists, and conservatives - why not your reasonable voice? Please continue.

Continue!!!

Regards.

Pehle Aap Ne Pakistan Mein Kia Put Lia.

Islam Ke Saye Mein Tijorion Pe Tijorian Bhur Gayen. Baqol Ibn-e-Insha ``Khushali Ka Itna Dor Dora Hua Ke Log Sona Uchalte Mulk Ke Eik Kone Se Doosre Kone Nikal Jate Aur Koi Poochne Wala Naa Tha. Balke Baaz To Sona Uchalte Hue Doosre Mulk Nikal Jate.``

So lets continue with discussion.

The Pakistani whose milk teeth are still intact and are living in Utopia called America. Let them be saviour of God.

I am believer in Abdul Mutallib. When Abraha was about to attack Kaaba and captured his camels. He as a leader of Quraish talked to him regarding return of camels. When Abraha asked you did not ask me to refrain from attacking House of God and instead are demanding camels. Muttallib said` House of God belongs to God and HE will take care of it. Camels belong to me, so I have to take care of them.

As you know there is no Army on Chowk to hang you in the Name of God.

And the army of milk toothed still have a right to speak.

If we can read one liner from Sadhna Jay etc. Muslim one liners also have a right.

Temporal and Grand Inquisitor Tahmed

``Insan`` is one way to describe humanity, but it is the other meaning that i was referring to. Insan can be, and usually is, quite devoid of humanity.

Think about it: people who preach ``consideration`` and ``respect`` for other people`s ``feelings`` base their lives on a ``deen`` which forces them to teach their children that the Christians and Jews changed ``their`` god`s message, and that the Hindoos are idolators and kafir to begin with.

Organized religion does create all kinds of problems for rational beings like me when we are not under the influence of merlot or macallan. The other day my daughter told me that she got into an argument with a jewish kid over who Abraham was asked to sacrifice - Issac or Ishmael. I deserve these kind of silly questions because I am the one who pays the Qari fifty dollars (real not canadian) an hour to mess with her mind ( and keep Begum Hamid happy ). But anyway .... you must be wondering what was my answer to her. I said , ``We believe that it was Ishmael`` - the emphasis being on ``we``. So the precocious eight year old says, `` does that mean that they are wrong.``. By this time the wife has her ears perked up, so with all the force I can muster, I say, `` No! WE believe it was Ishmael, and THEY believe it was Issac, and let us leave it at that - and don`t you ever think that someone has to be wrong in order for you to be right `` ......... actually I can`t wait for her to grow up so that I can tell her what I really think !

I am glad to report she is fine ....... Mrs Hamid, however, is kind of worried about whether her nikah is valid ! Maybe Urstruly or Naqshbandi can issue a fatwa on this subject.

Now, if you will excuse me I would like to go back to using dots, dropping the punctuation and not capitalizing what i feel does not need to be capitalized ...... this is killing me ..... there is something cathartic about letting the pure unadulterated stuff flow straight from your warped mind, through your formerly nicotine-stained fingers, into the keyboard and out into cyber space ........

all this talk about merlot-lovers .... do i sense a ...........Cat Fight ! ..... i hope i have managed to insult jawahara hoping that she will come to my defense now that allah`s green brigades have answered Inquisitor Tahmed`s call. Ram gawa hai - at this point i will even accept help from the saffron brigade .....rsaxena, jay, shankar - where are you ? help! .... but then the momins and mominas will say, `` see - the hypocrites and the kafirs have once again formed an unholy alliance against Allah and the Ummah``...... so on second thought, stay out of it ......... i am sure i can somehow manage to get the grammarian temporal to take the fall for me - he deserves to be burned at the stake for his own little inquisiton of bad writers.
