Re:Post #25
Shirin,
Thanks for your feedback on the poem.
And shame on you for rubbing ``Beautiful British Columbia`` in my face ;). No matter, I am taking off for Southern California next week, when I get back to Ottawa, it will be sunny! Ottawa is extremely beautiful in the summer.
I am sure us Ottawa`ns wouldn`t mind sending you some of the snow. But I hear BC has a pretty severe case of rednecks! You can continue to hold on to those fine specimens of humanity ;)
Alright, here is a call to all Canadian Pakistani`s on Chowk, please stand up!
--cheers

It seems that I have touched a few sensitive souls :-) I do not have the time to write more kahaniyaan at this time, so I will just add that inspite of my dislike for the overall impression of Ottawa, I have been visiting the city and its suburbs for the past 4-5 years very regularly. Great People :-)!!! And I will do that pretty soon again :-)
Dost Mittar:
It`s lots of fun driving in snow :-) and hail-storms and the hide`n`seek playing clouds :-) If it is snowing only then there is monotony, but if it`s a combination then it`s a KILLER! :-) Simply love the feeling of passing through all the interesting phases of environmental tubdeeleyaan :-)

Hello Layahus , though i wish you would abandon anonymity , and stick to ``Suhayal ``.
loved your poem !!
ha ha .... i live in ``Beautiful British Columbia ``, where there are flowers all year round , and you know what? we feel deprived of the snow !! Wish we could trade our rain for some snow !! however the emphasis is on ``some ``!!
Well the cherry blossoms , tulips , daffodils , are beginning to blossom, so spring is very much here !!
take care
Shirin

A General Request:
If I ask a question, I will appreciate if the interactors let me know in reasonable time than leaving my inquisitive senses in lurch. :-(!
Thanks.

Dost Mittar; This poem was submitted last spring :)
Zahra bi bi, What a small world, you talk of dissapointing city called Ottawa, Dost-Mittar lives in Ottawa, and so do I (for half of the year). I used to *love * the winter. I did crazy things like pack a backpack with two thermos of coffee and go walking in.... -50 (yup we had that one year :). But since then I realized the cold weather makes for cold impersonal people...or people too worried about not slipping on the ice and desperate to get into a heated place. It is good to visit but not to spend 10 years of your life in:)
Dost-Mittar, it was still lightly snowing today, but you know Ottawa, we will get a freak snow storm at the end of april just to piss everyone off!
Zahra Ji, I believe I answered yet another question of yours!!

That was simple indeed:-) Remember Sherlock Holmes saying to Watson,`` I think I give myself away while explaining. Results without causes are more impressive.`` How is your mother doing. I am not glad that you returned back to chowk:-) Just when I thought it was time to cut down on my interacts drastically and leave chowk to Urstruly with his periodic Hindu bashing weeks, you came back. Anyways welcome back.
Cheers

Dost-Mittar G:
I intend to be there in late April inshallah. And I just hope the R.C Skateway is still in its ``cool attire`` and I can enjoy my skating acrobats without any gloves. I find the place chilly, but not cold as cold :-) I guess I have aquired that resistance against cold weather. Now I simply love it.
Few years back, I took an adventurous trip to visit my friends in Canada. Drove from NJ to Ottawa on one fine sunny day. It was the most beautiful drive, I have ever had in my life in the chilling winter season[january]. Around 400-450 miles drive. During that I ran into hail-storms, rain and shine, fluffy snow, hide-and-seek of pretty dhoop...in short, words cannot fair well to explain that trip. As I crossed the border between the US and Canada, I was very disappointed. Thank God, after I saw some signs of life, I realized that I was on planet earth :-)otherwise I had planned to sue AAA and their trip-tik maps. It`s very different when you fly from airport-to-airport and it`s a completely different experience when you drive to a new place. I was so glad that I chose the latter.
Thanks for your warm wishes. By the way, are there any Gulehris in Ottawa? or in its vicinity?
Regards.

Mr JB:
``very surprised at peoples` failure to analyze and disect the simple art form of scrambling letters of words or, in this case, a name.``
Buhat Buhat Shukriya Meherbani!( *_ *)[a face with twinkling gratitude ]
Naqis-ul-Aql couldn`t reach that artistic level of comprehension :-( !
I am speechless.
Shukrun!

Lyahus is perhaps Suhayl (read backward) or Sohail whereas Riman is perhaps Imran.
Good poem Lyahus. I just hope you are not scrambling the meaning of love, to keep yourself warm in the frigid winter of Canada.

Zahra,
Curious...what sort of boot camp were you on? The one that they have for troublemakers? On a similar note, has anyone seen that reality Tv show bootcamp? I hear it is pretty funny.

Re Post#12, And AAmir`s post.
Yes I am Pakistani.
To Zahra`s worry about a virus, you caught me :), I was being evasive.
Okay so Who is Lyahus, or what is Lyahus? I wrote a poem earlier that explained a bit about who Lyahus is. In the simplest sense, Lyahus is an alter ego. Lyahus is the opposite of who I am. Lyahus backwards = Suhayl. Temporal guessed that one ages ago (pretty obvious anyway :).
I decided some time back to write as 2 identities, myself and Lyahus. Lyahus got away with some darker stuff, the opposite of what Suhayl felt. But that distinction has now blurred.
I do live in Canada, I used to love the winter, but now I have decided that there is no use torturing the body with this harshness. I have a new love, Cuba the seductress, she beckons...I must heed her call.
Now back to the subject regarding Lahore...I have decided I will visit Lahore, after I go to Cuba of course. I`ll have nihari for breakfast, eat several times a day, visit during basant so I can fly kites, do some ``tarda tardi`` with the beautiful Punjabi girls, etc etc. I have lived abroad too long.
Suggestion and donations welcome ;)

``You visit Canada only in the winter time? You sick sick woman! I go to California in the winter (for as long as I can), next stop Cuba.``
I simply love winter season, aside from the beautiful fall. Rideau Canal Skateway and Winterlude festivities are worth cherishing. Life!I do not like Ottawa very much, but often visit to meet friends around the festivities`time. In general, kind of a dead city! Which part of Canada you were talking about? Oh, then it`s another question.Ignore!

There is some virus going on here. Whoever is asked a question, the person skips that question and starts cross-examination!
What does Lyahus mean? Could you please state that in a word or two. Being a poet and a writer, you should not have any difficulty. If you are uncomfortable revealing the meaning of Lyahus then just say so. That`s perfectly fine.
``Lahore is a place I`ve been only once (for 5 hours). I am told it is the culinary capital of Pakistan and overall center of livliness. On my last visit to Pakistan, I noticed a great lack of women in Islamabad and Karachi (in the markets etc). I was comforted by a friend who said, don`t worry, go to Lahore. That`s where you find the Pakistani Beauties.``
Lahore is a special city. It has culture, culinary delights and its special homely touch. Islamabad - is a new ciy and has yet to acquire any culture. Pindi - still have some. KHI - I cannot stand the city!
In general, Punjab has the most beautiful and fertile land with the tastiest water. So the results will be obvious :-)! The men as well as women of Punjab are the sweetest and the prettiest ones, without any doubt!
``Are these stories about Lahore true, or have I built up Lahore as something it is not? ;)``
Writers and poets have quite a few strange habits. They assume a lot and then they want to get confirmation on their assumptions every now and then. Well, if you believe in something strongly then just go by it. Why care to confirm the very obvious :-)?
The concept of beauty varies based on our perception. Few years back, I was in Scottsdale, AZ for a boot-camp. It was late August 105F-117F. Extremely hot! I detest summer season, but something happened one evening. I came out of our resort to watch the sunset. The color of the sky was dull orangish-red and the air was so crispy hot that I was taken-aback by the beauty of nature. The rustish sunset and the heat wave reminded me of Lahore like hell.
On another note: Visiting the famous Hiran Minar in the outskirts of Lahore, on Sheikhupura Road. A very unique historical building - with a beautiful lake nearby! As I was leaving, I made one mistake. I looked back. And the picture is still intact. The clear reflection of Hiran Minar in the lake-water. To me that was beauty!
Take Care.
