Studebaker, thanks for the invite from the land of one of my favorite authors. Mr.King. I would like to extend the same to you if you ever are in Ottawa. Who know there might be a big Chowk convention one of these days when we all get together? Now there`s an idea!

re: Canadians v.s. Americans. Canadians do royally piss off Americans at every interaction. I have seen this time and time again. Now I have a lot of friends in USA and they are all very intelligent well travelled people. Anyhow, I will defend Canada a bit every now and then, but come on! We haven`t decided if we are Capitalists or Socialists, we therefore are bad at both!

Shirin: I am neither a taurus or a Scorpio as Suhayl, but as Lyahus I think I would be a scorpio. As Suhayl: Aries.

Yes the ``Thappa `` of a prestigious university does get you places , but what about all those intelligent kids who went to state universities or less reputable ones , and may be as brilliant as their counterpart grads. from an Ivy League .Its not their fault that they/ parents could`nt afford to pay the killer tuition fee for those instituitions ! What i was wondering is if not initially , but eventually they both level out ?

For instance a dr. qualifying from Pakistan paying a fee of Rs. 18/ month ,and after going through the requalification process [ which in monetory terms amts. to only paying the examination fee ] in the end is at par with a graduate from anywhere in the world !....

Is the system at fault, or the Attitude ?

I could not resist the dissection on ``a bout ``. It is definately not canadian! it could pass for a cockney accent or perhaps a European speaking in English.However i may hasten to add that we do have a lot of ``Francophones ``,in Quebec/ Montreal areas mostly, so maybe you ran into one of them and just generalised all canadians speaking like that .However they too do not sound so bad !

Now how do you explain for `` rout ``[ route ] and `` pocket book `` [wallet ]? that is a real puzzler !

And BTW, i cannot agree more with Suhayl , that your currency is really confusing ! see our toonies and loonies ! they are so distinctive , no tourist will be fooled !

Yes Mashallah my cousins did very well towards their career after graduating from ``Bowdoin ``. One of them got into med school, and one has got a very good job in some reputable firm, the name escapes me as i write . i guess it does help in the long run , as this society is very conscious of seeing the ``Thappa `` of a good college / university on the resume .Very unlike with the values we were brought up with `` key parhney waley kahin bhi parth letein hain ``!! The best student can profit from a very ordinary instituition.However i am beginning to believe in the ``Thappa `` now, i very shamefully admit !

Thank you for your very generous offer ! It would truly be very historic if we can all get together sometime on some comon ground.

We *so * do not say aboot or aboat or anything of the sort...I hear this everytime I visit California! Well truth be told, I do slip a few ``eh`s`` into the conversation everyonce in a while, and am eternally confused about what you Americans (I am assuming here) mean by freeway`s parkways, roadways etc...

I am also eternally confused by the fact that you function with a currency that is so boring (mighty yes, but boring): all bills the same size and the same color. What do blind people do?

On the other hand, I always smile at the Canadian Identity. Americans have the ``American Dream``, we have the ``we are not American`s`` ...it is too funny. As if Americans really care about Canada ;)

Wow ! Maine is beautiful! you lucky fellow!MashaAllah. cousin`s of mine went to ``Borden College ``, they loved it ! my relatives are scattered in Orange [ conn] , and Boston ! close but no cigar !
