My mistake! I should have clarified the series that I disliked. I detested Imran Series[I think it was written by him. Correct me, if I am wrong]. I was referring to Imran Series and not Ibna`ae`Safi`s work in general. I know how crazy people around me were after his books. I`d only cared to flip through one novel and after that I never ever cared to flip through another[of course, I meant Imran Series].

Hope that clarifies and joro-fies all the hearts that were shaken and broken after my ``cutting but heartfelt comments`` on Ibn`ae`Safi.

Nice article. This kind of sick, perverted psychopathology is found in every single society & country. Psychiatrists have stuggled to explain why this happens. Alas, after reading several case histories in forensic psychiatry, I`m still hard pressed to explain why some human beings (overwhelming majority of them are males) engage in such shocking deviant behavior.

I know you have altered the names. You write this article in first person. I`m curious. Are you giving this account from your personal experience? or what was the inspiration? This may sound naieve; but I thought you were an engineer by profession. Also, why the heck is the CIA involved in this case? Were Bin Laaden`s followers in the list of suspects?:)

I came to this article just recently. Maybe the answers to my questions were in the numerous replies to this article. But, when I was scrolling through the replies, I got kinda turned off by the usual hindu/muslim bashing it degenerated into. Perhaps you would do me the favor of directly replying to my questions, without asking me to go through these 100+ posts:)

On a serous note, you seem to have a very humanistic side to you. You vigorously denounce the darker side of humanity`s inhumanity--regardless of which country/religion it comes from. Thats commendable.

I hate to admit this, but I tend to agree with you. On Chowk, at least, Indians seem to be more reluctant to be self critical than Pakistanis. At least, thats my perception. In general, our posts are more reactionary, defensive & preachy. Of course, there are plenty of exceptions to that generalisation.

Why do we tend to get so offended when someone insults us, our religion or country? (that includes me) Dont we all agree that ONLY a power wiser than us has the necessary qualifications to stand in judgement of us? So why do we get so hurt when somebody judges or insults us? Any fool can insult or judge.

Usually, I find such insults & holier than thou judgements very amusing & ample fodder for my sick jokes. Though, I must admit, that when I realised we hindus worship the penis god, I have a new found admiration of my religion & became a ``born-again hindu``:) I have to thank my friend URstruly for pointing out the greatness of that virtue.

Lastly, URstruly, there`s this tiny issue of my recent unemployment...perhaps you could find it in your humane side to help me out...

NewEntrant, courage and righteousness does not lie in bluster, bravado, and bluff. Neither doet it lie in ad hominem attacks of people, their lifestyles, or clothes, no matter how much you may disagree with them. I have done all that when I was younger, and I certainly wasn`t any braver then. Only more foolish.

Control your emotions and mind your language if you dont want to be written off as just another crank who is a disgrace to his own religion. We do have quite a few such blessed souls already.

Thanks for your appreciation. I think that the forensic detail that is already given is a bit of overkill in the perspective of short story; especially a story which is written for internet audience. But it was necessary to connect the reader to the horror and helplessness that both girls might have gone through. Another objective was to make `Inspector Sami` a real thing.

As far as scratching for resistance is concerned, usually it is found on the assailant, keeping in mind your contention that Inspector should have checked under the fingernails-it is elementary Dr. Watson:)

On a serious note I think those poor girls in the presence of weapons and finding themselves in a graveyard-would not even have resisted as much as a lamb. They would have died with the silence of the lambs. God save us all.

I think the white charades will be around us for a while unless we organize ourselves.

It`s my bad that I lumped both together. I`ve read them both while I was in school and memories are beginning to fade. Personally I liked Ishtiaq Ahmad better than Ibn-e-Safi, but IS is the one who started it all. And I always felt IS`s influence on Ishtiaq. I lost interest in both of them when I started reading Dick Tracy`s comic books-then came Alistair Maclaine, S.E. Hinton, and then the Bano Qudsia...and there was no turning back.

On a side note, I have heard that `outside` the summer season is in full swing. Is it true? They dont let us out much, you know:)

No offence intended towards Ibn-e-Safi (or you) in the note addressed to Zahra. It is just a matter of taste. I do admire his (IS`s) sense of humor though, which is reflected through his characters. I also agree that it is like comparing apples and oranges making a comparison b/w Ahmad Yar Khan and IS.

Rashid if you could remember the name of the other author who writes just like Ahmad Yar Khan I would be greatly indebted. I dont think when urstruly begins spewing his hatred of Hindus, he is being Islamic. I daresay he will himself agree. It is just the same as when any Hindu begins mouthing off his hatred of Islam. Neither of us remain the best specimens of our religions when we are filled with hate. All that we represent is long years of conflict and lack of understanding and intimate relationship between two otherwise great communities.

So, if you wish to call him a nazi for some of his views, go right ahead. He and his supporters will soon call you a nazi back. All this name-calling wont look very nice, but we will try to ignore it by blaming it all on the uncouth child that lurks within us.

But when you call him a Islamic Nazi, you rope in into your warfare many many good people who share little of Urstruly`s religion, other than the label. Ahmed yaar Khan has his own class (I forgot the name of other who also used to write similar stories) I think he used to write for ``Subrang digest. More down to earth.

Ibn-e-Safi has his own class. Not only characterization, but also to me a sort of futurist.

Particulalrly his later stories giving a glimpse of future. Like a higher breed of Thresia and his clan with their philosophy of super intelligent breed trying to take hold of earth reminds of philosophy of scientology.

Anyway comparing two writers will always be a comparision of apple and oranges. Who likes apples and who likes oranges is a matter of taste.

But these days this epidemic is so rampant that the writer of:

Gudagaran-e-Sukhan Ke Hujoom Samne The``

is now in the same boat with other Gudagar in old age.
