thats terrible about your friend…a very good friend of mine had a robbery in her house..there they walked in and took everything...i remember feeling so scared after that..locking doors id never bothered with..and to add to it my mamoos house got robbed soon after..these 20, 25 year old 9 boys who didnt know the cell phone from the chocolates...they stayed for some 3 hours..from 6in the morning and tied my mamoo up but check this..my aunt n cousin were in their night clothes tau they asked them to change or wear a dupatta...lovely aint it? Took close to a crore rupees (there was a wedding going on in the family then and therefore so much money) this isnt even taking into account the phones, t.v’s , land cruiser, ..and whats really funny here is that they didn’t know what the stack of ponds was…``yae bachon ka paisa hae``....left close to 2 lack rupees in pounds and took everything else…while leaving they told the workers * * * * kab tak kaam kar kae mahinae kae do chaar hazaar kamaoe gae..humai daikho…2 ghantae mae kya ban gaye…and then they flew off where the driver dropped them at BHANGEE PARRA! All the while they were listening to dilbar dilbar full volume on my cuzins stereo with the driver trembling….besides all this monetary loss, my uncle and his people were traumatized…couldn’t sleep for days..how do you when someone walks into your room at six in the morning while ure sleeping and wakes u up with a gun and asks paisa kahan hae? Left so much aslaha its not even funny…knives and guns n god knows what else…

im very sorry about your friend

love,

anNy

p.s: plz excuse the typos and incoherence..am in a bit of a rush

Ms. Venkateswar
All your articles have had this rare combination of gentle, positive and thoughtful point-of-view in what you describe and how you describe, times, places, people and situations. These are interesting in themselves and then your point-of-view provides an additional reaffirmation of the good things in life.

Do please keep writing.

Sadhana

I enjoyed reading it very much. It did seem like an insider`s job. And what had happened to the dog?

It was sweet of your husband to get you all that stuff to make up for what you had lost but it would have been nicer if he had tried to comfort you as well.

Sometimes i don`t want to be told if what i did was right or wrong or if it was for better or worse, i simply want to be held close and comforted.

I lost my wedding ring once and almost had a heart attack. I could have had another one made but that wouldn`t have been the same. Thank God it turned up. Losing the entire mixed bag ...... don`t even wanna think about it.

I strongly agree with soy`s points. This piece, though charming, could use some heavy editing. You need to bring it down to a short-story level; its beauty will then be highlighted. And I think switching predilection with predestined would help. Affinity needs a replacement as well, like soy pointed out.

Regards,

Kiran

I liked reading this piece. It could use a little more editing, some tightening up.

On another note, the choice of `affinity` or `predilection` *for * burglary gives the strong impression that the daughter, like her mother, is a burglar. Perhaps you want to say, fated to be burgled?`

Oh what a sweet story!! Unfortunately in our quest for material wealth we often take the human ties for granted. I am so glad all worked out so well in the end.

On a side note - dogs maybe a mans best friend but are absolutely no good as protectors. Our doberman will welcome & make instant friends with anyone who sets foot on the premises but god help them if they try to leave !!

Mrs Venkateswar

Thank you for the story. It was a real pleasure to read it, as well as the other two of yours that I`ve seen. I`m looking forward to more.

Sincerely,

Zafar Al-Talib
