I am also a nonvegetarian. I dont see what is there to be proud of in your dietary habbits. Did you work hard to be a nonvegetarian? Climbed mountains? Learnt Japanese? Parachuted from airplanes? You just eat what your parents taught you. Is that very different from what animals do?

Justifying cruelty to animals talking of food chain is thinking like an animal. So may be there isnt much difference between some humans and animals.

:``Feel free to criticize any Hindu practice cruel to animals and non animals. Tradition can go to hell. I wont want anyone knifing me because of their tradition.``]

THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ANIMAL & HUMANBEING!!

but still i also support as much love towards people as we do towards some of our animal pets & also kindness towards Animals that we have human rights for our selves.

Im Non Vegeterian & proud of it .I believe god created food chain both in jungles & Cities.

Dear Kiran:

Relax -- it was all in fun. Why everybody is so touchy on Chowk these days.

I had to include all four religions in order to be fair to Islam.

Commenting on silly ``cruel`` (though mouth-watering tasty) traditions is what we are here for on Chowk.

Now ``speak only when spoken to`` -- pretty old fashioned – isn’t it -- for a place like Chowk? -- how old are you -- 85 -- an strict disciplinarian, eh? -- did you speak to Saima because she had spoken to you? -- just kidding.

By the way I am a carnivore too – not a vegetarian -- can`t live without meat -- only feel queasy making ``offerings of meat`` to my Rahim-o-Karim God.

Dear Asif:

Don`t you get enough ``traditionalist Muslims`` on sunni.org? -- this is Chowk for crying out loud --no holy cows, no holy men, no holy books here -- pretty harsh place – aint’t it.

Dear Farangi-Kush:

Thanks for your kind testimonial -- I needed that. You`re a fine gentleman yourself – but if I may -- do you have to be a Farangi-Kush -- or a Hindu-Kush -- or a Muslim-Kush -- or a Christian-Kush – or a Zoroastrian-Kush -- with your knowledge and intellect -- shouldn’t you be more -- ``Khush`` than ``Kush`` -- just a thought.

Thank you for a terse & polite admonishment to an otherwise fine gentleman here.

I read your posts with interest and enjoy them.

Happy Birthday Chowk!!

I actually quite enjoy it here (this and pak.org and sunnah.org) are the only forums are visit on a regular basis)!

I still wish that more ``traditionalist Muslims`` would come here though.

yawm-e-wiladat mubarakbaad!

Nasah, Re #28:

The comment wasn`t addressed to you. And because it wasn`t a question, it didn`t require any answer, as you can well see; Saima let it go as a personal opinion, to which everyone is entitled.

And because you managed to poke fun at the traditions of 4 major religions at once, well, I`ll leave you alone to your somewhat sorry little world of assumptions. Maybe it`ll help if you adhere to: speak when you are spoken to. :)

Try to have a good day.

Stuka,

What`s so complex about what Farangi Kush said?

For example, he says:

``PS:I would very much like to befriend an avowed practising hindu who believes, very sincerely, that Barat should be Shudhhindu.``

Translation: Anyone who says India is for Hindus is Farangi`s friend, because that would confirm his belief that Paksitan is for Muslims. Good old TNT.

Here`s one more quote from him:

``On the other hand the moment I find out that a `muslim` is trying to appease me by the V-ShantaaRaamish bhaee-charaa candyfloss,I`ll jump back with a jolt.Nothing to gain by sticking around such used-car salemen.``

Translation: Any Indian Muslim who contradicts TNT by saying that Hindus and Muslims can live together in a single country is evil. And not a true Muslim (notice his quotes).

The Hindu fundos in India who believe India is only for Hindus and the Muslim fundos in Pak who believe Pak is only for Muslims reinforce each other. Secular people have nothing to gain from either.

(my last on this subject)

Then please organise a state orgy of Brahmins & Dalits with the other two castes sanwitched between them.

Nepal declared total equality to Dalits today. That is the ONLY official, theocratic,Hindu state. Not sham-secular BUT theocratic in practise!A True return-to its-roots HINDU.No TNT here sir!but it happens to be a very friendly(?)nation with Pakistan. They are state-level friends but they are NOT friends because they are fundamentalist/diehard/orthodox/fanatical hindus. That has NOTHING to do with state-friendships.It is commerce,trade,benefit-based `friendship`.

Indians,on the other hand, refuse to treat their own kind equally as a human--and then they are aspiring to build new friendships? To do what?To have more shudars to avoid seeing their face in the morning?

Sure you know better Stuka!

WASSALAAM.

Man, u are making it way too complex.

You said, ``Indians and Pakistanis genuinely despise each other`` right? Or something to that effect.

All I`m saying is ``NO, all Indians and Pakistanis do NOT despise each other``. That`s it. I AM an Indian, and I love my country and NO , I do NOT despise Pakistan or Pakistanis.

Yes, where the interests of my country are at variance with the interests of your country, I will work to further the interests of my country. I would expect a Pakistani to do the same for his or her country.

If a Pakistani is willing to betray his or her country, and to serve my country, then I would use him yes, but that is the Pakistani I would despise.

Do you get where I am coming from?

And if you can be frinds with an Akhand Bharat type, you would then not despise him? Or do you usually despise your friends? That is what i fail to understand from your posts.

Kiran to Saima:

``Just a point that I thought was uncalled for: your appreciating the Krishna story, didn`t require the putting down of the Qurbani tradition. I`m sure you are well aware that it`s a lot more than just ``chopping off some poor goats head.``

In fact -- a valid point by Saima -- that was totally called for.

It IS lot more than -- ``chopping off some poor goats head`` -- it is a pre Islamic -- pagan practice -- that has as much spiritual significance as -- ``Qurbani`` of a standing buffalo -- before Kali -- by Nepali Gurkhas.

Besides it`s outright animal cruelty the way it is done to the poor goats and sheep -- should be banned in Canada and USA -- along with their own primitive practice of massacring poor Turkeys on ``Thanksgiving`` day -- some way to give “thanks” to the meat-loving Judeo-Christian-Islamic-Hindu God!
