This is a long story and starts in the summer of `99, when an Indian Muslim ``gentleman`` came to

Chowk and introduced himself as Studebaker and interacted normally for a fairly long time.BTW he claimed to be a medical practitioner,and at the time was located on the west coast.You can check all this by going to the summer of 99 and see for yourself.

Later he came to the east coast and started multiplying.The typical style and the incoherence

was the common factor which was visible in the posts of Studebaker,Shah,Bapu,Bijli,AAmer,Bhardwaj

Faiza,Fatimah,Bradcruise etc etc.Other weaknesses

in thier interacts were :- very limited knowledge of Urdu poetry,Pakistani cities and ONE common spelling mistake of the word ``their`` as ``there``.

Sadna and Neptune were also aware of this persons`s multiple disorder.Scout has also been through hell because of this person and so did Saminashah and now Zahra.

The best way to contain this malady is to ignore

him.No one should interact with him or his/her variuos personalities and he will die a natural death.

ASHINGTON: Fears of fundamentalist upheaval in Pakistan have aroused concerns in Washington that part or all of Islamabad`s arsenal of nuclear weapons may have to be moved to China for safekeeping from foreign attack. The prospect that loose warheads might be loaded onto helicopters or moved around a region foaming with fundamentalist turmoil is adding to fears in Washington that the war in Afghanistan might provoke a nuclear crisis.

The threat to weapons widely regarded as the Pakistan military`s ``crown jewels`` has forced Islamabad to consider what one American expert described as the ``ultimate worst-case scenario`` of removing warheads to China, Pakistan`s closest strategic ally in the region.

Correction to my earlier post. Niazi asked for two divisions worth of infantry as reinforcements but didn`t get them. He was actually only allocated 8 battalions (depending upon configuration, about one division strength, but w/out the integral armour, artillery, signals, service corps and other support elements) and sent only five.

Yeah yeah yeah..Pakistan should have had a great leader of the likes of Mullah Omer. He kept his Independance and Imaan, without kowtowing to the Americans. Look where he took Afganistan to--into the abyss. Of course you may feel Afghanistan is paradise because is a perfect Islamic societies where everyone is a perfect Sunni muslim, following the word of God perfectly. I doubt if the majority of Pakistanis agree with you.

The US gave Pakistan an ultimatum--``either youre with us or angainst us``--period! You want the US & their Western allies to be pissed at Pakistan?! Let me tell you pal, the banias on the other side of the border would have capitalised it in an instant! Only a descendant of banias like Mushy could understand how the Indian mind works. He weighed the options, look the lesser of the two evils & aligned with Americans & told the Indians to lay off.

Brilliant move Mushy! He`s a proud Pakistani to the last!. I`ll bet you the BJP is cursing under their breath that Mushy is`nt that ``perfect`` ideal leader like Mullah Omer. If the US & West ``outcasts`` Pakistan completely, Pakistan would have fallen into the abyss. Pakistan needs Western economic assisstance to stay afloat. Its up to her eyeballs in debt. What happened after Sept 11 th saved Pakistan`s skin.

Take it from an Indian. India doesnt want to annex Pakistan (much to the contrary of what many Pakistanis believe). But let me be brutally blunt. History has shown that India doesnt mind at all to kick Pakistan in the butt; especially when she`s vulnerable. Believe me, after what has happened in Kargil (& what India percieves is a ``stunt`` Pakistan is pulling in Kashmir), Indians dont mind a war with Pakistan (esp if the US is on their side!).

I`m not going to argue whether Indians are right or wrong in feeling that way. And I`m sorry if Pakistanis feel offended by that. Also, this is not meant to be chest thumping bravado. But if Mushy told the US to go to hell, India would have readily obliged the Americans. India wants to isolate Pakistan--esp on the issue of Kashmir. Pakistan could might as well kiss their Kashmir policy goodbye.

From a nationalistic standpoint, Kashmir is a profoundly vital issue for Pakistanis. Its seems much more than being part of a solidly united Islamic state. At least to Mushy it is. That man is a realist, nationalist & a pragmatist. He plays the hand thats dealt to him very astutely. This way he can rescue Pakistan`s economy, bring it back to the comity of nations, reign in the fundos & enhance Pakistani prestige in the eyes of the Western world.

Just 2 months ago he was barely noticed in the world. Now every leader in the West hangs on to every word he says; every news organisation is falling over each other to interview him--& every Pakistani who is a somebody is now getting a pulpit to talk.

What the heck more do you want from a Pakistani leader!! Jeeze, if I were a Pakistani citizen, I`d vote for this guy anyday!--er, if there was a vote (which I`m going to give Mushy the benefit of the doubt that eventually he`ll bring in democracy--when Pakistan gets stronger).

Ofcourse, its entirely possible that from your standpoint Pakistan should be an ideologically fundamentalist state. Many Western cultural values offend you. A Pakistan aligned to the West to become another Asian tiger is bad in your estimation. If thats so, who am I to argue with a Pakistani about whats good for Pakistan?!

What baffles the heck out of me is why guys like you, URstruly & Farangi Kush who obviously despise the West more than you love it--choose to live there-even temporarily! Surely you are intelligent & educated guys & your talents would be highly sought after by countries like S.Arabia or Dubai (if for some reason you dont want to live in Pakistan)! Why live in the West? Are you Al Qeeda members?! (just kidding):)

Incidentally, speaking of which, you announced a few months ago that you were going to leave Chowk because you wanted to devote more of your time in preparation of your after-life! What happened?! God granted you a visa already or what?!:)

It becomes very difficult to have intelligent discussions on the topic, under discussion (military capablities of different forces at different ranks), when people make comments like you have made. I believe you spend a better time of your day, trying to stop people from making sarcastic comments that have nothing to do with the point under discussion. I would suggest, you apply the rule on yourself, also.

Good Politicians beat good Generals



If is a well accepted fact that good politicians will defeat good generals. That is why Britain always ends up defeating Germany. Britain always had a better political system, run by better politicians, than Germany. Germans had the better Generals, more innovative tactics and better military technology, and scientists. There is a scene in the American movie, ``The Right Stuff,`` where an aid to the US president says, in reference to the Soviet space program, ``Our Germans are better than their Germans.``

The British had become so rigid in their military doctrine that they were unwilling to adapt the concept of, ``expanding torrent,`` initiated by their strategist Liddle Hart. This concept would, of course, become famous a decade later, under the German name, ``Blitzkreig.`` This introduced, for the first time, the concept of massive close air support as flying artillery, for armoured assaults. It also enhanced the concept of wireless communications in this kind of warfare (Guderian was actually an expert in communications).

However, it was infact a Brit, and not a German, who laid the foundations of this concept. Yet the British themselves, never benefited from it. The Germans ended up using this concept to carry out victories, with the speed, not seen since the days of Genghis Khan. Yet the Brits ended up winning the war. Better politics.

Even today, the Germans are the most powerful nation in Europe. A decade ago, the BundesBank was defining the monetary policy of Europe, almost on its own. However, if WWIII were to start today in Europe between Britain and Germany, my money would be on Britain. Better politics.

Military capablities should be judged in the context of battles. Not how good Generals are in politics. That is the job of politicians (or of generals, beaurecrats, journalists, labor leaders, religious leaders, student leaders etc. who have occupied that position). The guy fighting the batttle in the trenches, cannot be blamed for ill-conceived political policy.

I did not see in your previous post what some others have been charging you for. May be I do not understand writing in English language or may be I respected your honest and sincere (may be innocent also) opinion on the light side because you are about half my age and I am not the likes of current or past historical figures whose libido knew no bounds. No apologies asked and no apologies needed. I promise to keep interacting with you and with any other person, if 1) I respect the individual, 2) I have something to say that IMHO need to be said.

It is very unfortunate to read comment like, “most chowkies know nothing, contribute nothing,…………”. Just go the “Whither Democracy?” board and read the interaction between Aqil, Hobbyty and Romair. They are not wasting their time in debating and writing very valuable long posts to present their opinions. It is a problem with the person who is blaming and not the chowkies per se. Here you create your image through contributions and not looks. If all I do is whining 95 percent of the time and talk about my abbu, my brother, my Turkish and my Indian friends in the remaining 5 percent with occasional Persian poetry, ridiculing other chowkies by derogatorily breaking down usernames and adding unnecessary mean-spirited adjectives with usernames. What would you think of me, if you do not know my opinion about anything even after 2 years of interaction-except for the last one about Mush verses politicians. Is this the right use of my status of unfiltered access to posting? I hope Chowk is here to stay with people coming and going as they wish.

I thank the author of this article for discussing the real-politik behind this current war in the land of Afghanistan. It shows again (as if it wasn`t obvious from day 1) that this is not a ``war on terrorism`` but a cynical ploy by Bush and Blair and their acolytes to further US political hegemony and its economic interests; all this ofcourse translates into a war on Islam (no matter how they try to spin it) as political Islam is the only pertinent ideological threat in the region (i.e. an Islamic government in Afghanistan which does not say, ``how high?`` every timne the US says, ``jump!``) to the US achieving its political and economic long-term aims. And history is proof that what is good for US inevitably means bad news for Muslims. It is good for US to have a front-line (illegimate and illegal) zionist state in the heart of the Muslim middle east; it is good for US interests to have all ``yes men`` and evil dictators as leaders of the oil-rich saudi arabia and gulf states; it is good for US interests for US troops to defile the blessed land of Arabia with their presence to keep the shameless saudi royals in power (to keep cheap oil flowing to america)...and now it will be good for the US interests to have a de-facto military presence in the region around afghanistan

[i bet they will stay on either in a base in pakistan or in afghanistan for decades using a similar pretext to the one they used in s. arabia]; anyway, all the above facts have undeniably been good for the USA and undeniable disasters for the Muslim peoples of the region and the world and for Islam and so anyone who is smart enough, and brave enough (foolish enough?) to say that openly--such as Usamah ibn Laden and the Taliban--is immediately a ``terrorist``.

This has nothing to do with Sept. 11th (which was barbaric and done by who knows?) and everything to do with american interests in the region. so we as muslims should wake up and unite and--for once--since the death of the great Sultan Abdul Hamid the Second--do something which is going to be good for Islamic interests. I mean, why shouldn`t Muslims have a state going from Kashmir to Morrocco ruled over by a khalifa? Or at least try to achieve that?
