MUGHALS and Pakhtuns (AFGHANS)
MUghals were not Afghans but were totally against and opposite to Pakhtuns (Afghans).
In the time of Mughal the Mughal Kings like to call Pakhtuns for a dinner and when they start eating their dinner by hands the Mughals and the loyal people of that time like to laugh out on Pakhtuns (Note the Mughals started the spoon system and brought many modernity into Sub-Continent and into Muslims). When Shah Jehan invite SHERH SHAH SURI BABA ( FARID KHAN ) for a dinner he also invited other loyal, official, royal and Nawabs of that time to show that how a AFGHAN leader ( Fighter ) will eat. Farid Khan (Sher Shah Suri) knew all that the Mughals are making fun of Pakhtuns (afghanis) and Shah Jehan wants to do the same. When the dinner was placed on tha tabble there was a rost chicken placed infront of Sher Sha (farid Khan) After a while when Shah Jehan try to cut the chicken suddenly Sher Shah (Farid Khan) took a short sword (hanged with his body near Thaee) and put the Short Sword inside the Chicken and picked it up and start eating it. Shah Jehan at that time watched his guards and ministers and gave signals by his eyes to finish this man (FARID KHAN). Shere Shah (Farid Khan) knew that they will kill him. After eating Sher Shah run away from the palace (Here I can write a whole chapter of 30-40 pages on how the Hero Farid Khan ran away) Sherh Shah ran away easily as he was alone. After this he trained an Army and attack upon Shah Jehan empire. Sher Shah took a control and Shah Jehan left and ran away to IRAN his wife was brought to Sher Sha among the kids. Sher Shah Said You are my sister and a Pakhtun SIster is save till he is alive. Well my sister what you like now to be done with you?
She demanded three things.
that
1) Leave us and Shah Jehan.
2) We must be given our all revenue (jewellery, money, and everything) back.
3) We must be given a land across the Jehlum to rule over, and we will be obeying you and will do nothing against your orders.
Sher Sha full filled her demands. And said her that ask
SHAH JEHAN that don`t again try to make fun of Pakhtuns (Afghanis).
After this all when Shah Jehan wife met him. SHAH JEHAN SAID NO MOTHER CAN GIVE A BIRTH TO A BOY LIKE FARID KHAN EVER AND NO FEMALE EVEN GAVE A BIRTH TO A BOY LIKE HIM. AND HE IS REALLY A PAKHTUN TRANSLATOR.
This all shows that Pakhtuns (AFGHANIS) and Mughals are not the same but opposite and different.
Afghanistan gave a birth to the great PAKHTUNS Heroes for the ISLAMIC WORLD who Imposed Islam in the Indo-Pak.
Often My friends say that You (me) are a Punjabi and you like Pakhtuns why?
I reply that they are Mulims and they fight for the Islam. Who goes wrong they attack their and lead out ISLAM.

From Times of India.
Good stuff indeed!
NEW DELHI: The world has not prospered after liberalisation, according to Noam Chomsky, linguistics professor at MIT. Chomsky said India could meet the fate of countries that have experimented with liberalisation and ended up increasing the divide between the `haves` and `havenots`.
Chomsky was giving a lecture on ``Militarism, Democracy and Right to Information`` at the Delhi School of Economics here on Monday.
He divided the 20th century world economy into two periods -- pre- and post-globalisation; between World War II and the 70s, and after the 70. The divide between the haves and the havenots has just grown in the second instance, he said. He said the concept of free trade as advocated by the US to developing economies creates only a section of the affluent.
No society in the world has grown because of free trade, he said. The clique of developed nations is developed not because of free trade but because of mutual protectionism, he said. He gave two examples to suggest that even now the US indulges in protectionism. Bill Clinton had to ban the import of Mexican tomatoes because they were harming the interest of Florida farmers. Similarly, Japanese supercomputers were banned in the US because they were cheaper than those made in the US.
Taking a cue from Magasaysay Award winner Aruna Roy, who spoke before him about an urgent need for people to demand probity in government functioning because secrecy benefits only the ruling elite, Chomsky said the powers thrive on keeping information from the public. He mentioned the US penchant for ``fast-track legislations`` so that they can be kept from public scrutiny.
Professor Chomsky, condemning the September 11 terrorist attacks, criticised the US and its allies for attempting to exploit the resulting atmosphere of anguish. He reminded the Indian audience that the food crisis in Afghanistan has aggravated in the aftermath of the US air strikes.
The US efforts to monopolise space is another example of its dual policies, he said. It openly flouts the Outer Space Treaty of 1967 and does not regard the condemnation of the UN Conference on Disarmament regarding such monopolisation efforts. And to add to it, the media colludes with the government in not giving importance to such condemnation, Chomsky said.
Ridiculing the American reasons for keeping a high defence budget, he quoted from an official US document of March 1990 that said the country needed a huge defence budget to guard itself against ``the sophisticated technology of the Third World``. Of course, earlier the reason was the threat from the USSR.
Writer-activist Arundhati Roy, who shared the dais with him, said people like her ``support neither the Taliban nor the US war``. She criticised Bush for monopolising the definition of justice. The rhetoric of war amused her: in Bush`s case, it is monopolising; in Laden`s case, it is fundamentalist; and in Musharraf`s case, it is male chauvinist.
Siddharth Varadarajan of The Times of India, while sharing his Afghan experiences with the audience, said most of the people he met in Afghanistan, including the Taliban fighters, found the regime repressive and preferred the Rabbani regime over it. But they preferred Najibullah over Rabbani. Extending the logic, Varadarajan said he feared the US attacks may lead people to admire the Taliban.
The lectures were held in an informal and lively manner. The audience was supposed to sit wherever they found a place -- on the pavement, ground, or on chairs. The lectures were punctuated by some songs of protest. The talk culminated in a rally for peace around the university campus

Tajmahal, Shahi Mosque and Lal Quila were made by Mughals who made India their home. They were not Afghans. I might not agree with Kafir K Khan what he says BUT I disagree with you strongly that Afghans did not make Taj, Quila etc. It was Shah Jahan who was not Afghan.

Pankaj #213 you write ``Pakistani military stands to loose from any such arrangement. Then they would neither be able to justify their coups in the ``national interests`` nor the disproportionate share that they demand of the economic pie. `` That is right. As they say, war is too important to be left to the generals. I agree that the LoC should be made a permanent boundary, and the cause for friction would then disappear. And this is some friction :-)
I doubt if there will actually be ever be another major war (except through a big miscalculation) between the two countries, given nuclearization. And even the conventional balance of power alone is not too bad (from a Pakistani perspective). However, the real cost is the cost of preparing for such confrontations.
Given this situation, I think the most rational policy for the Indian government from all perspectives (Indian, Pakistani, world at large) is to vigorously promote the cause of democracy in Pakistan. The India-Pakistan dispute will then disappear faster than the morning fog (remember that leaders of the two mainstream political parties in Pakistan have opted for peace with India).
The fact that BJP has not focussed on promoting democracy in Pakistan is because BJP policies are in my view taken off the course of rationality by their hatred for Pakistan. So all I see from the BJP leadership is bellicose talk that is rendered meaningless by the military stalemate.

Kafir K Khan says: ``Afghans have known only violence and plunder.``
And alot of people say... Indians are spineless and two-faced.
This is how stereotyping sounds coming at you.
Please detest from stereotyping.

An aside,
There is a sad, sad story in NYT about a 55 year Pakistani man who died in INS custody.
http://www.nytimes.com/2001/11/05/nyregion/05JOUR.html
When I first heard the story, I took it in my usual stride; afterall, the world is often a melancholy and brutal place. But getting to know the person and learning about his circumstances back at home in Pakistan moved me.
I wish there was a way we could help this person`s family, his two sons and three daughters. If anyone knows about this case and learns of a way to send money directly to this person`s family, please let us know. I will very much like to make a contribution.
Thanks.

``Afghans have known only violence and plunder. They would come to India periodically to loot``
and leave behind the Taj Mahal, Shahi Masjid, Lal Qila, civilization.

hamzad #63 ``The mass-circulation Okaz said in an editorial that an attack on such a scale could not have been carried out with such accuracy and precision without the help of parties inside the United States or with strong links in Washington. ``
Why not? Nothing that was done required any special contacts - purchase tickets, hijack planes, fly them into a building. It is time the conspiracy theorists came out of denial and see reality - this was the result of hatreds that made the perpetrators of these evil deeds blind to reason, blind to humanity, and blind to the teachings of their own religion. The conspiracy theorists are only slightly less evil than these individuals.
