Law of Poetry Interacts:
If you want to make a point, engage in meaningful discourse about throbbing imagery and luscious words, then you are wasting your time. The poet will end up with an Oscar-nite thank youuuuuuuu and be done with you.
So, if you want the poet to pay attention to what you are saying, tell him/her that he is talking poppycock (a word which can be split into two if you want to sound real cool), that he is in an echo chamber essentially and what the heck is he doing putting us through the gas chambers and the noxious fumes of his unfulfilled desires/damnation? And guess what? HE will listen. HE will even agree. HE will thank mom and pop for teaching him something WORTHWHILE. He will bloody hell cop-out.
That leaves us silly for having understood. If we are lucky we may end up with repressed fantasies...
So DRUMZ, an apple need not be that small, round, red thing. It can be big, reddish with a green/yellow tinge, and not quite round...perhaps rounded with a delectable dimple on top. And if you do bite into it, you may be rewarded with a juicy something or a creamy something, depending on where you got the apple from. A bit like life, it can get quite rotten...
About seeing chipped finger nails ten-fold under the influence of intoxicants...considering there are ten fingers, yeah maybe.
PS: Samina wants to know the big secret. Shall I tell her you are the son I lost in a mela and you were brought up by this Fagin-like character??

Wow, if everyone gets this mad over a poem...
Amir, too short, but nice imagery!
I`m getting tempted to write my own poem and see what happens. Should I or should I not? Vote here.

First, Ansari: Not everyone agrees with everything another does. Your poem was good, ignore the criticism, do your thing.
Now for the angry young women...
Farzana: Its round, red and small. An apple, thats it. Why can only scout and I see that?
Using intoxicants to overcome repression is highly recommended, but unfortunately, the vivid Imagery a woman will see in a clipped finger nail tends to increase tend fold.
one more thing, if u speak to temp, ask him to stay for a couple extra months, the clean up will be monumental.
fzk: I thought I made the perameters explicitly clear. This is not a female issue, its a DESI female issue.
``Whats deep meaning got to do with repression?``
When you are unable to express yourself, you tend to see sexually charging imagery in everything from the strength of a moose`s hind legs to the length of a mouses left ear. This phenomenon is well documented, please dont ask for examples...
``I never found anything deep in anything mathematical``
Therein lies the tragedy. Your too busy finding something deep in an eyelash that our only example of infiniti (pi) alludes you as does the (absolute) number zero (our only conceptual viceroy of God`s).
``So if guys here cant think deep, is it becuase they are unrepressed, wild and untamed and extra maadrun? Or plain DUMB and lack imagination?``
That was mean spirited. Your being unreasonable, please reconsider.
``rgds...``
Why the hell does everyone here say that. whatever happened to `later?`

DRUMZ # 10:
Whats deep meaning got to do with repression?
Why the examples of Java and pi? How anally retentive is that? I never found anything deep in anything mathematical, call me unrepressed!
So if guys here cant think deep, is it becuase they are unrepressed, wild and untamed and extra maadrun? Or plain DUMB and lack imagination?
Who cares, really.
Love poems are meant to be enjoyed and imagined - if some people, usually of the male species, cant,
then thats just the way they are - unimaginative,
or shall i assume they are UNREPRESSED- oooh, kinky!

``Thank you for your honest criticism. It was humbling to read your comments and realize, not without amusement, the frivolity of writing poetry as compared to some other concrete pastime where the blessing is confirmed.``
oh i didn`t mean to be critical...i just didn`t get it...that`s more my problem than yours...you write poetry for yourself as much as for others..so if this one rocks your world, who am i to complain....

Ras, Farzana, Aisha, Kiran, Fzk, Samina;
Thank you for your kind comments. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Scout, RSaxena, Drumz;
Thank you for your honest criticism. It was humbling to read your comments and realize, not without amusement, the frivolity of writing poetry as compared to some other concrete pastime where the blessing is confirmed. Amma Abba ne acha kiya jo doctery parha di nahi to pata nahi kya karrahay hotay. :)
Scout, you sounded almost indignant. I am sorry. For what it’s worth, I started out merely reacting to the line in italics. That it would grow up to be a love song, I had no premonition. Your comment confirmed my initial reluctance to send this one in; alas a little too late.
Perhaps I can make it up to you all some day. :)
Regards,
Aamir

Kiran #9,
I like poetry that I can understand (to some extent). It`s my personal opinion, not meant to hurt anyone or pass judgement on any poet.

DRUMZ (#10):
Hmph...ok, the repression is awful. Like I am choking, gagging, binding myself all the time, so that I can see all those hidden meanings in an apple. Freud did it, Buddha did it and even Kissinger did it. Anyway, being humble and mortal I can only say that the repression is doing me a lot of good. I have suddenly discovered the virtues of heeng (mustard) seeds. You put release them slowly into boiling oil and they go pip-pip....explosive stuff, maan. And I don`t even have to seal myself in a bathroom with steam to get high :)See??

No disrespect to the writer but the replies here prove that desi females can find deep, hidden meanings in everything from Java Script to a numerical rendition of pi.
