mr. cutie pie,
if this is autobiographical, next time you`re interested in a girl, make sure you tell her that from the get go, especially since you have a chronic case of the `bhaiyya` disease.
this was a refreshing read, please write more for Chowk.

Talk about a grand entrance Mr. Bhat! This was simply Excellent! Excellent! One of the most hilarious pieces on Chowk ever. I enjoyed every line, and was smiling for a long while after I finished reading. Now that the word is out, you can write this well, ``chicks`` as you put them, will flock to you, atleast I hope so. :)
You should take up writing seriously, and send in anything else up your sleeve for publication. You have it in you!
Well-done!
Regards,
Kiran

Some smarta$$ kid ,trying to pretend Sharukh Khan with MBA to show & chiputzah to compare himself to ``putting Clint Eastwood `` to shame. Some cockiness of a rickety bow leg, oily hair, terrylene trousers & bombay dyeing Tshirt wearing punk.Trying to make our day ,misearable & pathetic. There must be thousand of such columns & stories on Sulekha every year.

Anoop: I think sir your days as a bachelor (with or without dates) are now numbered - being in your late twenties, your folks are probably trying to get you hitched as we speak. So time to pay attention to the one who you know will NOT be mistaking you for a brother. Do a good job here (hint: go for the heart and the mind when considering this person, see how her mom and dad treat one another, and forget everything else), and that is all you will ever need.
PS I too have had this frustrating experience in days of youth of being considered a good brother by a couple of classmates who should have known better than that!

A great article. This ``bhaiya`` syndrome is very notorious, especially with Indian girls. In my high school, there was a guy X who was crazily in love with this girl Y. Man! and dont ask me what this girl Y did, she offered Mr X a rakhee on the day of ``rakshabandhan`` in front of the whole class. We never stopped teasing X for this whole (mis)adventure.
PS May be some of my Paki friends dont know, but the whole male Indian community, especially boyz await this nasty festival of rakhee with great fear and apprehension. No one knows when the girl you had crush on may offer you a rakhee in public.

Anoop,
``...fed up by the endless stream of eligible young things that pass me by like fast locals at Vile Parle station...``
Hee Hee!
``In Class VII ...my pimply face, cracking voice and sudden interest in celestial bodies...``
Gosh! Looks like I was a late bird. These things happened to me only in Class X :-(
But now that you point it out a few things are clearing up. Like when the buxom math teacher in class VIII asked Sanjay to bring up his homework...and he went to her with his school bag in front of him...everyone laughed, except me!
welcome to chowk!
Best wishes,

Our Kahmiri Pundit ,Mumbai wannabe romeo hero is also a staunch sanghi supporter of Mr.Kak,the Kashmiri Pundit who thinksAGAINST the Aryan Invasion Theory ,believed by most of the world. Except Hindu Brahmins who lose ownership of India by this theory .
This is Mr.Anoops real softer side of Brahmin racist sangh parivar romantic love.

Keep up the good work Dr. Kak. I was amazed when I was told of the Anti-invasionist school of thought, after all isn`t that the stuff drilled into our heads in 5th grade history? But I read a substantial portion of Srikant Talageri`s book debunking the Aryan Invasion Theory and have to admit it was pretty convincing. . . ``Aryan`` and indeed its variant ``brahmin`` have become dirty words almost, much bandied about by our enlightened politicans for their own dirty means. If you ask me (an utter layman in matters historical) the biggest proof of the Aryans never invading India would be in the nature of their descendants. You would expect an invading race to be bloodthirsty and barbaric, not erudite and progressive! But hey, Romila Thapar would probably disagree! ``Apney mia Mitthu ``
